  1. I checked the bus app on my Alpha's phone. Two minutes. I had to get Bravo off that bus. I drummed my fingers waiting for the beeps to stop in my earpiece, coded a 'no answer' took off my headset and started toward the break room. B.J., never attentive to anything important, moved to intercept. Standing directly between me and the break room, he glowered. "Twenty more sales from your section. No breaks in the last twenty, sit down."
  2. "I need to get my bravo off the bus."
  3. "You should have done that during your break time."
  4. Easy for you to say, I thought. Maybe I should call you out for sexual harassment right now. Right here on the calling floor. "By law I'm allowed to take a short break in order to get my alt home. I'm not allowed to take my break in the last hour, and I'm off at 12. If I can't break now, I'm not allowed to break later." Coward. Call him out.
  5. "Sit down, Frank. Get your ass back into that seat and dial." No swearing on the calling floor, B.J., I thought to myself, the cortisol starting to tighten my face.
  6. "No," I said firmly, and walked past him. It would do for now. I didn't have time for this. I sat down in the break room, leaned against the wall and tabbed to Bravo.
  7. Just in time. I hurled Bravo to the bus door as quick as I could and sat him breathlessly on the bench outside.
  8. Alpha was shaking when I tabbed back. I hate that. It makes me feel weak. Any argument with that huge, skeevy bastard always left me shaking. I sat down, checked my phone, rested my face in my arm and closed my eyes. With the light blocked out, the pain wasn't as bad either.
  9. I returned to Bravo. He wasn't breathing so heavily anymore. I got up and headed for the apartment complex. Phone said 10:55. I should have called him out. I should complain to the manager. I should find a number for corporate. I set an alarm for eight minutes hence. Looking at the TAG app, djn was still It. He'd been It all day. He always forgets to check the app. He used to be a lot more lively there. Possible he found another game or another group, but his hours were European. I'm not even sure what the job market's like there.
  10. I should have called him out. He fucking sniffed her. That's disgusting. I felt sick again.
  11. I unlocked the door and sat down on my old computer case, facing the monitor. The phone alarm went off. I tabbed back to Alpha, sat up and opened my eyes. Still the migraine. We called folks a lot, too much obviously, but an airhorn just seemed beyond the pale. It's not like I had much choice. If you work too many shifts at one job it counts as full time and they have to start giving benefits. Nobody gives benefits, so I took what jobs I could. Not my fault this was the best I had available.
  12. I headed back to my desk, but B.J. stopped me again. I don't have time for this...
  13. "Frank, log out, go home. You're done today."
  14. Great. Fewer hours. Didn't fucking need this shit, but I needed the money this shit gave me. Oh well. At least I could get some housework done. "No thanks, B.J., I'd rather stick it out." Tell him not to perv on Lorie. Tell him. Passive-aggressive snide remarks won't cut it.
  15. "Go home, Frank, I'm not dealing with you today. If you can't do the work, go home."
  16. Fine. Fuck it. I walked away, glaring at him as I passed. When I got to my cubicle his back was turned, so I flipped him off. "See ya around, Lorie," I said, grabbing my bookbag and hitting the logout sequence.
