  1. The Venetian Chronicles: Kate Michaels
  2.
  3. Yuuko: (fumbling with the camera before mounting it on a tripod. Before adjusting the focus on the camera and Clearing her throat. As she clears her throat, Tuk places his head on the couch behind her watching the interview.) this is Council envoy Yuuko Shirakawa, agent of the dragon, and historian for the archives in Dublin Ireland. As part of the Chronicles initiative, I am interviewing active agents from the 21st century so that future generations may better understand the context in which events are taking place. This session is being recorded on 07/09/2016 in Greenfield Ireland, at the Green residence.
  4. Yuuko: Could you please state your full name, date of birth, affiliation and rank.
  5. Kate: (Kate speaks with a rich, warm voice in a region-free English accent.) Kate Michaels, tenth of the tenth nineteen seventy eight. Templar. My rank is roughly equivalent to Knight Captain.
  6. Yukko: Can you tell us about your family?
  7. Kate: I don’t have one.
  8. Yuuko: Where did you grow up?
  9. Kate: RAF Gatow, Berlin, up until ‘85. Then Kent.
  10. Yuuko: How would you describe your childhood?
  11. Kate: Torturous. I spent my formative years in a military academy. For boys.
  12. Yuuko: How were you first introduced to the secret world?
  13. Kate: I stumbled into it. My career before all this was in the London Metropolitan Police. I worked a case involving a blood mage murderer. It was hushed up and so was I. You could say I was press-ganged.
  14. Yuuko: Did you have any contact (either directly or indirectly) with your society before your powers awakened?
  15. Kate: Yes. I was a Templar for seven years before the bee.
  16. Yuuko: Can you tell us what a normal day looks like for you?
  17. Kate: I don’t have normal days.
  18. Yuuko: Has your work for your society ever brought you into contact with anyone who would be considered historically significant (world leaders, celebrities, scientist and engineers.)
  19. Kate: Yes.
  20. Yuuko: Have you ever seen an event reported in the media and known that it was a lie and if so can you tell us what really happened?
  21. Kate: Yes and no. (She smiles slightly.)
  22. Yuuko: What was the last event you can remember that shook both the secret world and the mundane equally?
  23. Kate: Tokyo is the obvious answer. Rather hard to keep that one quiet.
  24. Yuuko: Have you ever participated in an event considered historically important to the mundane world and if so was it on behalf of your society
  25. Kate: Everything we do is important to the mundane world.
  26. Yuuko: Have you ever been on a operation where you were afraid from your life.
  27. Kate: Yes, many. It’s part of the job.
  28. Yuuko: What is the strangest thing you have ever encountered?
  29. Kate: (She thinks a while.) It’s hard to pick something out as the most strange in this line of work. I’m going to say… apathy. People who can make a difference who think the fate of the world isn’t their problem. I’ll never understand that.
  30. Yuuko: Thinking back on your career, are there any operation that have stuck with you?
  31. Kate: Yes. (She smiles again.)
  32. Yuuko: Thank you for taking the time to speak with us agent Michaels.
  33. Kate: My pleasure.
