  1. What is Beta Quest?
  2. TPHD Beta Quest is a TPHD mod created by dragonbane0 in which most loading zones (except for those in dungeons, etc.) are random, allowing for randomized playthroughs and cool tricks with limited items. Additionally, dragonbane0 has patched back in all tricks from TPSD except for Back in Time, which is part of the reason I and others will be referring to this as TPSDHD. There are a couple other oddities that allow for big route differences as well.

  4. Then why aren't the loads randomized?
  5. Using the filename Link retains certain elements like the Horse Call and TPSD tricks while keeping the loading zones normal (with the exception of savewarping from the overworld, which will always warp you to central castle town.

  7. What is going on at the beginning?
  8. At the beginning of Beta Quest, you can pick a bomb bag or the horse call. The horse call is involved in far more tricks and is incredibly unique (given that you can call Epona to almost anywhere), so I will be grabbing it every time.

  10. How long should Link filename any% be?
  11. Dragonbane0's latest estimate is around 2:45:xx, but it's possible that with new finds and experimentation that the time could go lower.

  13. Current route (unfinished and changing):
  14. ORDON:
  15. Skip cutscene
  16. Go back into house and grab horse call (left chest)
  17. Use rock to bonk through ordon gate
  18. Call horse on bridge
  19. Follow normal save talo route (get lantern, key, break cage, etc.)
  20. Goats 2
  21. Get Iron Boots (continue to talk to Bo until he wrestles you)
  22. Roll to sewers (Epona is slower here iirc)
  23. Sewers (normal sewers)
  24. Go through Midna text
  25. Call epona and epona oob
  26. (Going from Faron side of the bridge to Spring side, turn
  27. sharply left at the very end of the bridge on the left side.
  28. You should be floating under the bridge on Epona. Ride around
  29. to the right until you can go through the wall and go underneath
  30. the twilight trigger. This should let you into the twilight)

  32. FARON:
  33. Do shadow beasts and get Midna charge
  34. Skip Vessel
  35. Skip all bugs
  36. Go through tunnel (use shortcut)
  37. Change into human link and use lantern to cross fog to N. Faron
  38. Use EMS jump to get up on ledge
  39. Walk around to the Forest Temple area
  40. Transform into human and use lantern to enter Forest Temple
  41. Break cage and kill bokoblin
  42. Use Deku Baba heads to kill spiders
  43. Light lanterns
  44. Skip ook cutscene
  45. Epona slide across bridge gap (kinda precise, practice it)
  46. Ook (use wolf for one cycle, human for remaining two, should
  47. save one cycle)
  48. Boomerang
  49. Savewarp to Entrance
  50. Leave Forest Temple
  51. Go back to North Faron Shadow Beasts and EMS jump again
  52. Go to Sacred Grove and do first 3 skull kid hits normally
  53. Transform into human and do master sword puzzle skip
  54. (this skips fighting skull kid and doing the puzzle)
  55. Master Sword
  56. Warp to South Faron
  57. Faron Escape
  58. Call Epona
  59. Postman Skip
  60. Enter Eldin

  62. ELDIN:
  63. Kill gorge shadow beasts
  64. Gorge void (free because input buffering)
  65. Rupee Roll to skip gorge
  66. Enter Kakariko (avoid KB1 trigger)
  67. Kakariko Portal
  68. Exit Kakariko (avoid KB1 trigger)
  69. Enter gorge cutscene from other side
  70. (we could skip the trigger and cross the gap
  71. with epona, but we need map warp, so we have
  72. to get the cutscene)
  73. Warp to South Faron
  74. Savewarp

  76. LANAYRU:
  77. You should now be in castle town
  78. Run out to the west
  79. Call epona once you are off the bridge
  80. Go to Lake Hylia Bridge and get cutscene
  81. Fall down to lake

  84. Alright so this is the weird part, I realized that we can't get clawshot immediately here. Our options look kinda like this:
  85. - Get ooccoo, savewarp, ooccoo out, finish lanayru twilight and eldin twilight, steal iza bombs w/ooccoo (could get goron bomb bag, but I don't see the point), ooccoo back, lakebed in one go more or less by blowing up the rock. After lakebed we now have no za, lent bomb bag, would need bomb bag later for zant water phase (steal bomb bag and dupe or get goron bomb bag earlier idk)
  86. - Get boss flags from diababa so we can just do clawshot immediately and then worry about bombs later
  87. - Get ZA via KB2 skip after simply finishing the two twilights and get rid of this whole argument altogether (pot clip, no morpheel without bombs, skip bombs altogether due to early b&c)

  91. Savewarp from overworld to get to castle town
  92. Dash to Telma's Bar
  93. MDH like in SD

  97. Snowpeak (frankly this can go just about anywhere, placement would depend on what we do to get to deku toad):

  99. Map glitch to disable void trigger
  100. Run up Snowpeak
  101. Howl at stone to disable map glitch, exit

  103. Snowboard
  104. Get B&C the normal way
