January's story thing

My name was Jaymes Hallson.

I was fifteen, and stupid. I didn't even know where I was supposed to be living. Some cheap knock-off of New York City made by someone who had never been there before. Someone with a close to unhealthy obsession with Spider-man. There were lots of tall buildings and streets, and most of them were pretty busy.

The earliest I could remember was going to high school with friends, a group of five others. There was me, Leah (not the one you know and love of course, but someone who she named after herself because she was lazy), Stephanie (who started out as a Mary Sue self-insert character for the real Leah but grew in to something else), Aaron (a total douche, but we were horrible people together so it was okay), a girl who's name I can't remember, and Michael. He wasn't very important back then, but he was later.

Anyway. That was my posse. But even that is fuzzy. There's not much that I remember before I swooped out of the sky to save Stephanie from a botched robbery. Me in my STUPID Power Ranger clothes... (Power Ranger clothes: Clothes themed in your color. Like, how the Yellow Ranger wore a shit-ton of yellow and all. My color was blue.)

I can't remember if I wore a mask or just somehow looked different through magic? Who knows. But I wore those ridiculous pants, those raver pants, gloves that I'm fairly sure were just gardening gloves, and some stupid blue shirt that was like a tank top turtle neck. Oh and I had wings. Angel wings I guess you'd call them. They were almost white, but just blue enough to look blue. I had them (and the Power Ranger clothes) because I had super powers and could transform to wear those clothes... I think. I mean, this was all ten or so years ago so excuse the hesitation to name details. But yeah, super powers to turn in to that persona, with the wings and stuff. I had power over the element of water.

That's where the other five come in. In that little posse, I was the first to get powers. I can't remember the order, but I remember who was who. Aaron had power over fire, that one girl over air, Michael over earth, Leah over light, and Stephanie over dark. Everyone else also had Power Ranger clothes so at least I wasn't alone in that.

It was only after we all got these powers, complete with color coordinating fancypants wings, that we started hanging out more.

Oh god I just remembered. At some point before this, I may have been in a story where we were captured in some... sort of giant laboratory and some how genetically reengineered to be able to control elements or some shit? But that never really went anywhere and I think that was scrapped in favor of magic. Anyway.

After we got our powers, we started hanging out, and learned that everyone could play some sort of instrument. If not WELL at least well enough to make music not sound like complete and utter shit. Leah's parents (again, story Leah not real Leah) were super loaded, so we were able to get all sorts of new gear, it was pretty epic. So with our fancy new instruments we started a band.

That band, in all it's glory, was Half Dime Nation.
