  1. Objectives:
  2. 1] Update your wii to the latest firmware.
  3. 2] Install the Homebrew Channel, Bootmii, & DVDX onto your wii.
  4. 3] Enable the trucha bug your Wii for homebrew to operate correctly.
  5. 4] Install custom IOS 202, 222 & 223 [Hermes v4], 249 & 250 [Waninkoko v19] to your wii.
  6. 5] Allow your Wii to play Wii backups through a backup loader, directly from the disc channel, &/or via usb.
  7. 6] Play Wiiware & Virtual Console games off the sd card menu.

  11. Update to 4.2
  12. Follow this if your not on 4.2 yet, it will update all of your IOS's & System menu to the latest firmware.

  14. Setting up the SD Card
  15. 1st download the precompiled link update.zip for your region by emailing simplisticmod@gmail.com
  16. Extract the "update.zip" & put the files onto a SD card & insert the SD card into the Wii.

  18. Installing The Homebrew Channel & Bootmii
  19. Run bannerbomb by going to the Settings, Data Management, Channels, SD Card & choosing yes to load boot.dol/elf
  20. This runs the Hackmii Installer from which you should install the Homebrew Channel, DVDX [optional], & Bootmii as IOS & boot2 if possible.

  22. Update to 4.2
  23. Run Yet Another WAD Manager Mod from The Homebrew Channel.
  24. Scroll down the list to find & install:
  25. *Really important stuff here! Do not skip or alter steps in any way!*
  26. IOS70-64-v6687.wad
  27. & System Menu-NUS-v481.wad [NTSC-J = v480; PAL = v482]
  28. Then proceed to install the remaining 22 different IOS files & Shopping Channel-NUS-v18.wad by pressing + on each one then A to install them. It should say 23 files will be installed.

  30. You can then erase everything from the update.zip & setup everything from the modify.zip
  31. Advance to the Modify 4.2 section to reinstall The Homebrew Channel so it can run under the correct IOS.

  36. The actual hacking guide. Only will work for those on a 4.2 firmware.

  38. Setting up the SD Card
  39. 1st download the precompiled link modify.zip by emailing simplisticmod@gmail.com

  41. The modify.zip should come with MMM and Priiloader. If it does not, e-mail modifyanywii@gmail.com for the updated package.

  44. Run bannerbomb by going to the SD Card menu & choosing yes to load boot.dol/elf
  45. This runs the Hackmii Installer from which you should install the Homebrew Channel, DVDX [optional], & Bootmii as IOS & boot2 if possible.

  47. Making a NAND backup
  48. Restart your Wii, if Bootmii was installed as boot2, then it will show up as soon as the Wii is turned on.
  49. If Bootmii was only installed as an IOS, then it must be loaded by pressing home in the HBC & clicking Launch Bootmii.
  50. Press the power button on the wii 3 times to get to the last option, then press the reset button.
  51. [You can also navigate with a gc controller.]
  52. Press reset to choose the first option, & then follow the directions on the screen to make your NAND backup.
  53. [Bad blocks are no problem.]
  54. Backup the Bootmii folder, NAND.bin, & keys.bin elsewhere & erase from the sd card. [or rename it.]
  55. Head back to The Homebrew Channel.

  57. Restoring the Trucha Bug, Removing Stub IOS's, Installing cIOS & Patching the System Menu IOS
  58. Run MMM [Multi-Mod Manager]
  59. On the main menu, go down to select Install & Patch IOS36 and press A.
  60. Choose Express Mode and press A.
  61. Press any button to return to the main menu.

  63. When back on the main menu, go down to select Remove stubbed IOSs and press A.
  64. Press A to choose remove stub IOS 222, 223, 249, 250, 254.
  65. Press any button to return to the main menu.
  66.  
  67. When back on the main menu, press right to go to WAD manager.
  68. Press 1 to select all the WAD's then A to install them.
  69. Press any button to return to WAD manager.
