Pokémon Black any% FAQ

Why do you not keep resetting?
I am using RNG manipulation by starting the game at a specific time (and holding certain buttons down) to get a seed which will mean I can get a good Tepig and the encounters I want at the start of the game. Due to a random value called timer0 determining the seed as well as the time, sometimes I will not get the correct seed, but usually I will because this isn't nearly as bad as it is in White 2. I will know if I got the correct seed if the clock hand when creating save data begins facing to the bottom right. The Tepig has an Naughty nauture with IVs of 30/31/31/30/31/31.

Why don't you RNG manipulate past route 1?
There are two phone calls where the RNG is advancing every frame, making it not possible to manipulate past that point.

Why do you pick the girl?
She looks better.

Why do you name yourself/Tepig a one character name?
Having a 1 character name saves time and since 9 is right next to the confirm button it's the easiest to select. It's faster to rename the rival as well because the intro sequence starts creating save data at the start, and so always takes a minimum amount of time.

Why do you choose Tepig?
He's the fastest Pokémon to beat the game with.

Why don't you use Excadrill like in White 2?
There's not a good place to catch him (he's really low level in Wellspring cave and so doesn't have Dig or Metal claw), there's no Iron Head move tutor and Emboar struggles less in this game than in White 2.

Are there any glitches in the run?
Yes there is one in Brycen's gym where I go through a rock to skip a trainer.

Why do you run Black instead of White?
Reshiram kills Zekrom faster on the final N fight.

Are you playing on console or emulator?
I am playing on a DS with a capture board installed.
