  1. [MUTANTS, CULLABLE MUTATIONS, AND WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU TRY TO CULL A MUTATED TROLL]
  2. Grubs are culled according to Empire standard, save for Fuchsia, Violet, and Jade grubs, which are so rare that culling restrictions are notably relaxed.
  3.
  4. This means that violets and fuchsias, over years of breeding in mutations, are more likely to have mutations which severely impact their quality of life; they are also more likely to have cullable mutations such as tails. However, due to their rarity, seadwellers are unlikely to be targeted for culling by hemozealots on Verdant; indeed, they are viewed with awe, fear and suspicion.
  5.
  6. Jades on Verdant are much more likely to present with the Rainbowdrinker trait due to natural selection and the increased likelihood of a drinker Jade surviving to adulthood/to mating. Jadebloods are also more likely to present tolerable mutations, and are more likely than other castes to be allowed to live with cullable mutations.
  7.
  8.
  9. [MUTANT GRUBS/THEIR CURRENT PROTECTION]
  10. Due to the extinction of trollkind, JADEBLOODS have decided to ALLOW ALL MUTATIONS THAT ARE NOT HARMFUL. This means that grubs which would have previously been culled are allowed to live; though not enough time has *passed* for an actual mutant to be born, this rule is causing quite the kerfuffle on VERDANT. It also, in a sense, means that JADEBLOODS are pressuring the LAND-DWELLING NOBILITY to put out an order banning the killing of ALL mutants.
  11.
  12. This is HIGHLY UNLIKELY TO HAPPEN, especially considering that ALTERNIA-BORN TROLLS tend to kill WHOEVER THEY PLEASE.
  13.
  14.
  15. [SO ADULT TROLLS ARE SUBJECT TO CULLING, BUT GRUBS ARE NOT?]
  16. Yes, and here's why:
  17. Living as a mutant adult troll (one who violates current Verdant law) is illegal. Their birth was quite literally a crime, and they are a criminal.
  18.
  19. A grub being born under the current mutant protection clause is not violating current law.
  20.
  21.
  22. [WHAT IS CONSIDERED CULLABLE ON VERDANT?]
  23. Those with extreme blood mutations are culled on sight. This encompasses candy-red blood, lime blood, pink blood, extremely off-spectrum blood, etc. Rustblood seadwellers/lowbloods who present with gills are incredibly rare, and also *very* cullable.
  24.
  25. Those with mutations which negatively impact quality of life (save for the aforementioned three castes) are cullable.
  26.
  27. Trolls with multiple eyes are cullable unless the caste is Cerulean, as their rare psionic gifts are often accompanied by eye mutations.
  28.
  29. Trolls with tails (save for Jades, Violets and Fuchsias) are cullable.
  30.
  31. Trolls with wings are cullable.
  32.
  33. Full albinism is cullable (white skin).
  34.
  35.
  36.
  37. [TOLERABLE MUTATION EXAMPLES]
  38. Many tolerable mutations that would have trolls culled on other planets are generally tolerated on Verdant and are afforded legal protection.
  39.
  40. Webbed hands or feet are allowed.
  41.
  42. Slight albinism of hair (white hair, streaks of white in hair) or horns (lighter horns than usual, lightened keratin) is allowed.
  43.
  44. Off-shade blood that is generally a bit light for caste or dark is allowed. Blood color which nearly touches another caste is considered normal variation within caste color and is not regarded as 'cusping' another caste legally. (Blood colors that are so light as to appear nearly white are, of course, cullable.)
  45.
  46. Cuspblooded trolls are not cullable (those on the purple-violet divide, or purples with fins).
  47.
  48.
  49. [WHAT HAPPENS IF YOUR TROLL TRIES TO CULL A CULLABLE MUTANT?]
  50. Your troll can cull these trolls without legal punishment, though they may get a nasty injury from the cullable troll: A coinflip/d2 is rolled to determine if they are injured, 1 meaning they are injured, 2 meaning they are not.
  51. A rollbot in the server will be used by the culling player to determine if they are injured, and if so, what injuries they receive:
  52. A d10 will be rolled to determine injury type.
  53.
  54. 1: You receive scratches which do not scar.
  55. 2. You receive deep scratches which become infected. Your troll is required to take medication for the next week and mention may be made ICly.
  56. 3. You receive deep scratches; one of them scars (scarring beneath neck level) and you are required to take medication (see 2).
  57. 4. You receive a scratch on the face which leaves a scar and are required to take medication for your other injuries (see 2).
  58. 5. One of your horns is broken in two.
  59. 6. You sustain an eye injury which forces you to wear glasses or contacts for the rest of your life.
  60. 7. A swiping attack means that you go blind in one eye--it is visibly injured. Your choice of red pupil, losing the eye entirely, or a missing pupil. Scarring around the eye is encouraged.
  61. 8. You miraculously receive no injuries. The Messiahs have looked upon you fondly.
  62. 9. Your hair is ripped out, forcing you to crop it short. If you do not have long hair or are bald, your scalp is clawed with sharp, troll talons, leaving residual scarring and causing one streak to grow back as albinistic due to follicle death/stress.
  63. 10. You lose a limb. Though it is replaced by a metallic limb which has sensation and works roughly as well as your old limb, you've lost a part of your body that you can never get back.
  64.
  65. You may roll a larger die for these castes, who may receive an additional effect:
  66. VIOLETS AND FUCHSIAS:
  67. 11. Your fins have been shredded. Though you have not lost them, they are ruined aesthetically.
  68. 12. Your attacker clawed your fins so violently that they were infected--you have lost them, and they are replaced by scarring.
  69.
  70. JADEBLOODS:
  71. 11. The severity of the defender's attack triggered a mutation within you in order to prevent extreme blood loss/death. You are now a Rainbowdrinker. If you are already a Rainbowdrinker, no effect.
  72.
  73. LOWBLOODS-TO-OLIVE:
  74. 11. Your courage in culling an undesirable has won over a clutch of spirits, who will now speak to you in cryptic whispers and advice. (You have gained the ability to commune with spirits.) If you already have the ability to commune with spirits, your injuries are healed and your gift in speaking to spirits is improved upon greatly; they are now more willing to give you useful advice and hints about your future.
  75. 12. Your courage in culling an undesirable has inspired an Ancestor (an older, legendary troll with descendants, on-planet) to gift you a special weapon; weapon is determined by mods.
  76.
  77.
  78. [CAN ALTERNIANS CULL 'NON-CULLABLE' TROLLS WITHOUT PUNISHMENT?]
  79. Only in these cases:
  80. Mutated jadebloods that have cullable mutations; this means that while a mutated Jadeblood might be allowed to live on Verdant, unbothered, an Alternian could kill them on-sight without consequences.
  81.
  82. Mutated Verdant fuchsias or violets whose mutations are so negative that they negatively impact caste-presentation or existence; ie, a seadweller born without fins or a seadweller that cannot actually live in water.
  83.
  84.
  85. [ATTEMPTING TO CULL SOMEONE WITH A NON-CULLABLE MUTATION WILL]
  86. 1. Result in them not dying nor being harmed (unless the player consents for whatever reason),
  87. 2. Will result in your character being seriously injured by the Drones in retaliation--their injury will match whatever the non-cullable troll's injury was ('Eye for an Eye clause').
  88. 3. Your troll's third attempt at culling a non-cullable troll will result in their inescapable death at the hands of the Drones ('Three Strikes, You're Out').
  89.
  90.
  91. [HOW DO MUTANTS AVOID CULLING?]
  92. Blood mutants sheltered by jadebloods may be advised to take on ANONBLOOD rites and become TEMPLE KEEPERS or SPIRIT COMMUNERS, holy positions which are protected by THE GRAND HIGHBLOOD'S ORDER HIMSELF. This ensures a diversity in caste that is seldom seen on other planets. It is illegal to attempt to expose an ANONBLOOD TEMPLE KEEPER or SPIRIT COMMUNERS' TRUE SHADE. It is also illegal to TRY TO KILL an ANONBLOOD TEMPLE KEEPER OR SPIRIT COMMUNER if they accidentally or purposefully display their blood color and it is A CULLABLE COLOR.
  93.
  94. They may also take up 'The Grey Caste' or Hemoanonimity.
