- Dearest of Cellmates,
- It’s been 7 long years in a slam on…. planet earth? Yeah, sounds about right. It has felt like proverbial prison for me for these last 7 years - leaving Detroit, moving to Los Angeles, waiting 3 years for my brand new studio to be built (which I never worked in for a single day,) moving out of Los Angeles, waiting 3 more years for another brand new studio to be built in Detroit… That is an extremely simplified version of just a piece of life for me this past septennium. So if you’ve asked “why haven’t we gotten new Celldweller music?” Or “why isn’t this dude posting on social media?” Or “is that rooster-looking guy even still alive?!?!” Well, now you have a little better idea of what the answer is. Truthfully I’ve been thinking about filming a longer form video series just outlining this painful journey for the 2 or 3 of you that want more deets, but that my dear Cellmates, will have to wait for another day. The reason for this delay is because I HAVE SO MUCH OTHER STUFF TO TELL YOU!!!
- For starters, how about a brand new, non-remixed, barely-rehashed, almost-in-your-ears Celldweller song?!?! Yeah, it’s real and I hope your bodies are ready. This is the very first brand new Celldweller track I’ve completed in the new studio (studio name and reveal coming soonish.) You guys have been so cool and I wanted to give you early access to the first real photo from a small part of the new spaceship. (Psst! LOOK UP 👆) “Fakebreaker” is out everywhere Wednesday, October 29th in the year of our Lord 2025, and I was privileged to collaborate with both REEBZ and SWARM to bring this monster to life. But I’m not just talking about a song - I’m talking about a live-action music video (and no, sorry - we didn’t use AI to spit out a generically cool looking music vid. Maybe next time 😂). In the video REEBZ & I are battling bosses, kickin’ asses and taking all sorts of names. We truly hope you guys dig it. Wait… a new song, a new music video - is that it?!??! Nah, that would be too easy. “Fakebreaker” is the first song from my upcoming God Mode EP, which will be a video game themed collection of sonic power-ups. I’m already working on the next song “Respawn” with more to come.
- You: “The world is insane - I could really use some God Mode right about now.”
- Me: “Message received. On it!”
- While I’m talking Celldweller, I have had a concept I’ve wanted to work on for almost a decade. My Offworld album came out in 2017 and before it was even done I already knew that somehow, someday I was going to make Christmas songs in the same style. Well good news for those of you into that album - I have 2 songs done and they will be in your ears before you have the chance to say “I hope Santa doesn’t bring me coal this yea….DAMMMIT!!!! WHY SANTA, WHYYYYY?!?!?” (But seriously, I know you’ve been good boys and girls - there’s no chance Santa’s going to bring you coa… DAMMMIT!!!!!)
- Video content? Oh right, I forgot people like me watch YouTube all day instead of actually getting work done. That being said, I just wrapped an interview for a mini-doc that Bit Bot is putting together as we speak for a very top-secret video game we are developing. While I was at it, James Rhodes and Kurtis Redden (the top-dogs at FiXT) fired a bunch of questions you guys have been asking and I answered ‘em, “Ask Klayton” style for those who remember that web series. Keep an eye out as these will be rolling out to your social feed in the near future.
- Anyone familiar with these people? —> Kyle Reese? Corporal Dwayne Hicks? Johnny Ringo? Well I hope so because these Terminator, Aliens, Tombstone characters were all played by one dude - Michael Biehn. My business partner Josh Viola and I started a new company called Bit Bot and we have been invited to fly out to Los Angeles to be on his “Just Foolin About” podcast. The Bit Bot and FiXT team will post everywhere when the episode drops. Michael is a super cool dude and we’re looking forward to chatting about what Bit Bot is and some of the pretty awesome things we’ve worked on and are currently working on (this definitely includes new music from me. Like, a LOT of music. :)
- Scandroid. You might have heard of this guy (Ironically he also looks like a rooster, but just a much more futuristic looking one.) I, uh…. I mean “Red” has dozens of demos already fleshed out towards a new album. In fact there are several that are already done and just waiting for an album announcement to start dropping. I will be working on and finalizing the God Mode EP first then onto the new Scandroid album. Spoiler Alert - the new album is called Lost Horizon and will quite possibly be the largest world-building undertaking I’ve ever… ummm, undertook? I won’t spoil it here but there’s some pretty big announcements coming after God Mode is wrapped.
- Circle of Dust. Now this dude REALLY looks like a rooster but he’s really industrial and kinda cyborg-ish. Some of you may have noticed that I dropped 2 brand new Circle of Dust songs “Invisible World” and “Digital Messiah” over the last 2 months. These are out now to listen to wherever you stream music. The truth is I wrote these riffs between 2012-2018 and the demos have been waiting for me to finally add to the Machines of Our Disgrace album. The good news is they’ve been added to the Deluxe release of the album and even better news for you physical-collector types is that it’s releasing on Vinyl AND available to pre-order right now. Time to “Re_Engage”!!!
- I think I want to nonchalantly elude to a certain album I released just about 10 years ago. You know what’s fun when something turns 10? Doing something special to celebrate the anniversary! I hope some of you are excited about doing something fun to celebrate the anniversary of this super mysterious-nobody-could-ever-figure-out-what-album-I-released-10-years-ago-because-the-internet-has-no-way-to-know-that-kind-of-information album because it’s going to be…. fun.
- While you’re waiting for all of this stuff to transpire right before your very eyes, you should totally check out some tunes from the amazing artists at my label FiXT. There are some really big things happening over here - we’ve tightened our roster way up and some of the biggest things we’ve ever had happen as a label are unfolding before us. Check out Daedric, ENMY, The Browning, THE DEFECT. If you haven’t heard of these incredibly talented artists, give ‘em a spin. There’s a reason we wanted them to be part of the FiXT family, and they, alongside me are the sound of FiXT.
- It’s hard to believe I’ve blabbed on this long. Actually you’re right - that’s not too hard to believe at all. Us New York Italians know how to talk, fuggetabowdit. I have a lot more to say but I think maybe I’ll start dropping things like this more regularly for the few of you that haven’t fallen asleep or unsubscribed this far into the novel I just wrote. Thank you for making it this far :)
- Do your best to stay sane in a crazy world - I’m really looking forward to bringing more sights and sounds to you to help you cope, excel, and maybe go Offworld for a little while.
- In all sincerity,
- Klayton
