- Since I'm more well versed on what end game looks like for this game, I'm going to make a small post about team building in this game. This will be very important.
- The most important fact I have learned, is that this game is not a team building game, but a roster building game. What I mean by this, is you cannot build 2 static neverchanging teams, and efficiently beat the end game content in this game with them. What you need to do instead, is to pick 2 DPS carries, and then build a roster of **at least** 6 different supports and enablers. You then should choose which supports and enablers to use with which DPS carry based on the content that you are running. This means per end game domain, and per abyss floor.
- So now to help you pick your 2 DPS carries, this should be your thought process:
- 1. Pick who you like, playstyle wise or looks wise.
- 2. Be sure to pick carries of different elements, or abyss will bite you in the ass.
- 3. Constellations are the biggest contributors to a character's damage, especially the talent level upgrade ones. This means that a 4* with constellations can most definitely outperform a 5* with 0 constellations. You can keep this in mind, but if you want to run your c0 diluc as main dps over your c6 xiangling, while the c6 xiangling might be able to dish out more dps, the diluc would still be great and more than fine.
- Now about elemental reactions.
- - An elemental reaction's damage tick is based off of a couple factors. First, the type of reaction. Electro-charged > overload > etc for example, superconductor being the weakest damage tick. Next, the damage is based off of the character that triggers it, meaning the last element in the combo. Example, you put pyro on something, then another char puts electro, the damage will be based on the character that applied electro. As to how much damage, reaction damage scales ONLY with character level and the EM (elemental mastery) stat, attack does not scale it. This is why it's important to keep your fischl at a high level, and to consider focusing on EM for some supports.
- - Never run superconductor by itself (electro+cryo), unless you are running a physical damage build carry, where your source of reaction is consistent. One example that comes to mind where this works is razor+qiqi. Something like chongyun+fischl is *extremely* weak.
- - Be careful of where you run Overload (pyro+electro), and with what. Overload knocks enemies away, making it very hard for melee users to hit them. However not everything can be knocked back, so keep in mind what you're fighting. Another point is, this is not much of a problem at all if you run a ranged overload comp, such as using Klee. This is why Klee is good.
- - In terms of consistency and damage, because if the issue described above, electro-charged(electro+hydro) is the strongest reaction. This makes Mona crazy strong, both as main DPS and as part of the supporting roster. Keep in mind however that you will still need to run overload no matter what for some content, for example floor 9 abyss, which brings me back to my point about the main DPS and the roster of supports/enablers.
- - Unless you are running a physical damage main DPS, or an unswappable main DPS (razor with qiqi), always run an anemo support in every comp. There are two reasons why. First, swirl is a reaction that works **with all elements**, and does damage, so it's free damage. Second, after AR30, you can start obtaining elemental artifact sets. The ameno elemental set reduces an element's resistance on a mob, upon swirling them. This is *huge*. The best candidates for these are obviously Venti and Sucrose, as they can swirl faster and more consistently. But MC still works.
- - Be mindful of what comp and when you slot Venti in. For some comps, an ameno doesn't work at all as explained above (razor), while for other comps/content, some characters can't reach the mobs that are launched in the air, if they're too small.
- Lastly, the weapon you choose is **extremely** important. This can get complicated as it relies on more game sense on characters, weapons, stats and how they play, so I won't go into detail on that right here right now, but I might later. One thing to keep in mind is that rarity is not always better. Often there's cases where 4* or even 3* are better, even at the same refinement levels, so don't waste your materials unknowingly. Feel free to DM me as well.
- To conglomerate all of this, below I've put a roster of characters, 2 main DPS and 6 supports, including weapons and artifacts. I'll leave you with that and thinking exercise: Which on the roster below are the main DPS and why?
