Qrow’s Nails
He has a much better self-image due to his Semblance, which means a much healthier relationship with Team STRQ.

However, once Summer goes for her final mission, Qrow becomes jaded with the concept of having relationships as a Huntsman and shelters himself away from friends and family, tying to Blake’s interpretation of her Semblance.

Hours prior, Qrow encounters Blake and knocks her out. This delay caused him to be too late in saving Amber.


Blake’s Nails
Has a much worse self-image due to her Semblance, enabling her to be a nervous wreck.

An incident leading to her father’s killing at the hands of humans caused her to both lose faith in humanity and believe she’s to blame for her father’s death.

This results in Sienna Khan taking over a lot quicker and enabling the White Fang to increase their brutality, all but becoming a murderous cult.

Adam takes Blake in, believing her to be perfect for his grooming. It succeeds, but Blake views his relationship with him as mentor-and-student because of this grooming.

This leads to Blake not wanting to leave Adam during the Black Trailer, but her Semblance kicks off and causes her to leave regardless. Then, her misfortune leads to Qrow encountering her, effectively being bad luck for him because it made him late to save Amber.


Clover’s Nails
Because he’s still training in Atlas Academy, he’s a member of Team CMTH (Coppersmith) with Marrow, Harriet, and Tortuga.


Sun’s Nails
He’s a teacher at Mistral, stowing away to have a closer look at a team that he noticed weren’t in the paper work (cough the team that’s infiltrating Beacon).
