  1. "im very concerned about this and im kinda shook, this kid is twelve years old. why are we having a discussion about a twelve
  2. year olds gender identity?"
  3.
  4. For clinic-referred children, onset of cross-gender behaviors is usually between ages 2 and 4 years. This corresponds to the developmental time period in which most typically developing children begin expressing gendered behaviors and interests. For some preschool-age children, both pervasive cross-gender behaviors and the expressed desire to be the other gender may be present, or, more rarely, labeling oneself as a member of the other gender may occur, usually at entry into elementary school. A small minority of children express discomfort with their sexual anatomy or will state the desire to have a sexual anatomy corresponding to the experienced gender ("anatomic dysphoria"). Expressions of anatomic dysphoria become more common as children with gender dysphoria approach and anticipate puberty. - source: Diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorders (DSM-5) by the American Psychiatric Assiociation (APA)

  7. children can have feelings too lol, if you put a 2 year old natal male in boys clothing and he cries but when you put him in a dress he is happy is he not expressing his gender? sure you could say its a one off thing but if they consistently feel this way for upto 9 years as dwyane's child did at what point do you take it seriously? where do you draw the line from "its a phase" to "its gender dysphoria"?

  11. "lets say everyone watching this video your child says "i wanna identify as something else, i feel like im not in the right
  12. biological body" and your child is 12 years old. how would you guys react?"
  13.
  14. I would trust that my child understands their feelings and given i had the resources and opportunity to do so i would take them to see a gender therapist.

  19. his answer to the above question, mentions that trans people are harassed
  20.
  21. you are right some, maybe even most trans people get harassed for being trans and yet they still choose to transition, continue transitioning or stay transitioned. why do you think this is?
  22.
  23.
  24. "with dwyane wades situation its hard finding that all these news outlets have been talking about this for maybe 2 weeks or more
  25. now, its been heavy the past week. imagine being the child and now you are getting all this publicity over the fact about how you
  26. feel and what you feel in this moment"
  27.
  28. i imagine being the child of a famous NBA player puts them in the spotlight more than being trans does. whether they are trans or not their life will basically be broadcast to the world because of how celebrities are treated.

  32. "you know what's crazy? i think they are kind of doing this for attention too because dwyane wade is going on a press run right
  33. now, why are you going on a press run because your child decide's to be transgender?"
  34.
  35. He is on a press run because he has a documentary coming out about his life and career called "D. Wade: Life Unexpected" naturally when its listed as one of the details in the documentary the media is going to ask him about it.
  36.
  37. "Beginning with intimate details about his life growing up in Chicago, continuing on through his emergence as a star at Marquette and then with the Miami Heat, the documentary covers every chapter of Wade’s path. From dealing with drug raids on his house as a young child; to becoming a father as a college sophomore; to the long and painful custody battle for his children years later; as well as his relationship with his wife, actress Gabrielle Union-Wade and the challenges they’ve encountered; and embracing his child Zion’s gender identity, the film does not shy away from the difficult topics." - https://espnpressroom.com/us/press-releases/2020/02/intimate-documentary-on-life-and-career-of-nba-legend-dwyane-wade-d-wade-life-unexpected-to-premiere-february-23-on-espn/
