- - Why would Blade put the woman to wake up in his damn WEAPON room, where she could VERY EASILY injure herself or steal his guns or whatnot? Why? What's the reason?
- - So people dress up with all this fancy 'rave gear' just to dance like idiots in the cruelty industry-plant (and openly push around human carcasses together with the animal ones).. only to ruin their clothes with the 'bloodbath' crap? What? Why? Wouldn't they rather be without make-up, without fancy gear, dresses or clothes, in either skimpy clothing, naked, half-naked or in some kind of 'rain coat' stuff?
- Who goes through all that trouble just to ruin it all?
- I mean, vampires behaving as if they're just 'normal ravers' makes no sense, because they shouldn't be so easily amused. Remember, these people consider regular people as 'cattle', so they feel they are superior to the 'cattle', so why behave like them in the first place?
- Even if they're not that much more sophisticated than the 'cattle', why would they mimic their behaviour and dance to THAT non-music noise, while dressing in fancy clothes that will be ruined? It makes no sense. Would women really bring their expensive jewelry, earrings, put on make-up and all, just for it all to be splattered in blood.. or wouldn't they rather leave them off so they won't get ruined or at least so they don't have to try to get blood out of them (= useless extra toil)?
- - Why is the doorman at the very entrance to the dance hall and NOT outside the building, like HE SHOULD BE, if anything made any sense? Why does he require Traci Lords' character to kiss the guy before he agrees to open the door? It's a very WTF-moment. Why does Traci's character YELL at the doorman? What's the argument about?
- - If the vampires have _THAT_MUCH_ blood to waste (the 'bloodbath' scene, where they don't even seem to drink it, just use it as a shower.. for .. reasons?) and all those human carcasses to splatter around without a care in the world, why would they all be so excited about ONE MORE human, whose blood would SURELY not be enough to fill a tiny cup for everyone?
- - Who called the cops? Were they making too much noise.. you know, for a RAVE party in a brutally murdered animal-carcass storage facility?
- - How do the cops know to come with firemen with extinguishers ready, so the chief can say 'put him out'? HOW DO THEY KNOW there will be someone on fire, to prepare like that?
- - Do cops often arrive at a scene to investigate with THAT many people?
- - How can the cops be there SO FAST? I have called ambulances that arrived much slower.
- - Why is someone that's in good enough health to scream and panic like that being driven in an ambulance? Those are supposed to be for emergencies only, not some healthy people with some minor trouble.
- - Why does Blade only save the black woman that was bitten, but not the white guy that was bitten? Couldn't be more politically-correct than that. Two were bitten EQUALLY, only one of them was rescued NON-EQUALLY. Equality should be paramount, but not if the superhero is black, I see.
- - Someone kidnaps a woman, then throws her off the window, she miraculously survives, he jumps after her without even needing any padding for landing, and the cops just wildly SHOOT AT BOTH OF THEM?! WHAT?! What kind of police training is THAT? Just shoot a kidnapper, so what if you hit the kidnap victim... just let the bullets fly wildly into the roof, who cares about possible ricochets that might kill innocent bystanders or workmen or whatnot that you don't know aren't in the immediate vicinity.
- WHAT?! KIND?! OF?! POLICE?! WORK?! IS?! THIS?!
- - Why is the sound design so weird? When someone walks up the stairs in the 'meeting room of the old vampires', first time it echoes like it's some hallway, and doesn't sound like stairs at all. Each step makes a differently-pitched sound as well, which it shouldn't - at least not THAT much. This sounds like someone walking with wooden shoes or high heels in a big hallway, not like someone just walking up a few steps of stairs in that meeting room. The sound should be more muffled and subtle, less loud and also more 'stairslike', less 'hallwaylike'. The sound designer seriously messed up here, and it's enough to take you out of the movie and kill your immersion.
- When you start paying attention to footstep sounds in this movie, you start noticing all kinds of incongruencies; the next scene where Blade walks in also makes way too sharp a sound, considering he's walking onto a CARPET. His last step is fully on the fluffy carpet, and still makes a sharp 'clonk'-sound. Who hired the sound designer here? Both should be fired.
- As another example is Blade's 'steppin on a plank that's on air'-sound when he walks OUT of that place after the 'very manly hug'. HOW could his boot even make THAT sound in any circumstances? This sounds like a very different type of shoe with a very lightweight foot on some tiny plank on some pier, maybe. How can the inside of the shop sound like that ANYwhere, especially with someone like Blade walking on it?
- Also, if Blade can be silent as a ninja, why doesn't he always use that ability but goes clonking around like a Dutch woodmaker that's proud to show off his wooden shoes he makes?
- - So blade brings WATCHES (??) to some shop to get serum. So many questions, but let's start with 'where does he get the watches if the bodies disintegrate so thoroughly, not even a thread of the victims' clothes remain. Wouldn't the watches be disintegrated as well? Why would vampires even wear watches, especially in a rave they know is going to have a 'bloodbath', so the watches would be ruined anyway.. as I mentioned earlier. This means, either Blade would have very bloody and hard-to-clean watches, or he can't have watches at all, because they're all disintegrated. I mean, if clothes, hair, etc. all disintegrate, why would the watches stay intact?
- - Why is the woman not monitored, but just left alone to roam free in Blade's secret weapons room, where she could cause so much havoc for herself as much as Blade's possessions? They both just TRUST this woman they have never met, that has been bitten by a vampire? Huh?! How? Why would Blade also leave his mom's ID card for her to see, as well as all his guns?
- - Wouldn't it make more sense to have some kind of communication left for the woman, so when she wakes up, she has some kind of information? Just a paper note taped on the wall or something? Nothing? WHY?
- - What kind of sense does the 'katana protection gadget' have anyway, why does it have that kind of a delay? So it has a MOTOR in it? Wouldn't this break very easily in action and imbalance the sword? The katana doesn't even have a proper curve, though.
- - To add, is it such a common occurrence that someone tries to steal his sword that he has to have such a ridiculous gadget installed?
- - "Buy yourself a gun" .. err, she was just freely exposed to Blade's GUN RACK, which proves this pair has PLENTY of guns. Couldn't they sell her one or something? It's like you are a baker with fully-equipped bakery and freezer full of baked goods, and ask someone you are trying to help to 'remember to buy some food'. Couldn't you offer them a cupcake or something, for crying out loud?
- Also, how can they know she wouldn't STEAL one of their guns? They were not guarding her at all, she easily could have.
- - What exactly happens when you 'turn into vampire'? Why did the mom became an a-hole, but the woman Blade is helping didn't? I mean, she was already bitten, does the psychological change require the physiological change, whatever that really is? Why would it be so bad to be a vampire, since Frost seems to enjoy it just fine? "Better than the alternative" - really? Why?
- To add to this point, there are 'familiars', trying to prove their loyalty so they could be turned to vampires. If it was so bad to be a vampire, why would these people exist? You can't have it both ways; being a vampire can't be a 'cool, desirable thing' and 'bad, horrible alternative to killing yourself' at the same time.
- - What is the older vampire's point, when he goes to confront Frost - what is he trying to do? He seems to switch from one point to another, then just does nothing at the end. If he's trying to get Frost to stop using the archives, he should just keep that point up and force him out, and if he can't do it, he should have brought reinforcements. His actions make no sense whatsoever. What's the point of telling Frost he wouldn't understand the ancient texts - what does he hope to accomplish by that, OR by losing his temper and screaming at him like an idiot?
- - Someone wildly and unnecessarily destroys your furniture and messes up your livingroom, and all you do about it say in half-bored tone of voice, "Is all that necessary?" with probably the worst line delivery since 'I'll be back' by Linda Hamilton.
- I would be telling him to stop - not asking questions, I would be explaining how he's destroying my hard-earned and purchased/inherited furniture, and also demanding to get 500 dollars for that table alone, and so on and so for, plus physically trying to get him to stop. I know Blade is a 'master of martial arts', so that woman probably couldn't do much physically, but she COULD get through to him to realize this HERO is trashing this woman's place and destroying HER PROPERTY unlawfully, so he's not much better than a common criminal at this point.
- Furthermore; this sassy, proud black woman that was so nasty to a white guy earlier, suddenly cares more about rescuing this other white guy from Blade's beating than rescuing her OWN, BELOVED FURNITURE from Blade's trashing. This is probably the MOST unrealistic scene in ANY movie ever. No woman would have THIS priority of protecting things in this situation.
- THAT MAN WANTED AND TRIED TO KILL HER! Her furniture didn't do anything bad to anyone. Plus, no offence, but women are naturally materialistic (the word 'matter' comes from 'mater', the root word for 'mother' as well), and would raise QUITE the hell if you start trashing their property in front of them. Just a father trying to limit his daughter's cell phone usage will usually basically summon a demon into her. Try taking a woman's cell phone away and see if she doesn't turn into something worse than a vampire trying to curse you into the swamp while beating you up.
- - Why would blade let go of the cop he's holding with his LEFT hand just because the woman slightly touches his RIGHT hand when he has that ridiculous gun drawn. First of all, you don't use a RANGED WEAPON with such close target. IS he a martial artist, or isn't he? WHY WOULD HE USE A GUN WHEN HE HAS HIS VICTIM IN A TIGHT GRIP, LITERALLY?!
- He should've pulled at least a knife or something, for crying out loud. But even then, WHY WOULD HE LET GO with his left hand just because a woman temporarily interrupts a movement he's doing with his right hand?! WHY? This is not some dude off the street, this is our martial arts-superskilled superhero half-vampire that's VERY STRONG and has lightning-fast reflexes! A doofy cop can just suddenly escape his grip just because a tiny interruption?!
- WHAT?!
- - Blade's speech makes no sense - 'you better learn to pull the trigger'? What? SO MUCH WRONG with this one.
- 1) She doesn't have a gun. What trigger is he talking about?
- 2) That situation didn't warrant the usage of a GUN anyway, so why 'trigger'?!
- 3) In no way was that situation such that he should have killed or even considered killing that cop. He should've handcuffed, sedated, taken him to their lair or WHATEVER, but the cop was not a threat, and close combat doesn't require a gun, what the F kind of trigger is he talking about?!
- 4) The woman wasn't saying anything about not pulling a trigger, she was just trying to influence Blade to make him reconsider his unreasonable (!) actions. No matter how much there's 'a real world' and how much she needs to learn to 'pull the trigger' (when did she ever even tell him she knows how to handle a gun?! WHy would Blade assume this much?!)..
- It just makes no sense to talk about pulling a trigger, ESPECIALLY since the whole thing had nothing to do with ANYTHING LIKE THAT, she wasn't arguing for or against pulling any triggers, she wasn't the one with the gun, and the whole thing was BLADE'S OWN FAULT ANYWAY, since he could just have HELD TIGHTER.
- It had nothing to do with any trigger-pulling or reluctance to do so (it's almost as if it's written for a completely different, perhaps deleted scene, where the woman is hesitant and doesn't end up pulling a trigger in a situation that really warrants it - as it is now, it makes NO SENSE), it only had to do with Blade's left hand LETTING GO when it should havE KEPT A TIGHT GRIP.
- Also, how can the cop escape SO QUICKLY, and why is Blade only thinking of shooting - he's a FASTER runner for sure, he is a martial artist ninja that can do all kinds of athletic moves (shown earlier in the movie in the rave scene) - where did ALL THAT SKILL, reflexes and martial arts-thinking go? WHY ONLY POINTING THE GUN WHILE LETTING THE COP RUN AWAY FREELY, when he could've RAN AFTER HIM and 99.99999% likely CAUGHT HIM EASILY?!
- Makes no FRRRFFGGHin sense!!
- To add, so Blade can jump almost like Trinity, from window to roof - but he can't jump after a slowly jogging cop, because.. reasons? WHAT?!
- To be fair, Trinity lost her jumping powers when it could really have helped her, too.
- - What's with the constantly moving shaky camera in every situation.. even when everything is still, the camera just can't stop the constant shaky zoomed-in motion. Makes me sick. Also, the car chase after the 'cop got away from Blade's grip'-scene is nauseous. Yes, this is the correct word to use, damnit. It's not enough that it's shaky, it has to also be sped-up - and why is there a JAGUAR roar when a vampire is eating someone's neck near the end of that car chase scene?
- What did I say about the weird sound design? WHO thought it's a cool idea to make vampires sound like pumas or jaguars? Holy cow is that stupid.
- - Why is the usual movie trope of 'throwing' instead of 'punching' so over-utilized here? I know it looks 'more massive' if you throw someone and they bump into something that then causes a chain reaction of pots and pans flying all over the place, but is it realistic or logical? It just looks so stupid, after you've seen it since the seventies. Just punch him, don't throw him to some weak furniture over and over again. Just punch or kick him normally, ok? You ARE a Martial Artist, aren't you, Blade?! I mean, these are not Judō throws, even.
- - Why do the secret kitchen elevator doors sound like the door sound like I have heard them in 20 video games before this movie was even made? Could they BE more stock?
- - Why is the woman so brutal with the ultraviolet lamp? Also, ultraviolet light wouldn't be that visible anyway. Why are they torturing this poor fat blob so much, when obviously their physical body being like that should be torture enough? We are ROOTING for people that just torture for no good reason?! This is a horrible scene to watch.
- Also, why are her reactions so robotic and nonhuman? Is this movie trying to show that 'women can be evil donkeys' or something? The way she reacts to everything is just too lackluster and 'meh', when she should AT LEAST be a little bit grossed out by the fat entity and the entity's pain, and all that melting and screaming. _I_ can't watch it without grimacing extensively, how the heck can she be CAUSING that and seeing the fat thing smoke and scream from pain and blood spillage and just remain completely reactionless?!
- Bad acting or what?
- "He moved" was not a cool line to say after all that. AND HE DID NOT MOVE, damnit, you cruel psycho!
- - To think about it, how can Blade be sure EVERY SINGLE VAMPIRE in that rave scene deserved to be murdered like that? What if they were born vampires, how is that their fault? Is being a vampire same as being 100% evil? Can't there be good people amidst them?
- What if you are born a vampire, but you want to be good. You try to be good and do good all your life, and just happen to go to some rave party. Then some Blade comes and murders you in the spot although you didn't even do anything threatening.
- What IS a vampire, then? How can biological body type dictate morality? These and many other questions are the kind this movie is afraid to touch, because it'd rather be "cool". Sigh.
- - Why does the 'martial arts girl' use only ONE kick so many times in a row, and thus create a plethora of opportunities for Blade to counter (though he doesn't use any of them) and intercept them. Did no one ever read ANYTHING Bruce Lee wrote about telegraphing and feinting? You rarely even see feinting in any hollyweird movie anyway. Really bad martial arts being peddled as good martial arts, because it 'looks cool'. Not.
- - So do people die or turn to vampires when a vampire bites them in the neck? I mean, why would a vampire ever TURN their food into one of them? When Frost says 'they are our food', he fails to realize that's exactly what HE was before he was turned. This means, he's nothing but 'turned food'. Can vampires even drink the blood of 'turned food', or is that spoiled? So why not just kill everyone you are eating, or.. a more cruel, but more effective idea, keep EVERYONE ALIVE and NEVER BITE ANYONE DIRECTLY, just to drain their blood?
- I mean, it's awful, but according to these rules, it's the only common-sensical idea, that none of the vampires have thought of for thousands of years for some reason. Sigh. So, WRITERS haven't..
- If they really think of them as cattle and food, why even let them progress as much as they have? I mean, why DON'T vampires rule the world? Why wouldn't they just keep them in 'human farms', letting them live but always coming to drain their blood - not enough to kill them, but enough to keep all vampires 'fat and giggly'.
- If they don't bite anyone, if they don't turn any food into vampires, then people like Frost can't even exist. Just have human farms for taking blood - the living people will regenerate that blood so you can just keep harvesting them periodically and thus have huge banks of blood.
- WHY DID NO ONE THINK OF THIS? Why do they keep biting and turning and killing people, when NONE of that is effective or necessary, and it's all, in fact, COUNTER-PRODUCTIVE?
- - Frost confronting Blade using the little girl as a hostage doesn't seem to make much sense. First he moves a physical body SIDEWAYS faster than a bullet can travel in a straight line - not only that, but the bullet has already been shot before he starts to move.
- Has anyone ever heard of 'whiplash' or 'brain damage'? He would suffer SO much from making his head move that fast that quickly, muscle injury, head injury, brain damage, whiplash, you name it. Not only that, but the physical laws like INERTIA would prevent that movement from even being possible, no matter how 'vampire' you are.
- Furthermore, WHY is Blade shown to be SO fast in the rave scene, even 50 vampires couldn't escape OR attack him successfully with guns, weapons, punches, kicks, etc. - and here, he's shown to be SO slow, he can't even shoot a vampire with a gun that shoots faster than the shotgun with the silver arrows or whatever. This is SO inconsistent, it boggles the mind.
- How can the 'turned' vampire run and dodge faster than BULLETS CAN FLY?!
- Why is Blade, this super accurate master martial artist ninja (as shown previously) suddenly UNABLE TO HIT A HUMAN-SIZED TARGET FROM A SHORT DISTANCE with his customized gun that he's extremely familiar with? HOW WOULD THIS EVEN BE POSSIBLE?
- Also, a girl CAN'T FLY FASTER THAN A BULLET.. geez. That girl would've not flown that far if she already hit something hard enough to bend and destroy it, plus, she would be severely injured at that point.
- Also also, where is this little girl's survival instinct? This tired movie trope is SO tired. Someone in danger is NEVER going to try to save themselves, run out of the way of danger, or anything. They will ALWAYS just sit there and do nothing.
- To add another cliché upon this pile of clichés; WHY ARE THE DRIVERS PSYCHOTIC?
- Wouldn't the bus driver HIT THE BREAKS or SLOW DOWN or SOMETHING? Honk the horn? No, every single car, bus, truck and train in movies is being driven by a psychopathic murderer that doesn't even think of slowing down when there are kids on the tracks or road. What.. the..F?
- The drivers and the physics in this movie are EXACTLY the same as in every other hollyweird movie. Sigh!
- - WHAT kind of convenient coincidence is it that the ONLY bitten individual Blade happens to rescue during his whole career, just _HAPPENS_ to be a BLOOD EXPERT?
- I mean, wrap your mind around THAT coincidence. That's like a homeless man rescuing a puppy from the traffic and it belongs to some billionaire that will give him 8 million dollar reward. Sorry, my scenario is much more likely to actually happen.
- - I probably shouldn't even mention the computer UIs of this movie, holy cow are they hollystupid. WHY is there a 'woosh'-type sound effect every time something computer-rendered moves on the computer screen when they are trying to decypher some ancient language, and why does it become this weird 3D-animation suddenly? What program is that, how is that supposed to work, and why are there INSTANT, AUTOMATIC, REALTIME SOUND EFFECT GENERATION in that program? How does that work, who programmed it like that, and.. aagh, mind gets blown if I try to even think about this particular stupidity some more.
- Isn't it convenient also, how Blade's computer does the same thing - a perfect wooshing sound effect, then perfectly timed text error that ends the animation so we don't have to worry about continuity, and at THAT very moment, they are attacked. Not 0.5 seconds earlier, not in the middle of a sentence or animation, but EXACTLY the moment the animation ends and the angle changes and now the computer only displays a text screen.
- How many lifetimes would you need to experience this kind of coincidence chain organically?
- - Why does Whistler look realistic, but Blade doesn't? What I mean is, look at their hairstyles. Blade has IMMACULATE hairstyle, not even a day old, it looks like. Perfectly stylished hair. A guy with this much psychological turmoil, this important and intense mission, this kind of work, etc. and YET, he has time to worry about his hair so much it's kept completely imacculate at all times?
- WHAT kind of sense does that make?
- - Let's talk about the plan as explained by Frost. The 'blood god' (so stupid) comes and turns everyone to vampires INSTANTLY. So now vampires rule the world. Err.. wouldn't they want their numbers to be smaller, so they have someone to control, while Frost and his gang remain elites, rulers of the world?
- Also, NOW THEY HAVE NO FOOD when everyone is a vampire, and thus, there is no 'cattle'? What?
- Did anyone think this through?
- - The motorcycle sounds make no sense. How many points do I have to make about the bad sound editing? I NEVER notice this kind of stuff usually, so it must be pretty darn blatant here.
- Blade's motorcycle doesn't sound like it 'echoes from many directions', as the visuals seem to imply. It sounds like five different vehicles, standing in place, constantly making the engines roar. It doesn't sound like it's moving at all, it doesn't sound like one motorbike motor or engine, it doesn't sound like it's approaching - it's SO DAMN STUPID it takes me out of the movie immediately. Just listen to it and hear for yourself.
- Then Blade just comes crashing through some glass wall or something. What? Shouldn't it sound very distant and differently pitched at first (do the sound people of this movie even know about the Doppler effect?), then get louder and more menacing as it approaches.
- Also, you CAN'T move very fast if you keep REVVING like that constantly, it sounds so stupid and would render the movement completely ineffective. You slow down when you rev, you don't speed up.
- Not that Blade's speed is very high to begin with, I guess glass walls break easily using lower speeds, too, so the joke must be on me.
- - Why does everyone telegraph everything so much? Why don't the henchmen ever SAY anything, they just 'look menacing' and then immediately attack. It .. looks.. so.. stupid!
- These 'fight scenes' are ridiculously awful, can't these people watch some Hong Kong movies at least, before trying to make their own fight scenes? I can't even call this martial arts, although I know Wesley Snipes actually knows some moves for real.
- - Why doesn't ANYONe use feinting at ANY point? Are people this stupid? I mean, are audiences so stupid they don't demand it, and are writers so stupid they don't think about it, are coreographers so stupid they don't tell actors about it... IS EVERYONE STUPID?!
- - Why does Blade's mom have to sleep in some 'futuristic coffin' instead of normal bed? Why would there need to be some kind of electronic mechanism to open and close that thing anyway?
- - So in the 'rave' scene, we see Blade destroy vampires with silver, they basically become dust in a couple of seconds. Why does he need the 'blue serum' to explode the vampires, when that option takes WAY longer than the silver, and is more gruesome and gory anyway? Why would he need something LESS potent, harder to use, that takes LONGER to kill a vampire? What kind of sense does this make? Silver is BETTER than this blue thing the woman concocted. I am very puzzled about this.
- - Why do we need the white-dressed woman to clap hands and say 'come on, let's go', when everyone - I mean, EVERYONE is already moving? Why? So we can see a woman boss men around?
- - If you look at the fight scenes from the henchman's perspective - in other words, look at what the nameless, faceless cannon fodder-type attackers are doing, their attacks couldn't be stupider or clumsier. They always attack ONE at a time, never more, and then they WAIT to be hit again in some pose.. it's pathetic. They definitely didn't consult
- Yuen Woo-Ping (袁和平) when doing these camera-shaky 'fights'. No wonder this lost to The Matrix in every level.
- Even Blade telegraphs so much, runs to a henchman SO VERY SLOWLY, just to jumpkick them, and the henchman does .. what? STANDS IN PLACE WAITING TO BE KICKED IN THE FACE.
- I mean, WHO DOES THAT?! Have him move a little bit, at least, but nope. Here I stand, trying to aim my face to hit Blade's boot sole as hard as I can without moving. SIGH!!
- - Why do the henchmen ALWAYS SCREAM the same, exact scream, and thus ruining the elemnt of surprise? Why scream at all? I can't watch these stupid, clumsy stunt actors that have never done a martial arts gig in their lives any longer, but this damn thing is two hours long, sighhhh.
- - Why does silver make the whole body disintegrate, but garlic makes.. THE HEAD EXPLODE?! WHAt the ..???
- - Why does Blade do cringy 'yes'-movements and dramatic poses and unnecessary twirling with gun and sword whenever he can? PLEASE watch Hong Kong-movies to see how to do even that kind of thing right. Here, it just looks out of place and cringy. I don't even use that particular word, as it's just stupid, but this movie warrants it.
- - Why couldn't you iceskate uphill? Granted, if the uphill is steep enough, it's probably impossible. However, a more gradual tilt/slant/slope is perfectly uphill-skateable.
- Besides, does 100% even surface even exist, on a molecular or atomic level? There's always going to be SOME slant, depending on how you figure it - the Earth is round, so there's even a curve, however tiny, to consider, when thinking about 'uphills'.
- Also, what kind of sense does it make in this movie? No one is skating, and even symbolically or philosophically thinking, WHAT was Frost doing that could be described as 'symbolically skating uphill'? Because his name is Frost, and Blade is what skaters use?
- I don't get it.
- This movie really doesn't make any sense.
