He's from a world where humanity had evolved and brought technology to such a level that bionics and cybernetics became indistinguishable from biology, fantasy races were brought to life through the power of cosmetic and genetic engineering and feats that were once considered magic were brought to life through the power of nanobots and mental and physical enhancements, immortality was achieved through offloading your body into a powerful metallic frame. This world was far from peace however, it knew constant war and many people lived in fear underneath powerful corporations and fascist countries, one day however this all changed, a great cataclysm hit which not only wiped out civilization but wiped the memories of the world before from all who lived as well outside of the few lucky enough to have offloaded their entire beings into metallic shells. The world degenerated into something resembling a fantasy setting where magic and spells are the norm, artifacts and weapons once considered commonplace in the old world became legendary magical artifacts in the hands of heroes, those that were in metallic shells found themselves in the roles of liches with control over the "undead" robotic drones created en masse in factories these "Liches" controlled. Abilities and Powers once known to be technological in nature were now considered magic to the masses. Beings that were created to watch over the internet were now worshipped as gods like "Nyarla" The Singing Cat Goddess from Japan or "Libertius" The Patriotic God of Liberty from America and sworn enemy of communism.
