1.
Both Safeguard and Tickle are great support moves. However, if using Tickle, be sure to carry a Pursuit user within your team, such as Tyranitar, Scizor, or Metagross, as after a few Tickles the aforementioned users can OHKO the foe as it attempts to switch out. For example, after 3 Tickles, 56 Attack Choice Band Scizor has 74.36% chance to OHKO Standard Chansey as she switches out, and after 4 Tickles it's a OHKO. However, if the same Scizor has 252 EVs invested in Attack, it will OHKO Chansey 100% of the time after Stealth Rock and as she attempts to switch out. 64 Attack EVs Choice Band Tyranitar falls in the same boat as the 252 Attack Choice Band Scizor, only that it needs Wobbuffet to Tickle Chansey twice in order to OHKO Chansey with Pursuit, in the same situation as Scizor. Lugia however, is at more risk. At -2 Defense, 252 Attack Choice Band Scizor has 92.31% to OHKO on the switch and after Stealth Rock damage, while Tyranitar only needs Lugia to be Tickled once to OHKO with Pursuit 100% of the time in the same situation before. Safeguard protects Wobbuffet and the rest of the team from status, which can also allow set-up sweepers to have a free set up turn if Wobbuffet encored a status move and used Safeguard afterwards.
