- Introducing one of the biggest features that has been requested for Music for the End of the World...
- RADIO AT THE END OF THE WORLD
- This adds an entirely new module and feature to the mod that has been highly requested. Radio at the End of the World introduces 10* radio stations to the game, accessed by standard radio items. Any radio item tuned to the right frequency will play music from a selection designed for that station.
- These songs are completely synced in both time and track across all players on a server.
- This comes with an entirely new page of sandbox options, allowing you to customize the following:
- - Whether or not this feature is enabled at all
- - What frequency each radio station broadcasts over
- - Whether or not the stations have hosts that will speak between each song in standard PZ lore fashion. Hosts can be individually enabled or disabled.
- - Whether the hosts have significant airtime to tell stories/do bits/whatever, on a host-by-host basis
- - Whether radios play songs in a sequential repeating order, or if they play in random order (with no repeats until the list loops)
- - Whether radios include songs from the Extended, Silent Hill or Home Labelled packs. The Silent Hill pack adds a new host, as does the Home Labelled pack, whereas the Extended songs are mixed into the other host's tracklists.
- This also comes with a global chat command allowing you to skip a song on a particular frequency, or on all frequencies.
- Each of these ten radio stations is hosted by a different character, all written by me! Depending on your settings, they can be completely disabled so that the stations are music only, they can have fairly long radio lore segments, or they can simply serve to bridge the gap between one song and another with a couple sentences.
- Some of the lore messages also carry some genuinely useful advice for new players; I'm a bit of a PZ veteran, so within the limitations of speaking in-universe, there might be some actually useful info in there!
- Also, hosts that are given longer dialogue tend to imply that the world has at least enough survivors for the hosts to have interviews/believe that there are at least a fair number of listeners for the most part. If you want to lean away from that for roleplaying/lore reasons, hosts will rarely reference this in their shortened dialogue.
- The radio stations are on these frequencies:
-
100.2: Radio at the End of the World. Pop and easy listening station hosted by Adelaide Denton, a sweet and shy doctor who occasionally divulges survival tips and little anecdotes. Clearly not the best showman, but she wants to share her music collection with everyone nevertheless.
- 96.8: Jammin' with Jas. A punk and hard rock station operated by a woman who identifies herself only as 'Jas'. Equally as biting and sarcastic as she is aloof, she talks about her strong opinions on various subjects big and small, and gives the occasional tip.
- 88.6: Tommy's Country. Fairly simple: A reserved but friendly man named Tommy with a Southern drawl tells stories about the other survivors he's encountered, gives firearm and survival tips, and talks about philosophy, in between various folk and country music. He occasionally has other survivors on his show.
- 106.6: Rap & RNB with Miri. Plays rap and R&B, as you might imagine. A direct title for a direct woman, this station is run by a gruff woman of few words, identifying herself as Miri. Miri is acerbic and forthright, and mostly uses her platform to divulge combat-related tips, but she occasionally lets the listener in on her life a bit more, and her occasional taste for softer RNB might imply a gentler side.
- 108: Death's Door Rock: A classic rock and hair metal station run by a man named Josh. Josh is a friendly and energetic man, encouraging survivors, telling hopeful stories and bidding survivors to give the zombies hell. He occasionally brings other survivors onto his show for interviews.
- 89.6: The New Wave: A station playing electronic music, trip-hop and other more experimental music. The host identifies himself as Damien, and seeks to confront the apocalypse with relaxed vibes and calm enthusiasm. He too offers some encouragement to survivors, gives tips on finding loot and survival necessities, and tells stories he's heard from other survivors.
- 88.6: Six Feet Under: A station playing mostly somber, dark songs. It is hosted by a woman named Jacie, who claims to be living in a bunker somewhere outside of Knox. The somber goth drones as she tries to entertain herself in her bunker, makes awkward jokes and small talk, and talks about her life and little fun facts she knows.
- 99.4: Indy's Indie: Hosted by a man named Indy, this station primarily plays various indie music of the time, particularly indie rock. He muses on his new life in the apocalypse, offers fun facts about the artists he plays, brings on guests, and generally keeps a relaxed mien to the whole production.
- 103.4: Pile o' Music with Ronny Ron: A variety station that plays all sorts of songs, hosted by an eccentric man named Ronny Ron. He describes his new life in the apocalypse in vivid terms, telling humorous stories of his encounters with the zombies, and is overall jovial. Ron takes pride in his vast collection of music, and plays whatever he grabs off his pile.
