  7. [16:46] * Maxwell stands a safe distance behind Roland
  8. [16:48] <~DarkSunDuelist> You open the headmaster's office to find 3 people in it already in addition to the headmaster.
  9. [16:49] <%Roland> "...Are we early, Max? Looks like he's occupied."
  10. [16:50] <~DarkSunDuelist> "No, this is the proper time."
  11. [16:52] <~DarkSunDuelist> "...however, I called 3 of you here. Where is your third teammate?"
  12. [16:52] <%Roland> "Probably a doctor's call, but she didn't say this time."
  13. [16:53] <~DarkSunDuelist> The older of the three, a young woman with long black hair in a ponytail, pipes up.
  14. [16:53] <~DarkSunDuelist> "I believe she is off gathering her weapon."
  15. [16:53] <~DarkSunDuelist> The headmaster steeples his fingers.
  16. [16:53] <~DarkSunDuelist> "Ah, yes, of course. We may have to brief her later, then.
  17. [16:54] <%Roland> "who are you guys, anyway."
  18. [16:55] <Maxwell> "I've been wondering about this myself."
  19. [16:56] <~DarkSunDuelist> The headmaster sits up, "Ah, yes, where are my manners."
  20. [16:56] <~DarkSunDuelist> "These are Kaoru and Emil Pryderi, 6th and 9th in line for the throne of Valoran, respectively."
  21. [16:56] <~DarkSunDuelist> The woman with the ponytail bows.
  22. [16:57] <~DarkSunDuelist> A young man that looks to be about your age also bows.
  23. [16:57] <~DarkSunDuelist> "And this is their...retainer, were you?"
  24. [16:58] <~DarkSunDuelist> A young woman with brown hair with fiery red tips coughs. The golden stripes on her black jacket's sleeves shimmer as she waves her arm in a lackadasical motion.
  25. [16:58] <~DarkSunDuelist> "Not really their retainer in the traditional sense. Emil was my team captain for a while, though."
  26. [16:59] * %Roland bows in response.
  27. [17:00] <~DarkSunDuelist> She coughs again, and absentmindedly reaches out to shake Maxwell's hand with the hand she just coughed into.
  28. [17:00] <~DarkSunDuelist> "Nova. Nova G. How're you doing?"
  29. [17:00] * Maxwell hastil takes his bow
  30. [17:01] * Maxwell gets right back up to take her hand
  31. [17:01] * Maxwell gives a clumsy shake and stands at attention, blushing brightly
  32. [17:01] <%Roland> "Kaoru was the one looking after our absent teammate, right? Thanks for your help towards her."
  33. [17:02] <~DarkSunDuelist> Kaoru smiles and dusts something off of her outfit, a weird ceremonial robe-looking thing with swooshy pants and a loose shirt. She looks like something out of a samurai flick.
  34. [17:02] <Maxwell> "Yes. Um. Thank you very much."
  35. [17:02] <~DarkSunDuelist> Emil, her brother, sports equally black hair, but his is spiked backwards, with his bangs attempting to cover his eyes, but doing so poorly.
  36. [17:04] <~DarkSunDuelist> His outfit is all black, a stark contrast to the paler skin he shares with his sister. It's rather stylish, yet also seems to be durable enough to withstand combat.
  37. [17:04] <~DarkSunDuelist> "Yes," Kaoru says, smiling more, "Ambrosine has been a lovely protoge of mine. She's had a rough past year."

  39. [17:06] <%Roland> "I could imagine... So! What are we meeting here for? Something important?"
  40. [17:08] <Maxwell> "We're eager to attend to anything that's needed of us."
  41. [17:08] <~DarkSunDuelist> Glenwood speaks up. "Yes, we're here to brief you on the goings-on that have been happening over the past few months."
  42. [17:08] <~DarkSunDuelist> "Last time you were in my office, I sent you on a very important mission to scout out a location. Do you know why?"
  43. [17:10] <%Roland> "Guessing you needed to confirm what Maletizio was trying to hide there?"
  44. [17:10] <~DarkSunDuelist> "Correct. How in the know are you regarding Maletizio Pryderi's movements in recent times?"
  45. [17:11] <Maxwell> "Speaking for myself, somewhat out of the loop."
  46. [17:12] <%Roland> "I know that he's been building up his military, in addition to what we saw there for ourselves."
  47. [17:14] <~DarkSunDuelist> "Maletizio Pryderi is responsible for the original and continued outbreaks of the Amorphic Creatures."
  48. [17:14] <%Roland> "Ah, right."

  50. [17:16] <~DarkSunDuelist> "This is part of some demented plan to somehow drive Hunters out of business and promote Military growth and funding."
  51. [17:17] <Maxwell> "Dastardly."
  52. [17:18] <~DarkSunDuelist> "We're not sure what his reasoning is there, either."
  53. [17:19] <~DarkSunDuelist> "In any event, Maletizio must be stopped. The Amorph problem is easy enough to handle now, however we have casualties and this can't go on."
  54. [17:19] <~DarkSunDuelist> "For that, we asked you to scout the area initially."
  55. [17:20] <~DarkSunDuelist> "Your report was very enlightening. For starters, we are now aware of how trapped the area is. We are also aware that Maletizio has a dragon at his disposal."
  56. [17:21] <~DarkSunDuelist> "Further investiagtion revealed a massive force that Maletizio was gathering, most of which is believed to be Amorphs masqurading as humans."
  57. [17:22] <~DarkSunDuelist> "To the end of dealing with it, we request you and your teammate's assistance in this matter."
  58. [17:22] <Maxwell> "Our entire number is at your disposal."
  59. [17:23] <%Roland> "This definitely needs dealt with. I'll help out as much I can."
  60. [17:26] <~DarkSunDuelist> "Excellent. You will be assigned together with Emil, Kaoru, and Nova as the initial Scouting party and Strike Team."
  61. [17:27] <~DarkSunDuelist> "This is an international concern, so you will be shipped out in the morning, and report to your commander on arrival."
  62. [17:27] <~DarkSunDuelist> He hands you both a keycard.
  63. [17:28] * Maxwell takes it and pockets it
  64. [17:28] <~DarkSunDuelist> "This will give you free access to anything you think you might need at the shops. You will only get this evening to prepare. I suggest you do so."
  65. [17:28] * %Roland takes it.
  66. [17:28] <~DarkSunDuelist> "...and gentlemen, if you have any last regrets or need to notify your next of kin, I suggest you tend to that as well. 05Once you leave, there is a chance you won't ever come back."
  67. [17:29] <~DarkSunDuelist> "With that, you're dismissed."
  68. [17:29] * %Roland nods and heads out.
  69. [17:29] * Maxwell gives a departing bow and turns 180 to leave
  70. [17:30] <~DarkSunDuelist> The trio leaves with you.
  71. [17:30] <~DarkSunDuelist> If you'd like to try to get to know them, this would probably be the time.
  72. [17:30] <~DarkSunDuelist> You may not have another chance.
  73. [17:32] <%Roland> "So, we're going to be fighting together?"
  74. [17:33] <Maxwell> "What're some of your fighting styles?"
  75. [17:34] <~DarkSunDuelist> Nova: "Amorphs, probably. Almost certainly, actually."
  76. [17:35] <~DarkSunDuelist> Emil: "It seems like we're going to have to fight an army."
  77. [17:35] <~DarkSunDuelist> Nova yawns.
  78. [17:36] <~DarkSunDuelist> Kaoru: "My fighting style is based on a theatrically romantic dueling style passed down from a cross-dimensional drifter."
  79. [17:36] <~DarkSunDuelist> Emil: "She hits people with a sword and makes the blood spray in symbols and shit."
  80. [17:37] <%Roland> "...Thanks, Emil. She already lost me there."
  81. [17:37] <~DarkSunDuelist> Kaoru closes her eyes and claps her hands to her chest. She seems to be lost in the romanticism of her own art.
  82. [17:38] <~DarkSunDuelist> Emil: "She's also got a few stage hands running around at all times to help her with stunts."
  83. [17:38] <Maxwell> "Uh-huh. Anyone else?"
  84. [17:38] <~DarkSunDuelist> Emil points at his eyes: "I see how to make dead people in 2 cuts or your pizza's free."
  85. [17:39] <%Roland> "We should figure out if we've got any techniques that synergize with each other, then. Chances aside, I'd like to make sure we don't die as much as we could."
  86. [17:39] <Maxwell> "This was my line of thought."
  87. [17:39] <%Roland> "...wait, that sounds a lot like one of my abilities."
  88. [17:39] <~DarkSunDuelist> Emil: "I can teleport short distances and to wherever my weapon is. I also cut really fast."
  89. [17:41] <%Roland> "I think I've got your kind of sight, and I can make more of myself. I'm also basically covered in different magitechs right now."
  90. [17:42] <~DarkSunDuelist> Emil: "I say 'two cuts', but I actually make a lot of really tiny cuts in what looks like 1 swing."
  91. [17:42] <~DarkSunDuelist> Nova: "I'm a Pee-Two-Double-U girl."
  92. [17:42] <~DarkSunDuelist> Emil frowns without looking away. "Nobody but you is going to know what that means."
  93. [17:43] <~DarkSunDuelist> Nova sighs "I pay to win. Literally."
  94. [17:43] <%Roland> "what."
  95. [17:43] <~DarkSunDuelist> Nova: "My powers are almost exclusively based around gold."
  96. [17:44] <~DarkSunDuelist> "I throw it in large bursts, convert it to energy for my abilities, I can even make shields and such out of it."
  97. [17:44] <~DarkSunDuelist> "Most people have to buy their equipment with their funds. I just convert my funds to power."
  98. [17:47] <Maxwell> "That's very direct."
  99. [17:49] <%Roland> "Sounds like we have a bunch of attack techniques squared away, then. Does anyone have something that could debilitate a larger enemy?"
  100. [17:50] <~DarkSunDuelist> Nova looks to the side. "That's more Kaoru's department, but none of us have fought anything close to a dragon."
  101. [17:50] <~DarkSunDuelist> Nova: "Well...I did, once...but she kicked my ass."
  102. [17:52] <Maxwell> "I can relate."
  103. [17:53] <Maxwell> "I'll have you know it was quite the noble and steadfast skirmish."
  104. [17:53] <~DarkSunDuelist> Nova: "...You ran like a bitch, too, huh?"

  106. [17:54] <Maxwell> "Well, it was in her direction, so I think that counts as mounting an offensive."
  107. [17:57] <%Roland> "pfft."
  108. [17:58] <Maxwell> "He can vouch for me."
  109. [17:58] <Maxwell> "Right?"
  110. [17:59] <%Roland> "Yeah, sure. You looked pretty brave from my peripheral vision."
  111. [18:02] <~DarkSunDuelist> Kaoru giggles softly.
  112. [18:02] <~DarkSunDuelist> Nova: "Don't feel too bad. Anyway, we should probably get some shopping done."
  113. [18:02] <~DarkSunDuelist> Nova: "We've got to ship out before dawn, so we need to do that shit now so we can sleep tonight."
  114. [18:03] <%Roland> "Alright."
  115. [18:04] <~DarkSunDuelist> After tonight, you will not be permitted to make purchases OOC. All purchases must be submitted by SUNDAY at the latest.
  116. [18:04] <Maxwell> ((Sounds good.))
