  1. Tell us about who you are. How would your family, friends, and/or members of your community describe you? If possible, please include something about yourself that you are most proud of and why. (maximum 250 words)
  2.
  3. My friends would describe me as hardworking, since I am always trying my hardest with the activities I am involved in, I am flexible, and I am always working hard to show the best of what I can accomplish. They also describe me as very organized because I am always making sure that everything is in order and sufficient. My mother and father would describe me as a resilient person because I am always finding the strength to keep going. Back in 2014, my house burned down in front of my eyes and I did not inform any of my friends about it. I was severely embarrassed about the whole situation and kept silent. I was just starting high school at that time and I did not want this hardship to completely tear me apart. When the house finished being rebuilt, which took almost a year, I bounced back and rebuilt myself.

  5. What I am proud of is my confidence. Confidence is what shaped me the most and without it, I would not be the confident person I am today. Confidence is not something that I was born with or inherited by my parents. I gained it by believing in myself and knowing my strengths and weaknesses. Confidence has helped me expand my comfort zone. Before I was a cautious person and would always feel scared and uncomfortable with the idea of trying new things. Now, I am a more confident person and open to learning and experiencing new things.

  14. Personal growth of myself is something that is incredibly important to me. Everyday, day and night, I am always thinking about where I am headed towards in my life and what I am going to make of myself in the future. "Everyday just becomes another day of doing what I did yesterday, and the day before," I am always thinking. It causes me stress, anxiety, and confusion. It leads to me questioning the things I do. Why am I here? What is my purpose? Is this really necessary? This is when I felt personal growth was absolutely important and crucial to me because I wanted to understand and develop myself in order to reach my fullest potential. I did not want to live my life too comfortably anymore. Ever since I started high school, I started keeping a record of my thoughts, experiences, and key achievements so later in my life I can reflect back on them and see what made me the person I am today, and how much I have improved myself. Did I changed for the better? Or am I making repetitive mistakes? Joining clubs at my school such as "Refugee Relief Club" and "Killarney Creates Change Club" and making even the smallest choices like choosing a healthier food choice are some examples of how I am working on my personal growth. Personal growth of myself is something I highly value because I want to accomplish goals while improving my individuality one small step at a time.

  30. Getting a job is an advancement in life and gives you a glimpse of adulthood. It's a very special moment in your life and a proud moment, knowing you are now old enough to earn your own money without the help from others. Not only does a job teach you the value of money and hard work they also shape your interpretation of the world. That's why one of the activities that I felt truly changed me as an individual the most happened last year during the summertime which was working my first job. Working at Playland/PNE during the summer as a sweeper completely changed me. Although the job was sweeping garbage and cleaning up other people's mess which isn't glamorous, it taught me new skills and challenged me to take risks. Before working there, I was a shy person. By sweeping and cleaning the Playland/PNE grounds, it made me open up because I was constantly being surrounded by a lot of people from adults to kids and making sure they are satisfied with everything. People that asked me questions such as "Where are the food stands located?" and "When does the park close?" helped me with my professionalism because it taught me how to respond to questions in a responsive and professional way. Even dumb and unnecessary questions such as "Where does the water come from?" and "Where is the washroom?" even when the washroom was right in front of them helped me with my professionalism as well. The job also made me understand what it is like for people working this type of job. Sweepers are often looked down upon and are considered the worst job at PNE/Playland because it is considered to be a "useless" and "dirty job", but most people do not know that they are the reason why the grounds of PNE/Playland are spotless and squeaky clean.
