The Heart Aspect and its God Tiers/Classpect Roles

Heart is one of the 12 Aspects of Homestuck. Its Opposite is the Aspect Mind. When I think of Heart, I think of the Inner Soul that exists within every person that makes them who they are. Your Heart is what is “You”, what makes you Unique and Separate, standing out from the Crowd. It’s the Instinctual Impulse to feel Emotional about something, no matter what else happens. Heart is Irrational, since it’s driven by pure Feeling. Heart is Personal, It’s Empathetic and Passionate in all things. It’s Showing who You are, embracing your Biases and being Unique. Heart might not always have a justification for what it feels strongly about, but the strength of their Emotion means they are not easily wavered from their point of view. Heart will never give equal weight to every possible choice or possibility, because they give special favor to any single outcome they consider morally the ‘right’ thing to do. Heart has a strong sense of self and will always know itself. It has a strong moral compass to boot, never being lost or confused about what’s right or wrong.

Mage of Heart: One who Understands with Heart or Understands Heart

Mages will uniquely experience their Aspect, both good and bad. As a result, they gain a unique understanding of what their Aspect is or does. Their challenge is to become open to new insight or different perspectives than their own.

A Mage of Heart would experience theirs and others emotions, instincts, passions and due to their own empathetic nature. Too easily they are drawn into situations where everything quickly becomes personal to them. Their own emotions making them vulnerable to other’s manipulations. They would feel deeply and strongly and they would understand themselves and others true souls fully and completely. Because of this they have near perfect empathy for nearly everything and anyone, almost as if they’ve actually experienced everything as the other has. They can also suffer from other people’s Hearts.

Their strong tendencies to empathize with others through their understanding of other people’s emotions and desires can often lead to those other soul’s and personalities influencing their own, perhaps even subtly changing the Mage of Heart’s own Heart. They can also suffer from their own strong emotional outbursts, maybe not fully having a handle on their own emotions. They can suffer from their own Leap-Before-I-Look tendencies as well, preferring to just hop right into the thick of something without really thinking it through fully first. They are definitely easily drawn into highly emotionally charged situations like Mobs, Riots, Protests, or Cults and tend to suffer for those things as well.

But they come out of it more aware and knowledgeable about those things then they did before. They have a deep intuitive understanding of the Biases people have, including themselves. Either because their own Biases or another person’s Bias have caused problems for them in the past. I can definitely see them being the Revolutionary type, screaming into megaphones and leading protests drawing energy from the emotions of the crowd or mob. A different example of a Mage of Heart would possibly be Will Graham from Hannibal (Will in particular being heavily influenced by those he empathizes with more than anything.)

Thief of Heart: One who Steals with Heart or Steals Heart

Thieves have good intentions, and might be egocentric. They have natural confidence with their Aspect, but hide insecurities and hate being seen as weak. Their challenge is to learn to let others have their Aspect as well

Thieves of Heart have a natural knack for intuitively getting and empathizing with their own emotions and the emotions of others. They have a natural confidence in dealing with emotional and passionate people and in being truly unique to themselves. Most of all, they have true confidence in themselves, in their core, in who they are. Never faltering in their own selves. You would be very hard pressed to find a natural Thief of Heart with self-esteem issues is what I’m saying. They are dangerously overconfident in themselves and their passions if anything. A Thief of Heart might also bring others down to boost up their own self-esteem, stealing their hearts in a sense.

Speaking of stealing Hearts though, I can see them being overconfident in emotional matters as well, 'of course everybody loves me I’m great, so of course you’d wanna date me ;)’ or on another note 'lol of course I can make that guy hate me watch this’. They are expert emotional manipulators and blackmailers, stealing people’s confidence or making their passions fizzle out and in return getting a boost in their own confidence for it. When they feel the need to be, really they’d rarely need a confidence boost. Mostly their too busy flaunting themselves to be concerned much with others though. You’d have to really catch their attention somehow for them to focus on you, for better or worse. Either really dazzle them or seriously piss them off.

They also have a great knack for taking someone else’s passion or ideal and becoming so enthusiastic for it, they end up sort of taking over and becoming more passionate about it than the person who first thought it up. They can kinda stampede someone else down in their passionate rush to make that person’s passion happen. They can also be dramatic and overemotional beings, always feeling emotions in extremes. But something to be said about the Thief of Heart is that they are actually always very open and honest with how they feel and who they truly are and what they do and what kind of people they are. They might seem extreme at times, but they’re not lying to you. If they love you or hate you, you’ll know because they won’t shut up about it. I could see Mabel Pines from Gravity Falls as an okay example of a Thief of Heart.

Seer of Heart: One who Invites Understanding of Heart or one who Invites Understanding through Heart

Seers are shown knowledge of their Aspect through its symbolic manifestations, like visions, persons, or magical objects. Their challenge is to be able to translate their insight and knowledge into action and decision.

A Seer of Heart might struggle with the idea of being emotional and passionate for something, that sometimes you must open up and feel strongly and let your feelings be acknowledged in order for them to make a difference. They might struggle with the thought of being decisively behind something that they think is truly important. They have strong feelings and opinions for lots of things, but just struggle with how they should apply them to situations. They can see the strength of other people’s Hearts and can see what they care deeply for. So they might have some indecision about what they want to really care about because they can see other people care about vastly different things and all have vastly different interests.

When you can see and understand everyone’s own personal brand of morality, it can become difficult to sort of 'pick a side’ with your own morals in a sense. Sort of like, but if that person is right, and this person is right, but also this other person is right, which is the right one?! It goes back to the Heart players need and instinct to pick one thing and run with it. They are very good at empathy though, being able to literally see into a person’s Heart and understand their Souls deeply and intimately. Maybe they find that because of that, they feel strongly for more than one person, having many people they love or care for deeply. So they can run into a difficult choice of Heart through that. I can totally see them being “Love at first sight” kind of people.

They look at you and just know you and fall in love. A Seer of Heart owning literal rose-tinted glasses or Heart shaped glasses might be a funny sort of pun, literally seeing Hearts everywhere lol They know what they and others feel passionate about, what they both love or hate, what their true selves are like. They just struggle deciding what they should do about all that, what choice to make, what side to pick etc that kind of thing. Or if they even end up picking just one side. Maybe a particular Seer of Heart finds themselves to be poly amorous at the end of the day.

Knight of Heart: One who Exploits with Heart or Exploits Heart

Knights hide a fear of a perceived fundamental failure with their Aspect behind a shield of confidence and obsessive effort. Their challenge is to learn to take it down a notch and to understand that they are skilled enough

A Knight of Heart would be truly skilled at using their own impulses and instincts to have action and to do what they want. They are very skilled at using their own caring, compassionate and empathetic nature to their own advantage as well, honing their instincts to act on what they feel is the right thing to do. They don’t hesitate to care and show mercy to those they think deserve it, but they do worry if they might have shown not enough mercy to those they wonder if they really deserved it or not. A Knight of Heart also tries to hide their own soul, inner desires or passions because they think maybe they aren’t moral enough, or they aren’t a good enough person.

They think themselves maybe not truly caring or compassionate when they really are. They skilled at using their own openness and honesty with their desires and instincts to act and go after what they want, and they also think they maybe aren’t being honest enough, or clear enough with what they want or need at times. There is also a funny coincidence for John Watson personally, exploiting hats for his own advantage, making himself and Sherlock wear them in order to hide themselves a bit from the press. They might exploit the desires and emotions of others to their own advantage, or even exploit the mercy and caring of other people.

They are infinitely caring, emotional and empathetic to others, even if they themselves don’t believe it or see it. Their own instincts and impulses will never let them down or lead them astray, even if they themselves think they might. They feel like maybe there isn’t enough passion or desire for things in their life, that they don’t really want anything or feel passionate about things, but really they are very passionate about some things or people, even if at first they don’t see it. A Knight of Heart like John Watson really embodies the quote “Demons run when a good man goes to war.” I always really liked that quote for him, and really it fits Knights of Heart in general.

Page of Heart: One who Invites Exploitation of Heart or one who Invites Exploitation through Heart

Pages start with a deficit in their Aspect that they confidently overcome through obvious overcompensation. Their challenge is to keep at it, even if they fail and the journey is slow, for they become the strongest players.

Pages of Heart start out with a deficit in Heart and try to overcompensate for it in their attempts to overcome it. So they try to act irrational and impulsive and going by their instincts, but they would either be way off on their instincts of they would follow the wrong impulses, or interpret them wrong. They would try to act caring and empathetic towards other people but would come across as overemotional or way too concerned making them look insincere. They want try to be seen as open and honest, so they are honest and open about everything about themselves to the point where it just becomes too much unwanted information.

In their attempts to be passionate about something, they would go completely overboard and most likely would just act super obsessed with the object of their affections instead of just passionate and desiring. Speaking of affection, they would be way over affectionate with everyone and anyone, trying to give the image of themselves a caring compassionate person but would end up going too far too fast into personal boundaries. They can be very over dramatic in their emotional displays, blowing up every little thing completely out of proportion and giving disproportionate emotional responses to almost everything. They are driven by strong desires, wants and needs to the point of obsessions and they can be coddling, overprotective and suffocating in their attempts to be kind and caring towards others.

They can be easily exploited through all of this by other people who either take advantage of the Page’s emotions and empathy, or take advantage of the Page’s obsessions and desires, using it against them. They try too hard to share every single aspect of themselves with others who would either consider them not close enough for that kind of thing, or just too much information. When they rise up to their challenge, they start learning to be more balanced and sincere with their emotions, their affections, and with themselves. They learn how to be passionate, sincere and truly honest with themselves and others.
