  1. I've given my issues to bukkit staff several times, and mostly I've been ignored, so I have taken to simply monkeying on IRC. I understand that many other people have had the same or similar issues, so a personal reply to everyone voicing their opinions may not be an option, however, a general announcement or at least some sort of recognition from the main bukkit team would go a long way.

  3. Firstly, the project is supposed to be open and community-based, but the only open source part of it is that the source is on github. Over the last several months, there has been more and more secrecy around the main team, and their interaction with the community is extremely lacking. Also, as I said above, many many people have voiced their concerns on this and they are all either simply ignored or lashed back at with snide comments.

  5. Secondly, the attitude of the team (I've been blaming Grum for this) towards advancements and changes to the project is just horrendous. This comes back to my point about it supposed to be community based and open - it just isn't. The direction is decided on purely by the bukkit team, and any suggestions, ideas or code that threatens their specific ideals are, often rudely, cast off. Server owners and developers alike have suggested and contributed so many ideas and pull requests, and so many of them are declined (apparently with good reasons attached to each, but that is a complete lie in many cases) for reasons that most of the active and participating community disagree with (Java 5 for example).

  7. And then there are the problems I have with bukkitdev... I'm not even going to bother with them since pretty much every plugin developer has a few dozen problems with it.

  10. Feel free to quote this whole message anywhere, or large sections (I trust you not to take anything out of context, but something could be misinterpreted).
