  1. [22:28] Taking a hand toward her staff, she'd remove it from her bac, placing it upon the ground, the object was then stabbed with it's heel in the ground. "A long while ago Vedran said there were ways for even Vampires to be purified. I was wondering if such was even possible for a creature as myself.
  2.
  3. I lost a good friend today because of my summoner's madness. Madness I was bound, forced to support. A child of a woman I cared for is having to see his mother die."
  4.
  5. The hands around the staff were removed. She'd then take a few steps forward. Staring over toward Ethan. One who said he'd send her back to Helheim. To that she only shrugged. It didn't seem like she was phased by the threat of death at the moment.
  6.
  7. "I am tired of being Sors's puppet. Forced to do his biding on threat of being annihilated. But I don't want to give him the satisfaction of killing me. Instead--- I much rather see if I can have the chance be purified and avenge Freya by killing Sors myself." She steeled her gaze. And yet at the same time, there were droplets of tears on her eyelids.
  8.
  9. "Banish me back to Helheim if you want. But I rather that, then stand serving a man who killed the only friend I ever had with his cruel orders."
  10. (Hathor)
  11. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  12.
  13. [22:34] I much rather see if I can have the chance to be purified
  14.
  15. Those were were what brought the old man's wrath down a few notches. It took him all the way back to Crafthold, twenty-four years prior. Elisheva was there, speaking to people who were in deep admiration towards her, cattering to their needs and answering their questions. A Nethradin had walked up to her, requesting to be... purified. To have their soul saved.
  16.
  17. ... It's possible but are you certain you wish to do this? Your master will not be happy.
  18.
  19. Those were her words. Those were the words that had been spoken to him so whole-heartedly, the words that discouraged the beast from going against the hand that puppeteered him.
  20.
  21. It brought Ethan back to the day he tried to help Jalokah. To give him mercy and a proper end away from the world that had tortured him. He sent him to the wrong place back then, too, leaving him to rot in the deepest part of Helheim.
  22.
  23. In full contrast to his previous aggressivity the Wayfinder stepped forth - warping right before the disarmed Hathor.
  24.
  25. "... It's possible, but are you sure you wanna do this? Your master ain't gonna be happy and there's no guarantee you'll be able to get back at him, only a possibility."
  26.
  27. He knew the way. He knew what he could do. With this staff, he knew it was possible, too.
  28. (Ethan Hawke)
  29. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  30.
  31. [22:36] Hathor says, "It's possible the purification won't work. It's possible I'll die in the prcess and get sent back to Helheim."
  32. [22:36] Hathor says, "It's possible that I won't be able to beat Sors."
  33. [22:37] Hathor says, "But if there's a chance to make up for my sins, I want it... Just as my beloved Vedran did, before he disappeared."
  34. [22:40] Ethan Hawke says, "Then that's what we'll do."
  35. [22:40] Ethan looked over his shoulder at the group that had gathered up.
  36. (Ethan Hawke)
  37. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  38.
  39. [22:40] Ethan Hawke says, "Go in Levengard, get some rest, try to explain yourselves and don't die."
  40. [22:41] Ethan Hawke says, "Now-"
  41. [22:41] Ethan Hawke says, "Let's get going. I know just the spot."
  42. [22:42] Ethan stepped closer, reaching a gloved left hand outwards. Doing this with a Nethradin would feel... definitely weird. He'd have to apply some extra protection to ensure she doesn't get sucked all the way down.
  43. (Ethan Hawke)
  44. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  45. [22:43] Hathor simply reached out for the hand? SHe didn't know what was going on. But her decision was made.
  46. (Hathor)
  47. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  48.
  49. [22:44] The moment she took his hand the both of them completely lost their physical form, having it converted to pure energy - turned into nothing more than strands of light as they traveled through the spirit world and towards a destination in the physical realm once more. One where he knew they would have some quiet and peace.
  50. (Ethan Hawke)
  51. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  52.
  53. [22:45] Hathor says, "Quiant."
  54. [22:45] Ethan Hawke says, "Feel free to take a seat."
  55. [22:45] Ethan Hawke says, "I'll be honest, Elisheva never told me how the process for purifying Nethradins works, but..."
  56. [22:49] Hathor says, "Perhaps similar to how Huangzhou was able to purge Occultism? I am not sure."
  57. [22:49] Ethan frowned a tad, recalling his own mistakes of the past as he retold them.
  58.
  59. "I've messed up before. I know what not to do. I've also learned a few things thanks to Calael and Thera about purification and spirits. This... is possible in theory, though I can't guarantee a return to full power until I've got what I need, but I'm certain I'll be able to keep your... you around forever."
  60.
  61. Delivering the whole idea right away would have been insane, though his words might just make more sense when he explains his idea later.
  62. (Ethan Hawke)
  63. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  64.
  65. [22:52] Folding both of her arms across from one another, both eyes of the Nethradin closed. Vedran was wanting to be on a path of redemption. He still clung on to humanity as best he could. SO why shouldn't she? "I don't care if I lose power in the short-term. So long as I can do something to keep from being damned to serve Sors. Or damned to spend eternity in Helheim."
  66. (Hathor)
  67. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  68.
  69. [22:54] Hathor says, "My adoptive Daughter, Maia."
  70. [22:55] Hathor says, "She had her occultism cleansed."
  71. [22:55] Hathor says, "Can that be apart of my cleansing perhaps? I don't want the dark urges to convince me to become a corrupted being again."
  72. [23:07] "I'm afraid Sunyata would probably not do much for you. It can seal occultism but it won't actually get you to be... well, not a Nethradin. The process is more complicated, see—"
  73.
  74. He adjusted himself on his seat, deciding not to confess to being the one that had brought Maia to Levengard to get cleansed in the first place. It would be better that way.
  75.
  76. "A Nethradin's just a spirit. A really corrupted, twisted, hurt, lost, and kinda messed up spirit, but still a spirit anyway. So what has to be done is what every spirit goes through at their end of their lives; purification through a star."
  77.
  78. A deep breath was brought in, a few thoughts properly assembling themselves as he kept speaking.
  79.
  80. "Of course, stars don't easily let go of people. They'll tug and force you back if you get all the way there. The reason vampires and undead can be purified is that they're tethered to a chosen star that sortof acts as an anchor for them to stay around longer. I don't really understand the whole science behind it, but I know that the cosmic energy is what cleanses best, especially when it comes to spirits and undead. Holy works, but it hurts and damages the spirit. A lot."
  81.
  82. The man brought forth his staff, demonstrating it. The green foci was made with the core of eidolon's star, though purified. Within it was a phoenix feather that endlessly seemed to regenerate and rebuild itself, feeding off the celestial object so its power could grow. Upon the fragment itself was etched a command circle, and beneath it, a spirit seemed to live there. Thankfully enough he was napping - no one wished to speak to a short, stout, shirtless, balding, overweight, chest-hair-baring angry spirit. The staff's long shaft had a line through it reminiscing of a Qilin or an Oscuri's body, though it was filled by fire that seemed to shift in form, at times solid, some other times liquid, and then gazeous. Definitely quite the weapon.
  83.
  84. "I can't tether you to a star, but we can do the opposite. If we have a contract and you're willing I can reactivate the runes that were used to give Phil a home and have your spirit using my staff as your anchor to life. The idea's to create a Wayfinding portal that leads all the way to a star, pretty much... purifying and killing you, then having the contract we make and the route I give the portal come back here so that your spirit's purified and livin' in there. With enough power - definitely a spire shard from what I've seen from Thera - I can probably give you a form that can be sustained physically. It's...
  85.
  86. ... It's possible. That's all I can tell you. Without that contract your spirit'll be pure but it won't stay around, so that revenge can't come."
  87.
  88. A lengthy explanation, for sure.
  89. (Ethan Hawke)
  90. [21:21] With a pause, she placed a hand on her chin. It seemed to be a lot to speak about. The potential to die and have her soul rocketed to a star to be cleansed and then somehow reconnected here? She wasn't sure about this process. Sweat shown upon her brow at the nervousness of it all.
  91.
  92. "But what if it wipes away who I am completely? Even... the still human parts of me? Take away my memories of who and what I am and why I am even doing this in the first place? Or what if you fail to have me brought back? Will Freya even get properly avenged and will I even be able to see my godson and my daughter again..." A finger finger placed itself on her lips. There was still sentimentalities that made her hesitant.
  93. (Hathor)
  94. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  95.
  96. [21:27] "It shouldn't wipe away your memories. Who you are is part of your spirit and... sure, people who die and return as spirits have that issue, but you're already... Well, dead. Getting cleansed won't hurt any of that, though it might end up messing with your magic— I'm not sure about that. It does for vampires, at the very least."
  97.
  98. A pause was taken before he nodded, giving some more words that may help her make a decision.
  99.
  100. "A risk like this one is the only way you could be purified. Both Cordelia and Taiga almost ended up completely gone when they were 'healed', this... won't kill you anymore than you are right now. With a contract drafted the worse that'll happen is that you'll be stuck living in my staff for longer than I expect. With a spire shard I'm certain your spirit can be given form again."
  101. (Ethan Hawke)
  102. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  103.
  104. [21:28] Hathor says, "..."
  105. [21:29] Hathor asks, "Maia. DId she have to endure any of tht?"
  106. [21:29] Ethan Hawke says, ".. Somewhat."
  107. [21:30] Ethan Hawke says, "Purification through a star is a whole-body experience. Sunyata affects your magical circuits as a whole."
  108. [21:30] Hathor says, "...I'll do it."
  109. [21:31] Hathor says, "But I eventually want my anchor to not be your staff. I want my independence. Even if it's n a physical object I have to have on my person."
  110. [21:31] Hathor says, "I don't want to be a puppet for anyone."
  111. [21:31] Ethan Hawke says, "The anchor's gonna remain the staff, but you won't have to be around it if we manage to bring you back as a working spirit."
  112. [21:32] Ethan Hawke says, "It's less like a chain and more like..."
  113. [21:32] Ethan Hawke asks, "How people are connected to stars through the lifestream, yeah?"
  114. [21:32] Ethan Hawke says, "It's just a way to make sure your spirit doesn't end up caught in the purification process and stays in the physical realm after."
  115. [21:33] Hathor says, "But if it's destroyed, I'd fade away."
  116. [21:33] Ethan Hawke says, ".. Yeah."
  117. [21:34] Ethan Hawke says, "I doubt it'll be, though. It's pretty sturdy."
  118. [21:34] Hathor says, "It could be destroyed while in your hands and suddenly I'd vanish."
  119. [21:34] Hathor says, "No one else is to know it's my tether."
  120. [21:34] Ethan Hawke says, "Of course."
  121. [21:35] Hathor says, "I don't want people to get at me through trying to get at that staff."
  122. [21:35] Ethan Hawke says, "I wouldn't want people destroying it to kill you, either."
  123. [21:35] Hathor says, "Then it's agreed."
  124. [21:36] Hathor says, "So long as I'm away from that madman."
  125. [21:36] Hathor says, "So long as I can get Maia away from him, and avenge Freya."
  126. [21:40] Ethan nodded towards Hathor before a piece of paper was pulled out. They did have to draft a contract, after all. The man began writing down, reading it aloud as he did to ensure everything would work out. He... wasn't sure this was how spirit contracts worked, but it had been that way with Phil, hadn't it? They probably didn't even need it to be honest, merely having a proper runescribe adjust for Hathor's presence would be enough.
  127.
  128. "With this contract an agreement between Ethan Hawke and Hathor has been met. Her spirit is to be tethered and bound to his staff, and, in exchange, he will ensure it returns after being cleansed through a star using both runes and Wayfinding to do so. Following that, Ethan is to do everything in his power to bring Hathor back to a proper state of existence, void of all corruption and evil taint."
  129.
  130. He looked up to her.
  131.
  132. "Sounds good?" He asked, passing the paper over.
  133. (Ethan Hawke)
  134. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  135.
  136. [21:44] Hathor says, "Amendment to that..."
  137. [21:44] Hathor says, "A state of existence in the living realm."
  138. [21:45] Ethan nodded, adding the amendment to all of that.
  139. (Ethan Hawke)
  140. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  141.
  142. [21:46] Hathor simply nods as well, keeping her eyes closed. One leg crossed over the other, bobbing up and down.
  143. (Hathor)
  144. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  145.
  146. [21:46] Hathor says, "I'm putting a lot of trust in you that you won't abuse this contract."
  147. [21:48] Ethan Hawke says, "I wouldn't."
  148. [21:48] Ethan Hawke says, "The whole process wouldn't even bind you to my command."
  149. [21:48] Ethan Hawke says, "It's just a way to keep you... well, here."
  150. [21:49] Hathor says, "Sors technically can't command me to do anything."
  151. [21:49] Hathor says, "He can just punish me. ANd send me back if I'm disobedient."
  152. [21:50] Ethan Hawke says, "Well, I doubt he'll be able to have any influence over you at all. Stars are crazy strong."
  153. [21:50] Hathor says, "I spent centuries in Helheim. I don't want to go back. I want to do something to redeem my soul."
  154. [21:50] Ethan Hawke says, "Now, all that's left to do is find the proper runescribe for this. And I know exactly the one."
  155. [21:50] Hathor asks, "Will they be more willing to try and save my spirit than just destroy me for what I fell to?"
  156. [21:51] Ethan Hawke says, "She'll listen to me."
  157. [21:51] Ethan Hawke says, "Especially if it's to purify rather than destroy."
  158. [21:51] Hathor says, "Some rather destroy, than go through the more strenous method. Especially when I am still likely to act on impulses due to how my form is. It's taking a good bit of willpower to do this."
  159. [21:52] Ethan Hawke says, "Yeah."
  160. [21:52] Ethan Hawke says, "You can come with me, or stay here. I think waiting a few minutes here is probably safer and it'll avoid anyone even thinking that my staff has anything to do with you."
  161. [21:53] Hathor says, "Humans can come back from falling. Unlike angels..."
  162. [21:53] Hathor asks, "Am I still a human, at my core?"
  163. [21:53] Hathor says, "It's what I've always questioned."
  164. [21:53] Ethan Hawke says, ".. Dunno."
  165. [21:54] Ethan Hawke says, "You could be a kitsune or something."
  166. [21:54] Ethan Hawke asks, "Who knows, yeah?"
  167. [21:54] Hathor says, "They are still human souls."
  168. [21:54] Ethan Hawke says, "It was a joke."
  169. [21:54] Hathor says, "Heh."
  170. [21:55] Ethan Hawke asks, "Anyway, wanna come or stick with the safe option?"
  171. [21:55] Hathor asks, "Where would we be going? And would it even be safe for me to arrive there without your presence being an escort of sorts?"
  172. [21:56] Ethan Hawke says, "I think it'd be crazy unsafe."
  173. [21:56] Ethan Hawke says, "I'm dropping by Levengard to find that runescribe."
  174. [21:56] Ethan Hawke says, "Then comin' right back when I find her."
  175. [21:56] Hathor says, "Ah."
  176. [21:56] Hathor says, "I suppose i can stay."
  177. [21:56] Ethan Hawke says, "Sure."
  178. [21:56] Ethan Hawke says, "Have a drink or something while you wait. I won't be long."
  179. [21:56] Hathor says, "But I need time to collect myself."
  180. [21:56] Ethan vanished in a flash of light!
  181. (Ethan Hawke)
