Band-Aids on Gangrene

Canadabro ranting about anti-american indoctrination and how healthcare in Canada is not inherently better than or even comparable to America's, because we are a federation of states which are supposed to be as autonomous as possible and therefore as self-reliant as possible, not encumbered by more and more federal government oversight.

(In fact, we fought a whole war about this very problem, but you're not allowed to veer from the topic of slavery --- actually you can't talk honestly about slavery either, so let's just lampshade that whole war, just like WWII and them gnatsees --- eheh lol excuse me.)

Social programs need to be productive, self-sustaining, and should not undercut private competition when unnecessary. Insurance companies are supposed to bid against each other for our business, just like any other industry. Social safety nets aren't supposed to take care of everyone; only the truly in-need. And the establishment is simultaneously making us poorer, while using increased social programs as a bargaining chip to keep them in power! You see the run-around there?!

What happened to Africa when we sent them billions of dollars in food aid? It destroyed local businesses and farmers, while bloating the coffers of every coke smuggling warlord with a legion of enforcers.

Food is important like healthcare, no? Shouldn't these same principles apply to healthcare?

If blue states do in fact contribute more to the federal budget than red states, as they claim, then why use democratic tyranny to force those red states to abide by national programs?

Canadabro makes the argument that the standard of free healthcare, and healthcare in mainly blue states, is on average of a much lower quality than regions without, or compared to private insurance coverage. I can't verify that myself, but the insanely long queues for medical treatment sound legit. And surely "free" (taxed, not free) healthcare has less coverage than almost any private insurance.

Look. I like that the government gave me free healthcare when I needed it. But they created a perfect storm that caused millions of otherwise perfectly healthy and able citizens to come running for their help to begin with.

Between gutting out our jobs and wealth to other nations, supplying and importing trillions of dollars of drugs every year, and warping us with decades of demoralization propaganda, yes they did all of this, they cultivated a generation of compulsive dependents with learned helplessness.

To what extent saying this makes me a hypocrite is irrelevant, though I admit it. I can admit that these programs "help" people, self included; but they are Band-Aids on a gangrene infection.

Temporary stopgaps that leave just enough room for a crowbar to wrench the door wide open to all sorts of shapeshifting blood-suckers.
