51. Set in 1918, Princess Diana grows up on the Amazon island of Themyscira. American pilot Steve Trevor crashes offshore of the island and is rescued by Diana. After he tells Diana about World War I, she leaves her home in order to end the war.
 52. Raised in a sheltered island and trained to become a warrior, Amazon-Princess Diana Prince discovers the end-less war going on in the outside world. She embarks on a journey to end the war of all wars - whilst discovering her true power as well.
 53. Those aren't sarcastic quote marks, either!

This movie basically serves as a prequel to BATMAN V. SUPERMAN in that it explains the strange WWI-era photograph Bruce Wayne found in the latter film. Which is a good thing. Because, as most of us fanboys over age thirty know, the comic book Wonder Woman started out as a super-heroine fighting against the Axis Powers of World War II!

But, as the late, great Peter O'Toole pointed out (in that 1980 cult classic THE STUNT MAN), World War I is one of the most romanticized conflicts in military history. If only because it demonstrated to those born and raised in the Victorian era that war is _not_ romantic! Especially for those caught in the crossfire (literally and otherwise). It was in WWI that tanks, war planes, and fully automatic machine guns were first invented. So, naturally, there would never again be anymore marching into battle with fifers and drummers leading the way.

Diana of Themiscyra (having been raised on a well-nicknamed Paradise Island) is the perfect personification of all that culture shock. And Gal Gadot, having been born and raised in often-war-torn Israel, is able to give us (the viewing audience) a very convincing simulation of that shock. Even with the slightly jaded Steve Trevor as her tour guide!

That brings us to Chris Pine.

The U.S. Army didn't officially enter WWI till 1916, at the earliest. But, quite a few individuals didn't want to wait that long. So, they either joined the famed Lafayette Escadrille via the French Foreign Legion. Or they joined the British army as horse-drawn ambulance drivers. As Pine's version of Trevor is working for British Military Intelligence, I venture to think he was recruited into the latter via their French counterparts (Le Deauxieme Bureau). If so, I have to commend him for whatever boning up he did on the historical background of WWI. Turkey was, indeed, a German ally during that war. That, in turn, makes Steve Trevor's presence in the Mediterranean even more plausible. As he would no doubt have been trying to get to the British naval base on Malta in that stolen monoplane!

I also have to give kudos to the characters of Samir, Charlie, and the Chief. Original characters they might be (with undertones of a politically incorrect joke about three guys walking into a bar). But, they still lend a very nice mixed bag of poignancy and comic relief to this film.

As for David Thewlis? Well, let's just say (for those who haven't see the movie, already) that Sir Patrick Morgan is _not_ Bruce Wayne's great-great-grandfather.
 54. Boy, that is worst crap I have seen so far.

What is next Wonderman with painted nails, gel in hair, rings in ears...cooking and taking care for children while modern women play football and fight in cage?

I can't wait for end of human kind - it is coming like lightning and most will be really surprised
 55. A genuinely surprising film that plays with genre and throws out the now very tired superhero movie formula. It’s an action film, a romantic comedy and a coming-of-age story and a period piece and a war movie all in one. Above all, it’s a hopeful story about humanity.

For detailed information about the amounts and types of (a) sex and nudity, (b) violence and gore, (c) profanity, (d) alcohol, drugs, and smoking, and (e) frightening and intense scenes in this movie, consult the IMDb Parents Guide for this movie. The Parents Guide for Wonder Woman can be found here. No, there is not. No. This film's story takes place 100 years before the events of Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice and seeing the previously released film does not give any major insight into the story or characters of Wonder Woman. However, this film does begin and end with a framing scene set in modern day, where Diana Prince, the secret identity of Wonder Woman, receives the original glass photo plate of the photograph she took during World War I, which leads into the flashback of the rest of the film. This ties into Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice from a scene where Bruce Wayne discovers a digital copy of the photo which lead to him learning that Diana Prince was Wonder Woman. It's possible to answer this question by comparing the pieces of evidence made available by the film. First, because Diana is the only child on the island, we can assume that Diana's and Themyscira's ages are one and the same. We have no way of knowing how old Diana is in this story, so it makes the most sense to tie her chronological age to Gal Gadot, who was 32 when this movie was released. Second, Greek Mythology's tradition dates back to the 9th century BC, although historians theorize that those written traditions are recording oral history that dates as far back as the 12th century BC. Therefore, by comparing those two time spans, we can postulate that for every year that passes on the island of Themyscira, about 100 years have passed in the world of Man. This estimate of time ratio ( or rather ageing ratio ) is supported by Diana seeming to be almost the same age in the present day, as she was during WW1. No, nothing that happens at the end of Wonder Woman indicates that World War II would no longer happen within the DC Extended Universe movies. This question comes up because Ares, the god of war, is killed by Wonder Woman at the end of the film which leads some viewers to think this means war will never break out among humans again, preventing World War II and any others. However, when Ares reveals his true identity to Wonder Woman he explains that he does not create the desire in humans to start war but that they already have it in them. Ares simply sees the wars that humans make on their own and pushes them along so that it feeds his power. So the death of Ares in this film does not mean that humans would no longer engage in war. A hundred years later, we see in Man of Steel, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad that the nations of the world still have militaries. Also, in a real life historical context, World War II began as a direct result of the sociopolitical climate in Germany after the First World War. Wonder Woman helps to end the First World War, but does not have any part on those larger historical factors which cause Hilter's later rise to power. a5c7b9f00b
