  1. I believe that there are many skills necessary for a college student. Of these skills, I believe that three of them are most important: time management, self-motivation, and writing assuredness. In this essay, I will discuss to what extent these skills are important in the lives of college students, as well as what I can do in my own life to prepare myself for college, and to attain these traits.

  3. Time management is one of the most important skills that a college student can have. Time management is the efficient usage of time to allow studies to be completed, while also fulfilling all of the necessary things to make your life livable. It applies to all college students, because without it, you would either have too much time on your hands, or you wouldn’t have enough time to complete anything.

  5. I can improve my time management skills in several ways. The first way is to actually meet deadlines. My main problem in high school is that I disregard deadlines, as I think I can get them done on the day the paper is due. I can also set aside time at home to do the work that I need to complete. This would teach me that there is time to work and time to play. I can also stop procrastinating. I think it would be hypocritical to say that procrastinators don’t get far in life, as I procrastinate with almost everything. It sounds depressing, but it’s true.

  7. The second necessary trait is self-motivation. Self-motivation is basically how you get yourself to not only get work done, but also how well you force yourself to do the work. It isn’t just getting yourself to do it. This is a problem for me because the results seem too long-term. Long-term results bore me, and I’d rather do things in the meantime to have fun.

  9. I can improve my self-motivational skill by doing a few things differently than I do now. I can start to look into the future at what things that I’m doing now will do for me. I can think about the positives of these things, and how great they will make my life. Just because I don’t want to do it doesn’t mean I shouldn’t, and thinking like this is what will make my self-motivational skills much better. Thinking about what I can do after it is finished is also good. This shows me that I can have fun when it’s done and not have to worry about the assignment anymore.

  11. Writing assuredness is a trait that I personally enjoy polishing. It is what you think of your own writings, and what you think other people think of your writings. It’s all about confidence, and getting the confidence to put down on paper what you want to say. I can improve this trait by trying my hardest on writing prompts. I should ask questions, and get help when I don’t think what I’m doing is right. Going the extra mile and finding out the answer to grammar problems is the only way to get better at writing.

  13. To conclude, I think that there are several techniques that one can obtain that will help them in daily college life. You must be able to efficiently manage your time so that you can have a fun day, as well as get all of your classwork done by the time it is due. You must be able to keep yourself doing all of this, while still keeping the want to do well at a maximum. Lastly, I believe that you must be confidence in your writing. This will assure that you do your absolute best in your essays. After all, who would want to do badly on a thirty page paper?
