The Tall Tale of Mike Groshans

Mikes tournament prep started with Mitchell Davies @MissingNoL giving him a Japanese team he found 5 days before the tournament.

Mike didn’t even play a game with the team until Wednesday where he played a few games on showdown with it and thought yeah let’s roll with this.

Without anymore practice Mike hopped in the car and jammed to my weeb music for four hours on our way to SLO.

Skip to the tournament, ROUND 1 Mike plays the eventual winner and his finals opponent Brandon Meckely. Mike sets up TR game one and reaches for that BIG MEGA button. To Mike’s surprise, his mega button was nowhere to be found... Mike manages to take a game off of Brandon with normal Camerupt but falls victim to Brandon’s team.

Mike flies to the fourth island to obtain the mega ring as after beating the game he forgot to grab it lol. So now we are in the money.

Mike sweeps through Swiss ending 7-1 and into the top cut.

Mike wins his top 8 match cleanly which you can watch on Nuggetbridge’s twitch channel.

Now we’re on to top 4 vs fellow NorCal resident Patrick Smith @SalamenaceVGC. They made Mike trade his team over to the streaming cartridge since they both had digital carts. Game 1 Mike decided to click THAT BIG Z move on Mimikyu, aaaaand the streaming cart didnt get the Mimikyu Z move (follow Mimikyu through the mart at night) and after the game where he even emerged victorious, they cancelled the stream of the match and traded everything back and Mike won off stream.

Mike went on to lose a narrow battle in the finals but with that Mike fulfills the NorCal tradition of getting 2nd place.
