  1. The Book of Limhi
  2.
  3. An account of Ammon and King Limhi's escape to the Kingdom of Zarahemla.
  4.
  5. Traditionally composing of Mosiah chapter 22
  6.
  7. --------------------Chapter 1--------------------
  8.
  9. 1 Ammon and King Limhi worked together to come up with a plan to free them from slavery.
  10.
  11. 2 They gathered all of the people together so that they could hear their opinions and ideas.
  12.
  13. 3 The only solution they could come up with was to take their families, livestock, tents, and possessions that they could carry and flee to the wilderness.
  14.
  15. 4 There were too many Lamanites for the people of Limhi to win a fight for their freedom.
  16.
  17. 5 Gideon spoke to the king and said:
  18.
  19. 6 "My king, you have always listened to me when we have fought the Lamanites.
  20.
  21. 7 Even if I have failed you in the past, listen to me now: I will free our people."
  22.
  23. 8 King Limhi allowed him to speak.
  24.
  25. 9 Gideon continued by saying:
  26.
  27. 10 "On the back side of the city, there is a passage way through the walls of the city.
  28.
  29. 11 The Lamanites that guard us often get drunk at night.
  30.
  31. 12 We should issue a secret proclamation to our people that they should gather their families, livestock, tents, and possessions so that we can flee through this passage at night.
  32.
  33. 13 I will give the rest of our wine to the Lamanite guards as part of our tax. They will drink it all and will pass out from their drunkenness. This will allow us to make our escape undetected.
  34.
  35. 14 We will flee into the wilderness and travel around the land of Shilom."
  36.
  37. 15 King Limhi listened to what Gideon and spoken and agreed with him.
  38.
  39. 16 King Limhi gave the secret proclamation to his people and sent the tax of wine to the Lamanite guards. He also sent his personal wine to them. The Lamanite guards drank as much as they could.
  40.
  41. 17 The people of Limhi's plan worked perfectly, and they were able to escape. They went around the land of Shilom in the wilderness and were led by Ammon and his expedition team towards the Kingdom of Zarahemla.
  42.
  43. 18 They took all their gold, silver, and all the valuable things that they could carry. They also took enough food for them to make it to their destination.
  44.
  45. 19 After traveling for many days, they arrived in the Kingdom of Zarahemla. They joined with the people of King Mosiah the 2nd and became his subjects.
  46.
  47. 20 King Mosiah the 2nd accepted them with great joy. He also took their histories and records that were found by Limhi's expedition team and added them to their own library.
  48.
  49. 21 When the Lamanites found that the people of Limhi had disappeared, they sent armies into the wilderness to try and chase them.
  50.
  51. 22 After they chased them for 2 days, they could no longer find their tracks, and they themselves were lost in the wilderness.
