Kassiani underwent a seeking recently. It started off simple enough; a dark and misty forrest, as well as two of her closest companions, Rhys Harwin and Arthur Beaumont. Soon the challenges began, and they found themselves pursued by an unknown force. Split up by the darkness and the chaos, Kassiani found herself battling Dreamspeakers who sought to punish her for her crimes and her exile. She succeeded in these battles, but found herself disconnected from the other two; it was then that she heard them, simultaneously, call out for her aid. Rather than listening to her ethos and her heart and running to save Rhys first, she instead willed to listen to her mind and her tactical train of thought, going to help Arthur instead, him being the lesser combatant of the two. She successfully saved Arthur from death at the hands of the dreamspeakers, but only found Rhys to be gone and taken captive. Finding a note upon a tree, she realized the trap had been laid despite her caring to try to avoid it. Fueled now by anger and worry, they sprung the trap, which resulted in Kassiani being extorted into surrender in order to try to spare the lives of her friends - in vain. They were executed before her, which resulted into Kassiani temporarily giving into the Maleficia and the Taint that marrs her spirit. She killed everyone in the village, except for the Elder, pausing to question her antics; she knew what she was doing was wrong, despite her revelling in the joy and thrill of it. As she tried to fight away the malignant taint, she was unsuccessful; and she relived that moment that cast her out from her life; her body taken from her control as she killed the Elder; for whatever reason she might justify it, it was still murder. It was only then that Kassiani had the strength to shake off the chains that bound her to that manifestation's servitude; calling into question it's right to control her. After all, Kassiani was no longer the frightened little girl who was taking her first steps down the shamanic path, but rather, she had grown into a young woman who was to make decisions for herself. The time for excuses had come to an end; it was only her and this spiritual entity now. Though she knows that a part of her relishes in the presence of that taint, a greater part of her hates it; and she chose to cling to the aforementioned part of her soul. Now, realizing that this was a personified entity that could be challenged, Kassiani found confidence in that fact Though she could not change the actions of her past, she assured the manifestation that there would come a time when she would wrench the life from the darkness itself rather than those around her. In the words of Star-of-Eagles and Naioba, some wounds do indeed need to be cleansed with fire. Kassiani felt even more connected to her child-self, now more than ever, recalling the time when she assured her Howahkan that what made her worthy was the fact that she'd never give up or give in. Awakening from this tribulation left her feeling both energized and renewed, but also utterly drained and battered; it was a harrowing seeking that tested her greatly, and truthfully, whether or not she truly succeeded could only be told with time. All Kassiani could do now is make good on her word, and devise a way to kill the taint within her.
