- Cassandra Short, born of Jacob and Helen Short, has always attempted to help everybody she could. Even if doing so put her in danger as well, she vowed to never let somebody else be hurt if she could help them. She left her village at a younger age than her parents were comfortable with. The only reason they let her go at all was because they knew how important her dreams were to her, and they knew she would leave soon enough, whether they accepted it or not. She set out on her quest at age fifteen.
- At a young age, while riding through a large field near her village, she fell from her horse. The horse panicked and smashed her leg under one of it's hooves, causing it to break, and causing her bone to pierce through her skin. By the time her parents found her, her leg had become infected. If it hadn't been for a kindly old priest who'd been passing through that day, she would likely have lost use of her leg. Ever since that day, she has made it her goal to become a great healer, and help people like she had been helped.
- She has always had a decent amount of respect for large animals, mixed with a healthy amount of fear. She never completely recovered mentally from the near-tragic events of her childhood, and hasn't mounted a horse since. Also stemming from that event, if she gets targeted by an enemy riding a horse, her reaction time decreases due to her fear. She's also rather small, and tends to disappear while among her allies, making herself less of a target. She spent a decent amount of time studying ways to heal outside of magic, and knows enough about herbs and other natural medicines that she can apply them quickly and effectively.
