  1. Nikolaj Reijonen (ne Afeworki)
  2.
  3. There is no such thing as a noble defeat.
  4.
  5. Mistakes happen in the Fomaltine Republic. Not often, but sometimes they happen. Niko's station was sundered by a Posthuman attack. Such things happen, still, even decades after the war. Deftly, Niko was shuffled into another decanting group, given the surname Reijonen and told to forget about it. He did. They didn't. He was only six but that's old enough for an ingroup-outgroup dynamic to form. He came from a richer station, with their natural speech patterns and a sensitivity that's rarely allowed in the backwaters of his new family. They hated him beyond reason, and for a full year Niko was convinced that he had died and been sent to Hell. And then he decided to get over it.
  6.
  7. Officially, the death was an accident. He was seven and /mortified/. It was an expert piece of manipulation. Thoughts that he might have committed the murder on purpose were aborted- how dare you think something like that about such a pitiful kid. Their hatred lagged away, and once there was once again the regulation 108 memebers of the Reijonen decanting group he stopped sticking out so well. Except for the kid's friends- but, as he grew slightly larger, he became stronger. Blackmail was a useful tool, as were threats of violence. With his intelligence, how could he have gone into anything but the millitary- the apex of strength in the fascist Fomaltine Republic? Normandy is only slightly above his methods, but he tries hard. Very hard. And if he's not a commander, if he's not a second, he's sure as shit going to have their ears, because that's how it works.
