  1. Oh man, runners. I used to work for a company that made these, so be aware that I have some negative bias going into this.
  2.
  3. First of all, the basic, basic tenant of runners is that it's quick to load and quick to restart. These games have no meat whatsoever to them, so give your player any excuse, ANY excuse, to stop playing, they will and they'll never look back. As another way to look at it, every second they spend NOT playing is a second they have open to think to themselves "what the hell am I doing with my time." Case in point: a game like this should not have a loading screen between transitions. Make your main "menu" and game summary an overlay over the gameplay itself. Needing to hit "main menu" and then wait and then "new game" and then wait is a death sentence for a game like this. In a similar vein, when the player dies, they need to die RIGHT THEN, give an explosion or something, the long-ass animation of the bird going belly-up towards the bottom of the screen is another five seconds the player gets to remember they've been tricked into playing a runner.

  5. Your verbiage needs a bit of work, too. "New Game" implies starting a quest, beginning a save file that will be repeatedly referred to. Games like this don't have "new game"s they have "play".
  6.
  7. There is an incongruence between the flying and the hoops. The basic goal of the game is to make it as far as possible, and your hoops do nothing to improve the distance. All they do is introduce a meaningless stat at the end, an incomparable one, I might add. Who is the better player, the one who made it 1000 meters with no hoops, or the one that made it 500 with four hoops? You need to give the player a real reason to use them, either make the game speed up dramatically so each hoop = X number of "free" meters that you get shot forward for, or make them invuln powerups for a short period, or something similar.
  8.
  9. There are a few technical issues with the game that you appear to already be aware of. For the sake of completeness: the balloon texture was inconsistently loaded, and your "loading screen" consisted of what appeared to be a repeated texture of a portion of your main menu.
  10.
  11. Your controls are probably the biggest gripe I have about this game. To control the bird, my finger needs to be right on it. Guess what happens, as a right-handed man, when I need to put the bird on the far left of the screen? How much of a percentage of the screen do you think I can see with my hand in the way? If you answered "approximately 0%", you answered correctly. You have three options: make a virtual joystick in both lower corners so the player can SEE the obstacles he's trying to avoid; introduce tilt controls instead; or squash the foolish desire to make a runner in the first place. <_<
