This is the point that I start kicking myself for not having accepted the sometime-role of divinity in the past and taking care of my believers, but hey, at least I can fix that now.

You know what you should definitely not do when you're supposed to be banned from interacting with the world? Spreading urban legends about yourself as a means to get around restrictions. As it turns out, in any city, in any country, you can go to a library, pull a certain musty book off the shelf where it was misfiled, and learn the mark of a minor deity that'll happily give you magic. And if you keep reading, you'll learn how to heal yourself and others, and even how to temporarily summon him, where subsequently the proxies of other gods will hunt him while he accidentally gives everyone within a mile radius Wolverine-level regeneration for the day.

It probably doesn't help that making the book appear like this means it isn't just limited to people actively looking for it, but literally anyone who comes across it. Abruptly, there are an AWFUL lot of magical librarians.

Also, one of the rituals in those books includes summoning pizza. Because infinite pizza should not be restricted.
