  1. I think brown is the most "well I can't complain" switch, i.e. the safest option. My keyboard that I had sitting on my desk most of the time was browns. But I also liked my linear switches (blacks) in my tiny purple keyboard. My last keyboard has clears which are browns that require more force and i think that they're my favorite, the linear is more for when I am paying extreme attention to whether my keypress shows up on the screen otherwise I prefer the tactility to know that the key was pressed
  2. but linear switches are the "gaming" switches because you don't have the tactile bump in the way of pressing the key... but at the same time that bump is very useful
