  3. Hi Susan,
  4.
  5. I just read online that having an ISIC card allows me to get discounted airfares of up to 40% off? I have an ISIC card but I don’t know how to apply the discount.
  6.
  7. I’m currently looking flight OZ602 with Asiana Airlines going from SYD to ICN on the Sunday 21st of February 2016 and it’s priced at $779.54. Can you please teach me how to apply the ISIC discount?
  8.
  9. Or at least explain to my how to claim ISIC discounts with STA Travel since I can’t find information on it anywhere. All the search results are just pages telling me to buy an ISIC card and not how to actually use it with STA travel.
  10.
  11. Kind regards,
  12. Bob

  18. Hi Bob,
  19.
  20. We do have discounted fares.
  21.
  22. However it is not for all fares.
  23.
  24. I have had a look and there are not discount on OZ. I can get the same price as you.
  25.
  26. We do have discount with China Southern though. However it is very similar price and it has 1 transit. It cost $715 + $30 for the ISIC card.

  34. Hi Susan,
  35.
  36. Thanks for getting back to me. Is there a link which shows all the discounted flights that ISIC card holders are eligible for? I assume there’s more than just one discount with China Southern.
  37.
  38. Cheers,
  39. Bob

  59. Hi Susan,
  60.
  61. That’s not what I’m looking for unfortunately.
  62. On their website they mention they have “Exclusive travel deals up to 40 % off travel at STA Travel, and 5% off travel insurance.”http://www.isiccard.com.au/latest-local-benefits-3/
  63.
  64. I’m looking for that list of exclusive travel deals that STA provides ISIC card holders.

  72. Hi Bob,
  73.
  74. I am sorry that is not what you are after.
  75.
  76. The discount varies daily so we do not have a list of the actual discounts that I can provide.
  77.
  78. We certainly can offer you 5% off travel insurance if you have the card.
  79.
  80. Did you want to buy one?
  81.
  82. This card does give you discounts but most importantly it is an international recognise I.D that is its main purpose.

  90. Hi Susan,
  91.
  92. Even if it varies daily could you point me to where I might find these daily STA travel deals that are available to ISIC card holders? Or is that not really possible either?
  93.
  94. At the moment I’m not particularly impressed with ISIC or STA Travel since it seems like just a marketing ploy to advertise “up to 40%” discounts but not actually delivering on such a promise or at least making clear what discounts actually exist currently for ISIC card holders.
  95.
  96. When you mentioned the China Southern discount, is that saying that if you pay $30 extra you can get an ISIC card? I’m not looking for an ISIC card since I already have one, I’m just looking for the supposed benefits of having one an ISIC card when making bookings with STA travel.

  104. Hi Bob,
  105.
  106. We have discounts all the time with different airlines.
  107.
  108. They change all the time and this is why we do not have any collateral to hand out.
  109.
  110. This depends on the exchange rate, the availability and the routing.
  111.
  112. I sold a Sydney- Los Angeles last month which was well over 40% off but this is not available this month.
  113.
  114. Our fares are negotiated all the time with the airlines to get these discounts.
  115.
  116. We can provide discounts that are there all the time but flights change to often.

  124. Hi Susan,
  125.
  126. I assume the Sydney- Los Angeles flight with 40% off was not an ISIC card holder exclusive discount, correct me if I’m wrong.
  127.
  128. I’m not talking about STA Travel discounts in general as I’m sure they do change a lot. I don’t doubt that in the slightest. I’m just talking about the supposed "exclusive discounts" to ISIC card holders which I can’t find any information on at all.

  172. Susan, I’m just talking about the exclusive deals between STA Travel and ISIC card holders.
  173.
  174. On that very page you linked it says: "Exclusive airfares and travel deals at STA Travel”
  175.
  176. Even of STA Travel’s very own discount card page (http://www.statravel.com.au/discount_cards.htm) it says “The benefits of the ISIC card include exclusive discounts on worldwide flights”.
  177.
  178. I am not talking about generic discounts that the ISIC card provides. I am simply inquiring about these exclusive discounts between STA Travel and ISIC card holders.

  187.
  188. STA has their own fares/contracts with the airlines.
  189.
  190. One of our fantastic deals would be lay-by.
  191.
  192. This is a product that we only offer. The fares that can be lay-by need to have an ISIC card. Again these are only certain fares.
