Dandan, presumably, recovered his phone/camera at some point during/after all that

it had been knocked out of his hands when the s u c c occured and he was unsure if it got trapped in the shadow realm

Takara:
"I will return. You can join if you want..." He speaks slowly, with a tired voice. Disregarding his lack of sleep, he's been chased around all day by curious students and faculty. "As for what it is, I only have secondhand information. Igor told me that that world is a kind of alternate reality. A manifestation of someone's perception of the crimes inflicted on them in this world, or else ones they inflict on others."

Takara:
He shakes his head, "I think that's accurate... My partner knew a lot more about it, but..." He pauses, "I don't know where they are."

Kaori:
"Nyoh? That sounds uh...pretty weird. But I guess the whole thing is weird regardless of what it really is...and that thing that like...let me cast magic and stuff! That was wild!"

Danjuro:
"Crimes, huh...?"

Takara:
"Yeah...That was a prison - so maybe someone thinks they're falsely imprisoned here?"

Takara:
"That's my best guess. But I've been wrong before... Uh, almost every time..."

Kaori:
"So like, does that mean people are committing crimes in the scho-...wait, what if it's related?!"

Takara:
did you explain to him what was Going Down

Danjuro:
I'm fine with having done that off camera.
Kaori: (( Same, also I mentioned that people were blackmailing people. ))

Danjuro:
"What was that about your partner again? I think you started talking about them yesterday, but you were kind of out of it. Who else knows about this?"

Takara:
"Hmm...that's possible. But I don't know if that would make someone see the school as a prison..."

Danjuro:
"Man, be real. School as a prison ain't much of a stretch."

Takara:
"But, honestly, if I've learned anything about that place, it's that it's anything but consistent."

Kaori:
"I guess...but you said it could be the other way, huh?"

Kaori:
"Like, what if they're not a prisoner, but they're a warden or somethin'?"

Takara:
He nods, "Yeah, that could happen.There was one who...uh...Well, I know it's happened before... My partner would know more, but, I never got their number. Can't believe I forgot that..."

Danjuro:
"You got a name?"

Takara:
"Ah, yeah, their name's...uh.... I...did I not get their name... No, that can't be right... Ugh sorry. I'm still not in my right mind entirely. Give me a few days, maybe..."

Kaori:
"Unnnnnnnnnfortunately...we don't really have a few days."

Danjuro:
"I don't think we have a few days, Chief. We really aught to get moving on Kaori's thing... OH, and Safie has something she wanted us to look into, too. Crap, that keeps getting put on the backburner..."

Kaori:
"I know this secret world thing is real cool and all but I need to resolve stuff in the real world or..." She exhales heavily.

Takara:
"Sa...fie...?" It takes him a minute, and he looks super confused, "Oh...the newspaper girl...right."

Takara:
At THAT, he perks up, "About that. The two might be connected, actually. If someone's perception or personality is warped enough to create an alternate reality, there's a high chance that they're twisted in the real world, too."

Danjuro:
don't worry Takara I had to look it up on the doc too

Takara:
"If you show them evidence of their wrongdoings, which you collect from the other world, you can change their outlook on life here, too... But there are risks."

Takara:
"I mean, for starters, it might be entirely unconnected."

Kaori:
"So you're saying that whoever did it is connected to that other world...so are they like, in there or somethin' like you were?"

Danjuro:
"Well, hold up, there wasn't anyone in that other world, was there? Just a bunch of monsters, an owl, and that Igor guy you mentioned."

Takara:
"Oh, uh...actually, Igor's not there. He's in the Velvet Room... Uh, I'll explain that later..."

Takara:
"There's more to that world than you saw. I hadn't been in that one room the whole time. I just got trapped there trying to get out."

Takara:
"Actually, here." He takes out a small, rectangular envelope, pulling some photos out. In them, you can see the other world - it seems to split off further in, with hallways and more cells. There are also images of dog-like monsters.

Danjuro:
"Huh. Alright... "

Takara:
"I got these developed before I went home last night. I thought they may be useful."

Takara:
"Anyway...if the person responsible for this IS in that alternate reality, then we could discover the culprit if we go back in."

Danjuro:
"And if not, I've got another lead I gotta track tonight..."

Kaori:
"Hrmmm...so this is kinda like the picture I took of the locker room." She briefly looks through a couple of the pictures, "So I assume these are also parts of the school...but in that other world."

Takara:
"Sort of. It's how the person responsible for its manifestation perceives it. It's even possible for that to change, if their mindset changes."

Takara:
"It's a very temperamental place."

Kaori:
"Mmm...so then we have to figure out who's behind this other world thing...and hopefully that means we'll solve the problems going on in this world too!" Kaori hops up, ready to roll, "I'm not too sure what I can prove out here, but if we could get a lead on who it is there, we could figure out how to stop them!"

Kaori:
"Besides, like, you guys almost bit the big one in there. If I hadn't uhhh...did that magicky stuff that I did, who knows what would've happened."

Takara:
"You have my thanks for that. I've realized that it's too dangerous to go in alone, now... So, Kaori seems intent to help. Will you, Danjuro?"

Danjuro:
"Yeah..." Dan rubs his neck. "First thing when I get in there, I'm making that owl do a contract for me. Can't have you carrying us forever!"

Kaori:
"I mean, you better hope it's just that easy!"

Kaori:
"I really thought we were gonna die in there..."
Phatthrice:
A chirpy, female voice emanates from the window, "Oh, that won't be necessary." Looking over, you see a girl you'd not noticed before, sitting in the open windowsill, swinging her legs in rhythm.

Weird Girl:
Her form is incorporeal at first, but slowly becomes solid as you stare, "If you'd like, we could arrange that before you ever set foot back in that realm!"

Kaori:
"Nyuh? I've never seen that girl at school before.."

Danjuro:
Dandan grits his teeth. (Shit...! How long's she been sitting there?!)
Danjuro: (( I assume that's he partner tho ))
Kaori: (( It's the owl ))

Weird Girl:
She hops off the windowsill, "Well, of course not!"
Danjuro: (( yea but also I'm p sure it's his partner ))

Takara:
"Ah...Lethe. It's rare for you to materialize. Is something wrong?"

Weird Girl:
"Nothing serious! I told Igor and Agatha about what happened, and they recommended that I bring you to the Velvet Room. We can't have Hawk rushing into a fight without a Persona again!"

Weird Girl:
"Oh, only if they're okay with it."

Weird Girl:
"It's a bit unprecedented...but so is this whole situation."

Kaori:
"I'm kinda lost but uhhhhh...yeah, sure! If it helps us figure this whole thing out! I've got less than a week at this point so I'm desparate enough to believe in weird stuff!"

Lethe:
"Gotcha! Okay, then. Just follow us. The entrance is a bit north of the school."

Danjuro:
"Oh, I get it, you're the partner he kept talking about. . . yeah. Okay, sure, let's see this room."
Danjuro: (( mom is trying to text me about things sry for slowness ))

Takara:
"Huh? Oh...well, maybe, in a way. But Lethe comes from the Velvet Room, my partner was a regular person....at uh, at least, from what I can remember of them..."

Danjuro:
god dam there's a lot of shitters involved

Lethe:
"Sorry, but I'm only a guide! If I could fight, do you think I'd have let him suffer like that on his own?"

Lethe:
"Anyway! Come on! You are coming, right?"

Kaori:
Kaori nods eagerly, "Let's go!"

Danjuro:

Phatthrice:
Lethe and Takara lead you the the center of downtown, near Odori Park. There, you see a pair of strange, dark blue curtains, hanging in the air. Takara nods, and motions you to follow him as he parts them and slips through.
Kaori: (( new map or imagination ))
Danjuro: (( look away for 5 minutes and I have 6 texts to deal with ))

Danjuro:
Danjuro exchanges a look with Kaori before dipping inside
Phatthrice:
Inside is a place like you've never seen - a velvet-carpeted room, lined with similar blue curtains. The room is dimly lit by a glowing, red pulse, bathing the place in an ominous, bloodred light. Small tables with strange equipment litter the area, with one larger, mahogany desk in the center. One area of the room is further curtained off, completely cut off from even the dim light of the glow. Shallow, rectangular boxes of liquid sit on some of the tables, and you realize what Takara meant when he said he'd had his photos developed. You're in some kind of twisted darkroom.
Phatthrice:
And you aren't alone.

Danjuro:
"...shit, how long has this place been here?" Danjuro dips his head back outside quickly upon stepping in, shaking his head

Kaori:
"I dunno if 'here' is the proper way to put it..." Kaori shrugs as she looks around. "Like...it feels real weird in here...I dunno how to put it..."

Igor:
A man sits at the center desk, his eyes piercing nearly as far into your soul as his nose. He claps when you enter, speaking in a high-pitched voice, "Welcome to the Velvet Room! I have been expecting you."

Danjuro:
GOD that nose.

Igor:
"I am Igor...and this is Agatha, my assistant. We're pleased to make your acquaintance."

Danjuro:
I know it's canon but it's out of CONTROL

Agatha:
A girl steps out from the curtained off room. She spares you a nod and a small curtsy, then returns to scratching some notes onto a pad, "Salutations."

Kaori:
"Hwuh..? Nice to meet you both?" She gives a deep bow.

Danjuro:
"Yeah. Hey." Dan's starting to get pretty anxious about all of this.

Danjuro:
"So... yer all part of this shadow realm thing, huh? That's cool. Never got to talk to a demon before."

Igor:
"My dear friend told me all about you. You have come to join his contract? I'm delighted. He had yet to form any bonds...I was beginning to worry."

Kaori:
Kaori elbows him in the ribs, "Tch!"

Danjuro:
"Agh!"

Danjuro:
"Yeah, I think that's what's going on here? We're going back into that place, and... well, I wasn't much help last time, aha."

Igor:
"Ahaha...I am no demon, child. Now, had you come a few years ago, there may have been a different tale to tell."

Agatha:
Agatha crosses something off, "No relevance to the current situation. You will solidify your bonds with the freelancer."

Kaori:
"You mean the new kid?"

Takara:
Takara leans in and whispers, "That's what they call me."

Takara:
"I tried telling them my real name but they won't have it."

Kaori:
"Huh...I wonder why they don't call the new kid by his name?" she asks aside to Danjuro

Danjuro:
"Man, I don't know. Demons have weird rules I guess."

Igor:
"I'm afraid it isn't quite as simple as that, Agatha. You both possess the capability to manifest the aspect of one's soul, but the act itself must be done under duress. But we in the velvet room can actualize your connections, at least. Do you feel any bond with this boy?"

Kaori:
Kaori studies the new kid, "I mean, we just met yesterday, I 'unno."

Agatha:
look i dunno how far i can jam a quill down someone's throat but call me a demon one more time and we'll find out

Takara:
"Well, you did patch me up some. That has to count for something..."

Takara:
"I'm sorry, I'm not sure how this all works, I've..." He grips his head, "Argh...I've never formed any bonds or anything. I don't know what they mean by it."

Danjuro:
"I've been filling in for his ass the past few weeks, does that meet what you're looking for?"

Agatha:
Agatha glances up at you from her notes, "It may."

Kaori:
"I mean, well yeah, I wasn't gonna let you bleed all over the place or nothin'.."

Igor:
"Hmmm....Well, there is one way to test your resolve. It may be a little crude, but..." He nods to his assistant, "Agatha?"

Agatha:
She nods again, licking her quill, "Of course." She stabs through the book in her hands, sending its pages flying around the room, completely obscuring your vision with fluttering looseleaf. When it all falls to the ground, you find yourself completely disoriented, in another room altogether. It almost looks like..an arena.

Danjuro:
is Nexus banned

Agatha:

Danjuro:

Kaori:
"Whoa! Where are we now?!"

Agatha:
"Hmm...how should I say this..." She scans through a book, searching, "Ah. Yes."

Agatha:
She clears her throat, "You're in my world, now."

Danjuro:
"Ha! Awesome."

"If there is any bond between you, they will help you now. Otherwise, you will die. I do not know much about bonds, but that does not seem conducive to an enjoyable friendship."

Kaori:
"W-..hwah?! Hey, I didn't come here to die, new kid!"

Danjuro:
"Well hey, YOU'RE good, you just have to focus or say your transformation chant or whatever! I gotta... shit, I gotta figure this out...!"

Agatha:

"You'd better!" Takara takes out his camera and intentionalyl blinds himself!

Danjuro:
"Yeah, well, you DID it! Just do it again! This chick isn't messing around!"

Takara:
The light engulfs Takara, casting a giant shadow behind him, which he falls backward into, merging together with it!

Takara:
His shadow reforms on him, creating a set of glowing robes, and coalescing into a dark, starry book marked with a pentagram, "I never expected her to attack us...she's normally so quiet..."

Takara:

It's just assumed to happen before every battle like in the games

Kaori:
"Okay...okay just..." She holds up her phone and snaps a selfie.

Danjuro groans. "Friggen... alright, whatever." He gives a forced, cheesy smile, and stares dead-eyed into the camera, giving an unenthusiastic peace sign

Agatha:
However, it gets lost in the torrent of ripping pages, and fizzles out!

Takara:
so he's gonna bail and hide behind this pillar

Agatha:

"Gh...I-I swear, I was trying... I don't know why..."

Danjuro:
"Hard to make friends when you don't show up. Hard to show up when you're stuck in the Demon world."

Agatha:
Agatha nods regardless, "The purpose of this exercise was only to test this man's capabilities as a manifester. He confirmed this, and so the trial ends..."

Agatha:
The arena falls away, and you find yourself in total darkness. Something shifts to Kaori's left, and Agatha parts the curtains. You follow her as she exits through them, and discover that you were in the curtained-off area in the corner of the room...

Agatha:
You're now back in the dim glow of the Velvet Room.

Kaori:
"Well that sure was painful for a test of *his* abilities..." Kaori sighs, more than a hint of annoyance in her voice.

Igor:
"Excellent. I truly did believe in your capabilities, young man. I am glad to see my faith was not misplaced."

Agatha:
"Should you ever wish to try your might again, simply come to me. We of the Velvet Room can...handle ourselves capably."

Agatha:
"Though I was always lacking compared to my sister and Margaret..."

Agatha:
She looks somewhat sullen at those words, and closes herself off, thumbing through a grimoire again.

Danjuro:
"Sparring practice, got it. Maybe when we're not on the clock... thanks for helping to bring the guy out of me, but I think we aught to pay that other world a visit, now."

Takara:
"Right...According to Kaori, we have little time..." He glances at Agatha, "So we should, uh, get a move on."

Igor:
Igor furrows his brow, "Yes...how peculiar... Well! You may be excused whenever you would like. Lethe is waiting for you. I...believe your bonds may be strong enough now to overcome these trials you face... Perhaps..." He seems disturbed by something, but doesn't voice his concerns directly. "I can only wish you fortune."
Phatthrice:
Well, then, you exit the Velvet Room, now with Danjuro's abilities confirmed, and head back to school. But you notice Nari chatting with a member of the Council outside, so you'll need to sneak around the back...Takara explains that you need to be pretty close to the area you want to infiltrate, which in this case is the locker room. Luckily, there's a back entrance by the pool

"Last time we just uhhh... I guess..." She takes out her phone and lines up the three of them in the shot, "Took a picture, I guess..." She snaps the picture

Takara:
The same thing happens as before - the locker room distorts into a facsimile of a prison, and your photo turns out nearly identical to Takara's.

Takara:
As yo uconcentrate on the image, it overtakes your perception of reality, and you see the room as a prison more than a school... You nearly black out, and come back to your senses in the realm of shadows....

Kaori:
"Hey, it worked!"

Danjuro:
"Man, I hope no one's taking locker room selfies and getting caught up in this."

Kaori:
"The only one who'd be taking locker room selfies is Ayu-.." She holds her tongue before she gets too sassy. "We should find out who the culprit is so we can get out of here."

Takara:
"Er...well...it's possible, I gues... But most people don't have the capacity to enter this place. It should be fine...."

Takara:
