Two CIA agents, Tuck and Frank who are also best friends, have been benched because someone&#39;s after them. Tuck is divorced with a son whom he&#39;s not close to and Frank is a ladies man. Tuck decides to try and find someone so he places his profile on a dating website. Lauren, a woman also looking for a guy sees Tuck&#39;s profile and goes with him. She later bumps into Frank and he hits on her and she goes out with him. She&#39;s intrigued by both of them. When they learn that they&#39;re dating the same girl, they agree to let her choose. But both can&#39;t help but use their skills to keep tabs on her and each other. And also sabotage each other&#39;s dates with her.
In Los Angeles, Franklin Foster - FDR to his friends - and Tuck Hansen are best friends and partners as undercover CIA agents, however recently reassigned to desk jobs after a covert operation gone wrong, which resulted in the death of criminal Jonas Heinrich, and his brother Karl Heinrich being able to escape, he who vows revenge on the two. Being undercover, not even their closest friends and family know what FDR and Tuck do, those people believing the covers of them being a cruise ship captain and travel agent respectively. The two are different when it comes to their love life. FDR is a serial womanizer and party boy. Tuck is a recently divorced father, who still wants the traditional family life with his ex-wife Katie and their young adolescent son Joe, that life which does not seem like it will happen. Each of their love lives take a turn when they meet through different channels Lauren Scott, an executive at a consumer product testing company. Lauren, relatively new to Los Angeles, is just reentering the dating scene after her last relationship went sour. FDR and Tuck eventually learn that they are both dating Lauren, who each believes could be the true love of their respective life. As neither will forgo Lauren for the other, they set some ground rules in their relationships with her, including not telling her that they know each other or that they know she is dating &quot;someone else&quot;, that they will not sleep with her, and that they will not let her get in the way of their friendship and partnership. But as their feelings for Lauren grows, their rules may go out the window, with each doing whatever needed to win Lauren, even at the expense of their friendship. Conversely, Lauren loves both men, and receives dating advice from her best friend, married, over-sexed and straight talking Trish. Through it all, Heinrich could reenter the picture, he who could change the face of what&#39;s happening in their personal lives.
From reviews here I see that the humor in this movie might be a hit and miss, but I enjoyed the movie very much. It&#39;s quick paced, filled with gorgeous people, has nice flavourful background moments and is, first and foremost designed to give you a happy ending.<br/><br/>Suspend logic for a moment, it&#39;s very much a wish fullfillment rom-com and a spy-themed buddy comedy. An interesting combination, and pretty much what you need sometimes.<br/><br/>Of course it&#39;s superficial, of course it&#39;s silly, of course the humor sometimes falls flat, but there are good moments in it too and if you do watch it for the escapist fluff factor, you&#39;re well served.
When two very different federal agents, with a strong friendship between them, try to seduce and eventually fall for the same woman, the make a deal to fight fair for her heart. Obviously, this is not going to happen so, much sooner than imagined, they start to use every mean considered necessary for this sole purpose.<br/><br/>It&#39;s a movie which tries to seem serious by providing a good plot with a couple of good actors, but which can only lead to one result. Thus, what it ends up to be is a great comedy which presents multiple situations, bound to make you laugh out loud. The nice part is that it mostly succeeds, really making you laugh, or at least providing a very good time. The not so good part is that it tends to exaggerate in this aspect, focusing way too much on the funny part of things, leaving the story a little bit behind. It&#39;s not something that can ruin the experience, but it is worth noting it.<br/><br/>The overall impression it leaves is a very positive one, managing to create an entertaining atmosphere, with a not so predictable course of events which ultimately lead to a quite satisfying finale. It&#39;s a very good watch if you&#39;re in for a comedy but don&#39;t expect something ground-breaking in terms of everything else.
The result is 98 minutes of moronic stupidity already being labeled on the Internet as "the worst movie of the year."
This Means War is based on a screenplay co-written by Timothy Dowling, Marcus Gautesen, and Simon Kinberg (who also co-produced). &quot;Good Love&quot; by Kram. The song was Woman by the Australian rock band Wolfmother. It has become a common phenomenon that Director&#39;s Cuts are only released on Blu-ray disc, which also is the case here. Since May 22th, 2012, it has been available for purchase in US shops. A direct comparison of the two versions identifies the Director&#39;s Cut as a bluff package. The only &quot;sexual&quot; content is a harmless intro in a James Bond style. The most of the additional running time consists of the &#39;fake family scene&#39;, in which Tuck Henson pays a few actors to play his family in order to impress Lauren. In order to get the more lucrative PG-13 for its theatrical release, some &quot;sleazy&quot; scenes needed to be removed.
