- title: What is DPI / CPI?
- by: Joe Elflanded
- intro: Have you ever heard the term: "DPI" or "CPI"? Ever wondered what they mean? Well In this article of Prosettings, I'll tell you all the knowledge you need about these 2 terms!
- body-1: Let's start with CPI! The term CPI, or "Count Per Inch", is how much steps the mouse will report, when it moves 1 inch, lets take this into perspective! You play the game Fortnite, and you hop on a match, gather your friends, etc. Then you land in a place, and you move your mouse by 1 inch. You currently have 1 CPI. So, how much inches you move, is how much CPI you get!
- body-2: Now let's start with DPI! Which is "Dot-Per-Second"! The DPI is, how sensitive your mouse is. Is the farther your mouse-cursor will be when you move in your game! So basically, if you have a low level DPI, your mouse will move slower, if you have a higher DPI, your mouse will move faster!
- conclusion: Both DPI/CPI, have different uses, and they both can affect your mouse's game play! I do not have an opinion on which is more useful/useless. I think they both are good to use in different software, depending on your preferences!
