  1. @Approved Character ***With a final, fiery spark from Featherhead, the object the People of the West had carried to the lake in a bundle ignited. It's identity was clear now to all who hadn't seen it before; a mammoth tusk with a broken tip.***
  2.
  3. ***With a whooping warcry, Featherhead snatched up the flaming tusk and charged through the stunned People of the West and gray wolves, right towards Horntail. He ran forward without any care for his life, like a bison. The sabertooth's claws lashed out lightning fast, clutching the youth by the shoulders deeply and holding him close for a killing bite. But it never came.***

  5. ***Instead, Horntail chokes, his jaws pausing an inch over Featherhead's face. His eyes glance downward, finding the source of his pain; the burning mammoth tusk impaling his heart. The sabertooth doesn't make a sound as he slides to the ground...and is then immediately set upon by People of the West and wolves, covering him until he disappears from sight. Only triumphant hoots, howls, and the sound of breaking bones and tearing flesh mark where the old sabertooth used to be. That, and the burning brand of mammoth tusk, sticking out in the growing darkness of twilight like a second sun to replace the bloody old one.***

  7. ***Just as the combined pachyderm herds were about to crush into the fray, Wisdom froze up. So did Glory. All eyes saw the burning tusk, identified it within their memories. They looked to the Mother, and the Mother hesitated for a second in replying to their unspoken question. It was the wrong move.***

  9. ***"YOU KNEW!" Glory screamed, her trumpet so thundering that the ground literally shook. The Mother looked away, unable to deny the accusation. Without another word, Wisdom trumpets a mournful retreat to the Plains herd, and the mammoths fall back. The mastodons do their best to break up the last bits of fighting by themselves, but it's not as quick, not as efficient. By the time their huge forms finish sweeping the field with their tusks, the ground is littered in bodies. Four People of the West, a good number of gray wolves, but many, many lowlanders. Among them are Crashing Thunder, Southwest Lightning, and Saber the Swift. There's also Horntail, his body mutilated and decapitated. Where it ended up is obvious; Featherhead's feathers are gone now, replaced by the fanged head of Horntail.***
