- Ocarina of Time is a very old game and lots of the dungeons were badly designed
- so that even with intended mechanics (Rolling, jumps etc.. you can skip most of the dungeon (Water temple, Deku tree)).
- This category tries to beat the dungeons the intended way and doing the dungeons in the intended order.
- In general, if a mechanic allows a puzzle to be skipped, or partly skipped, then that mechanic is banned in every scenario that is similar to the scenario of the puzzle it skipped. There are a few exceptions to this rule.
- Example: Before entering Hyrule castle, there is a puzzle where you have to push down some blocks in order to be able to jump to the crawlspace.
- In glitchless, you only need to push one of the blocks and then you can jump to the crawlspace with the help of a jumpslash.
- The intended way is to push two blocks, (one that is pushed down and then the second one on top of the first one), then you can reach without a jumpslash.
- In this case, it's actually impossible to make the jump with only one pushed block, so this exploit of jumpslashing to jump further is therefore banned whenever a normal jump doesn't make it far enough.
- Main goal:
- Don't skip keys
- Don't skip puzzles
- Follow the story:
- Do dungeons in the right order (Forest -> Fire -> IC -> Water -> Botw -> Shadow -> Spirit)
- Get the songs in the right order (Minuet -> Bolero -> Serenade -> Nocturne -> Requiem) Prelude can be got after Minuet
- Basically the dungeons and some stuff like gerudo card has to be got in the right order so that no Navi text is skipped.
- Example: If you do Fire temple before Forest temple, then the text of Navi telling you that something is wrong with the clouds over death mountain is skipped.
- Or if you get the Gerudo card before beating shadow, you'll never get the text of Navi telling you to go to the desert.
- Banned tricks:
- -Every non-intended mechanic is banned (everything that Glitchless bans)
- -Precise jumps (jumps that require a certain angle or speed before the jump)
- -Precise hookshotting (both distance and angle)
- -Barely reachable din's fire
- -Using broken deku sticks
- -Opening underwater chests
- -Swimming with iron boots
- -Climbing ledges that make Link pop up and then do a js to save time
- -Owl skips
- -Damage buffering
- -Throwing boomerang and use the property of going through objects on its way back to collect items.
- -Pressing a cutscene item button mid air such as ocarina, FW, bottled item to stop a timer or to get rid of text on the screen
- -Rolling from blue switches to skip placing a box.
- -Going through a solid object on the side there is no collision detection.
- -Backflipping onto armos statues
- -Luring enemies into objects that causes them to get stuck (Gerudo guards)
- -Power crouch stabs that store another weapon's damage (Deku stick, Megaton hammer)
- -Power crouch stabs that store more damage than a regular slash/swing of that weapon.
- -Crouch stabs to crouch yourself in order to avoid getting hit (Iron knuckles specifically)
- -Jumpslash mid air to cross gaps that you cannot cross with a normal jump (even at worst roll speed that makes link full jump)
- -Damage boosts to cross gaps that you cannot cross with a normal jump (even at worst roll speed that makes link full jump)
- -Jumpslash recoil off walls that causes antigrav to happen
- -Curving your jumps to make Link grab ledges that he can't grab while standing.
- -Abusing Ice physics to make Link grab ledges that he can't grab while standing.
- -Gainers (targetting a wall while doing an untargetted backflip/sidehop)
- -Using damage invincibility to bypass a damage source that is blocking your way.
- -Skipping navi text triggers by jumping over, pulling out a weapon or opening a door are banned.
- -Voiding out when a cutscene starts to skip the cutscene
- -Voiding out to respawn at an earlier point to avoid backtracking
- -Entering another loading zone/room to skip a cutscene
- -Dying to respawn at an earlier point to save time (Death warps)
- -Hookshotting ladders at the top to skip climbing the ladder at all.
- -Skip using Lens of truth to cross the desert, on truth spinner or the moving platform.
- -Hitting switches on ceilings with bombs
- -Not finishing block pushing puzzles that ends with a sound indicating puzzle completion. (Eg. Water temple 2nd key after longshot)
- Dungeon specific tricks:
- Deku tree:
- -Getting fire from torches that are not on the ground
- Dodongo's Cavern:
- -Use anything but the lonely bomb flower to bomb the stairs
- -Backflipping or sidehopping onto armos statue to skip climbing the ladder in the keese room
- Jabu:
- -Skipping the map chest appearing cutscene
- -Throwing the boomerang from the bottom to hit the switch before barinade
- Forest Temple:
- -Backflipping onto the falling ceiling in forest
- -Use arrows/hookshot and then slash Phantom ganon while he is vulnerable
- Fire Temple:
- -Using FW while bombing a bombable floor to fall down during cutscene
- -Rolling past the fire wall in the fire maze room
- -Jumping down all the way to the Song of time block to skip the part with the blue switch.
- -Placing bombs on lava pits to damage Volvagia
- Ice Cavern:
- -Jumpslashing through red ice to get a silver rupee
- Water temple:
- -Jumping to the third level water raiser in water
- Bottom of the well:
- -Jumpslashing deadhand while he tries to go into the ground
- Shadow Temple:
- -Backflipping or using the trap onto the falling spikes in shadow
- -Using FW to skip killing the 4 keese in the pot room where you get a small key.
- -Unloading the 2nd stalfos or standing on the top of the boat to make stalfos fall on the boat in shadow.
- Ganon's Castle:
- -Using a torch in forest or spirit trial to hit a torch/burn the web with normal arrows
- -Rolling between Ganon's legs on 2nd phase (Ganon is supposed to be too fast on the 2nd phase for this to work)
- Allowed tricks:
- +Backwalking
- Allowed because you are allowed to know beforehand where you want to go, so you don't have to look at where you go.
- +Taking a route where you damage yourself, such as lava in fire temple to sav time
- +Shield dropping or shield turning
- Pressing shield button happens too easily
- +Quickdrawing items to make link have weapon in hand
- Very minor thing that happens too easily to be banned
- +Roll invincibility (Rolling through traps, avoid getting damaged from ganon etc.)
- Allowed because rolling is a natural way to move in this game. We roll away from enemies when they try to hit us etc.
- +Skip using Lens of truth for invisible walls, hookshot targets, enemies, fake walls etc.
- Allowed because you are allowed to know beforehand where all the invisible stuff are located.
- +Skipping navi texts that you can skip by not walking into the trigger
- Allowed because navi text triggers like the one after longshot or rusty switch can be missed easily.
- +Hookshotting ladders/walls that you can climb from the ground to skip climbing part of the ladder
- +Jumpslashing mid air to cross gaps where you can grab the ledge.
- This trick will skip the ledge climb animation and is allowed because it is so minor and could happen too easily because of muscle memory.
- +Skipping Zora tunic
- Zora tunic is not necessary for water temple completion, it does make it easier, but so does big goron sword.
- +Throwing bombs on enemies to wake them up or damage them, or to make bomb explode faster
- +Trapping enemies or bosses into corners to damage them constantly
- Allowed because it's just a smart strategy, if they are trapped in the corner and link slashes them into the corner then of course they will keep being the corner.
- +Using FW in dungeons to skip back tracking
- It's what it is intended for
- +Shooting arrows on bombs to make them explode faster
- +Using Din's fire to kill anubis
- While it's probably not the intended strategy in those rooms, they are vulerable to fire so it's allowed
- +Using din's fire to skip collecting silver rupees in child spirit.
- Allowed because you can light torches with din's fire.
- +Using deku nuts on barinade
- Jellyfishes die from deku nuts, that's intended
- +Stunlocking bosses to 1-cycle them
- +Not finishing block pushing puzzles that doesn't end with a sound indicating a completion. (Fire temple block puzzle)
- I have probably forgot a lot of tricks. Will update with the route sometime.
