  1. **Edit3**: Read the article yet? Downloaded and uncompressed the file via the torrent? Want to make use of the magnet link hashes within it? Read on...:
  2.
  3. OK.
  4.
  5. So [this](http://i.imgur.com/4jUUn.png) is an example of what you'd find in the file. Selected in blue; is a magnet **hash**:
  6.
  7. Take this example hash:
  8.
  9. 5316391aed813d4283178dce2b95c8ad56c5be72
  10.
  11. and you apply it to this:
  12.
  13. magnet:?xt=urn:btih:
  14.
  15. to make this:
  16.
  17. magnet:?xt=urn:btih:5316391aed813d4283178dce2b95c8ad56c5be72
  18.
  19. which links to a ubuntu 11.10 iso. Paste it in your browser address bar and launch it from there (hit enter?)
  20.
  21. Up pops your torrent client, and after connecting to the swarm successfully, it will start downloading the torrent the hash links to.
  22.
  23. Try that example now. Then download this fucking tpb snapshot torrent. 90mb and you'll always have a backup of tpb for when the site gets DDoS'd or goes down for maintenance. Fucking Awesome.
  24.
  25.
  26. **Edit**:
  27.
  28. The above is only how you *use* the magnet link data. Some confusion below. So here are some links for the lazy.
  29.
  30. Read this whole comment thread if you're confused, some great advice.
  31.
  32.
  33. The torrent of the TPB magnet snapshot is here: https://thepiratebay.se/torrent/7016365
  34.
  35. or its Magnet Link: magnet:?xt=urn:btih:938802790a385c49307f34cca4c30f80b03df59c
  36.
  37.
  38. Use Winrar to decompress the .gz file in the torrent: http://www.rarlab.com/
  39.
  40. or 7zip (free) http://www.7-zip.org/
  41.
  42.
  43. Then use LTF Viewer to view/search this massive (10's of thousands of pages) document: http://www.swiftgear.com/ltfviewer/features.html
  44.
  45. or here are some [other options](http://stackoverflow.com/questions/159521/text-editor-to-open-big-giant-huge-large-text-files). Thanks to [r721](http://www.reddit.com/user/r721)
  46.
  47.
  48. **Edit2**:
  49.
  50. If you think this offline TPB directory of magnet links is cool [MarcusOrlyius](http://www.reddit.com/r/trackers/comments/ph2cx/17_million_torrents_in_535_mb/) has linked to an offline copy of [Bitsnoop.com](http://bitsnoop.com/) with **~17m torrents** organised by category in ~30 files (movies, games, software, audio, other) in exactly the same way as the TPB one is, just in easier to search files, not one big dump. Good work, had to edit it in, even if its not the same novelty value, its probably superior. Its a 500Mb download but its very fast. Thanks [Marcus](http://www.reddit.com/user/MarcusOrlyius) - MAGNET LINK: magnet:?xt=urn:btih:F5615DFB80AC995787C1B2219A75DF7805278DEA
