- Chances are, you've heard of Tenryuden, a prosperous country in the far east, for the longest time until now under the control of the Tenryu empire, a centralized order that can be best described as a heavily militarized monarcho-fascist republic. Many generations ago, the Tenryu Empires had only just begun its grip over the eastern lands-Back then, it was simply known as "Aoriku"-and after a series of political fallings out with the surrounding unions that resulted in a conflict that was less of a war and more of a violent series of clashes, and through the use of brute force and political espionage, all who weren't wholesale absorbed into the order of the Tenryu were forced to leave elsewhere, with a majority of those migrating to the Shadowed Country, or Kagegashima.
- This doesn't mean that every outsider party within Tenryuden had died out though, even after all these years, and that brings us to Aum Kagero.
- After the fall of the Tenryu Empire, having collapsed due to both a series of economic snafus as well as the heir to the Tenryu throne becoming a traitor who just straight up murdered most of the other important figureheads (long story), those who were shoved aside to the secret undergrounds of Tenryuden or to the fringes of the Shadowed Country had saw an opportunity to take their pieces of the pie that the Tenryu empire had been hoarding to itself. Aum Kagero is just one of a few of these parties, but is also by far the biggest, with around 11,000 known members. Aum Kagero has a complex doctrine derived from multiple religions and philosophical ideologies, with an overall mission to clean the world of the living nature of sin and the flaws of authoritarianism. The Aum Kagero is oft classified by outside sources as a dangerous cult front and terrorist organization, a reputation that isn't entirely unearned; Prior to the collapse of the Tenryu empire, the group had been responsible for a series of massacres and terror attacks against major Tenryu strongholds, and encouraged any civilians who had joined the group to "free themselves from authoritarian shackles", which usually meant the murder of any surrounding figures who had a stake in Tenryu's status quo.
- The political executions were brutal, with liberated towns being strung up with the bodies of samurai and patrolmen, leading to an estimated body count in the thousands.
- Despite a very anti authoritarian stance, the Aum Kagero still retains a monarchal leadership in the form of the Tsukai Clan.
- Unlike the Tenryu order, being part of the Tsukai clan doesn't require any blood relations, but to join it requires complete separation from the rest of ones old family. One of the highest positions you can achieve within said clan is the title of Tensoku. The Tensoku is the "face" of the entire party in a sense, given great religious reverence to the point of being a god-like figure worthy of worship. The Tensoku is always male, but there's been some dispute over that with time.
- AND SO THAT FINALLY BRINGS US TO PRINCE SHIRANUI, the current Tensoku of the Tsukai Clan and thus the entire Aum Kagero (better keep up with this shit). Formerly known as Princess Hichifu, they're the younger sibling of Prince Hazugiri, the other candidate for the next Tensoku following the passing of the previous one. As Hazugiri believed himself not worthy of the title, he passed it onto his younger sibling, albeit after a bit of drama due to believing that the only reason why Shiranui believed himself to be a man was was to become the Tensoku; It was obviously a bit deeper than that but thats all a bunch of GENDER POLITICS that I wont touch on much here bc this backstory is getting long enough.
- Being the current leader of a notorious death cult, Prince Shiranui is very charismatic, intelligent, and has a strong, if somewhat cruel, sense of justice. His head is always full of complex thoughts, and can think up intricate plans in a short amount of time. Being extremely pragmatic, he believes that all his actions are for the greater good, and is willing to trick and decieve as many people as possible to achieve the goals of his party. Due to having fairly strict standards of purity, he often sees others outside of the Aum Kagero is being expendable, but believes they can be "redeemed" if given the proper circumstances.
- Prince is fairly antagonistic to most of the cast, and has a way of just saying whatever will rile up whoever he's talking to the most, taking every opportunity to provoke others into doing something stupid. He can come off as selfish and manipulative, casually destroying other peoples lives for his own gain, but this is fairly par for the course for the Tensoku. When not trying to pull off some master plan, his personality during his downtime is fairly heartfelt and he believes most people have it within them to change for the better, even if he may not necessarily agree with them in the end.
- Janine is one of the few non-Aum members to be on friendly terms with Shiranui, mainly due to helping him establish his identity to Hazugiri and by proxy the rest of the clan.
- Gameplay: Prince is a swift, combo-heavy character. He's pretty floaty, literally, he's always floating in the air, constantly hovering a short distance above the ground, and can thus move and control the air with relative ease. (Insert more practical stuff here im not good at these)
- Stylistically, nearly all of Prince's moves are derived from classic anime for some reason. His Up Feature is the Hawk Run, where he turns to the side and takes on the image of a hawk in flight, capable of air dashing in 8 directions, and can pull this off twice in a row, kinda like pikachu's quick attack.
- His Neutral feature, the Tsukuyomi, sends out a crescent shaped projectile from his blade arms, which can be charged. Uncharged, Tsukuyomi is a fairly speedy projectile comparable to Falco's laser, but charged, it becomes a large and slow moving pressure tool.
- His down feature is the Muteki Kick, which is comparable to the falcon kick, but once it makes contact with an opponent, he can follow it up with multiple rapid fire kicks, and end the combo in a launcher either to the side or the air.
- (Will insert more later when Im not tired as sin)
