The kingdom of Levinheim was something of a curiosity among modern civilizations. Surrounded by nothing but volatile waters
and sheer peaks, and constantly battered by lengthy, harsh winters, the place was long considered unconquerable - a
testament to human stubborness and paranoia.

But it was not an external threat that would crush Levinheim.

The few survivors of the catastrophe spoke nothing but madness, and it is likely that all are dead as I write these words.
Rumors persist, of course, about what happened that night - plague, grand conspiracies - but none of these explanations
have satisfied me. Our expedition has just arrived at the city gates, and there's a mix of thrill and fear within each of
us.

The Harbinger
"I feel a sense of kinship with the City. Unending solitude can be quite a bore."

Harbingers are mysterious figures that have a link to the Other Side - their primary task consists of shepherding human
souls so that they may ascend. Occasionally, however, events on the human world disrupt this process and they are forced to
take drastic action.

Rosencrantz
"Violence begets violence, hate begets hate - you've heard the cliche. These aren't just 'some rebels' - executing their
leaders won't ensure anything but a swift retaliation and more mass graves." - Rosencrantz, to Viola

Rosencrantz is an esteemed member of the Levinheim Guard. Native to Levinheim, but worldly and well-read, his ideals clash
often with the traditionalist hierarchy, but he lacks the courage to voice his objections. The Guard's struggle with the
rebel forces has left him deeply conflicted, almost to the point of existential crisis - after all, he finds their beliefs
more appealing by the day.

Viola
"She got really angry with me once; told me to my face that I was better off a miscarriage. But man, it wasn't the words...
It was those eyes. Cold and remorseless, it's as if they were staring at my soul and telling me 'you don't deserve to be

Viola is a member of the Levinheim Medical Corps. combat division. Fair features and great beauty characterize the Levinheim
native, but a deeper look reveals a remarkably damaged individual. Skilled and dutiful to the point of being obsessive
compulsive, she is equally well-known for being temperamental, intolerant and inflexible. Her family life is reportedly a
mess and even her closest friends admit that they don't really know what's going on in her head anymore.

Cordelia
"Her language may well be coarse, and she's as bawdy as any tavern-going man, but I've never known anyone more kind and
loving. A true saint under all the pretense." - Tamburlane, to Guildenstern

Cordelia is a member of the Levinheim Guard and is representative of a new generation of Guardsmen - young second-generation
immigrants that seek a better life than their parents and a way to support their families. Cordelia herself was orphaned
early, and has done many things she isn't proud of to survive, but a pivotal moment in her teenage years made her turn over
a new leaf and develop a staunch devotion to her duty as a Guardsman and as a youth counselor at the Lower Residential
District's church.

Tamburlane
"I might not see eye to eye with him on all things, but there is no one I'd rather have at my back than he." - Guildenstern,
to Juno

Tamburlane has served as the Commander of the Levinheim Guard for over twenty years with few hierarchal disputes in a
extremely turbulent political environment. This is credited to his leadership skills, his connections in the capital and -
most regrettably, in his opinion, his status as a Lennish pureblood. Given the Royal Army's lack of combat experience,
Tamburlane might well be Levinheim's most competent military professional. He considers the Guard his extended family and
is troubled by his inability to resolve the conflict between the rebels and capital politicians.
