  1. Danmachi Lovers Short Stories
  2. Waifus: Eris, Tiona, (Camilla, Ryuu, Aiz, Lefiya, Tyche)
  3.
  4. Because I was actually able to have LIVE that weekend I only started on the first two so I worked on finishing them.
  5.
  6. All of these stories take place in the past, and levels/skills are scaled back to compensate.
  7.
  8. Maybe I'll come back and finish the rest some other time.
  9.
  10. -Tiona Story Start-
  11.
  12. When you asked Tiona out for a date this week you didn’t think you’d end up in this situation days later.
  13.
  14. “This is unorthodox, isn’t it?”
  15.
  16. “Maybe, but it’s also exciting! Isn’t your heart pounding?”
  17.
  18. You can’t really argue that point.
  19.
  20. Hanging onto a sheer cliff face, thousands of feet in the air, you can’t help how nervous you feel.
  21.
  22. You look down only to see fog blocking your view of the bottom.
  23.
  24. It was impulsive, you already know only jagged rocks await you below.
  25.
  26. “What’s up? Why are you taking so long when we’re almost there?”
  27.
  28. Tiona climbs back down to your position and hangs over you without fear.
  29.
  30. “Um, I was just thinking….this request. Don’t you think it’s a bit weird?”
  31.
  32. “What’s weird about it? I know you haven’t taken a retrieval quest outside of the dungeon before, but there really isn’t anything strange about this one. At least compared to the others.”
  33.
  34. “We’re grabbing the eggs of a Tasic Serigino.”
  35.
  36. The birds are rare yet deadly, and only build their nests on the tops of mountains.
  37. It’s said that a number of missing person cases can be attributed to one of these birds whisking them away that’s how massive they are.
  38.
  39. “Yes, several of them if we can.”
  40.
  41. “Those giant massive things? With the talons and the wings larger than either of our bodies?”
  42.
  43. “I’ve heard the eggs themselves are delicacies. Do you think we could get one as part of our reward?”
  44.
  45. “Neither of us can fly!?”
  46.
  47. “That just makes it more fun. C’mon, you can’t tell me you aren’t excited, not when you have that smile on your face.”
  48.
  49. Eh?
  50. You reach up to your face with one hand, tracing the grin spreading across your face.
  51.
  52. “Hehe, a woman’s intuition is never wrong. You like the feeling of getting stronger right? It’s just like me or my sister, though I guess your case is a bit extreme.”
  53.
  54. You realize then that this is her way of being considerate.
  55. She knows how reckless you’ve been in trying to be stronger and knowingly set up a date for the two of you to take advantage of this.
  56.
  57. “I like how gentlemanly you are, but it’s fine to cut loose around me too.”
  58.
  59. “I’ll keep that in mind, Tiona.”
  60.
  61. She smiles cheekily at you before climbing up ahead of you.
  62. You follow closely behind, focusing less on your fear of imminent death and more on how much stronger you could get by doing this.
  63. Tiona helps you up the edge of the cliff and you get your first look at the summit.
  64. Snow and ice cover the large rocks around the area, shining back against your eyes painfully.
  65. The cold is noteworthy but not anything to worry about with Odysseus protecting you.
  66. You’re a little concerned about Tiona but she hasn’t shivered the entire way there, so you’re pretty sure she’s found some work around frostbite.
  67.
  68. That or it’s just Amazoness constitution at work.
  69.
  70. “I don’t see the nest, do you?”
  71.
  72. “No…it must be on the other side then.”
  73.
  74. You and Tiona make your way past several rocks toward the hill at the very top of the mountain and begin to walk up the sharp incline.
  75. Halfway to the top, Tiona freezes.
  76.
  77. “Archie…stay perfectly still.”
  78.
  79. “Wh-“ your breath catches in your throat as the hill shakes.
  80.
  81. Snow flying off the recently awakened fowl.
  82. It lifts its massive head up and quirks its head off into the distance, snapping to the left and right in confusion.
  83. The two of you climbing on top of the thing must have woken it up!
  84. How the hell were you supposed to know that though!? This thing is a magnitude larger than normal Tasic Seriginos!
  85. Forget people, this thing could carry away houses!!
  86. The bird freezes in place abruptly before its head turns completely around to stare at the two of you.
  87. It doesn’t move, frozen like the two of you are.
  88. Then it stretches out its wings spreading across the whole area.
  89. You and Tiona react as one.
  90. She uses her Urga to launch herself to the ground below, while you pull out your rapier and hide, throwing yourself off the side as you do so.
  91. A shockwave of wind turns your balanced fall into a sprawling one.
  92. The bird takes flight with little to no preparation.
  93. An ear-piercing shriek sounds about the area.
  94. Picking yourself, you note the large eggs now visible beside you.
  95.
  96. “Tiona! You alright!?”
  97.
  98. “I was just going to ask the same thing! Anything broken?”
  99.
  100. “I got off just in time!” you call out to her as she becomes visible, making her way over to you.
  101.
  102. “We should-“
  103.
  104. SCREEEEE
  105.
  106. A black shape rises into view from the cliffside, nearly knocking you off your feet as it flies over the mountain.
  107.
  108. It stretches its wings covering the summit in shadows as you get up, picking up your weapon as you do.
  109. Tiona steps into place beside you as the beast gives out one more screech.
  110.
  111. Then the battle begins.
  112. -
  113. “Ouch…”
  114.
  115. “Stop being a baby.”
  116.
  117. You limp down the hill leading to the town.
  118.
  119. Tiona walks beside you, carrying large eggs in an ugly-looking rucksack.
  120. Your ankle got ruined in the fight, fortunately, Tiona was able to carry you down with the eggs so you only had to deal with it now.
  121.
  122. “Ow…”
  123.
  124. “I can’t believe this is the same man that brought that chicken down for me to kill.”
  125.
  126. “That was then, and I had Odysseus active and keeping me from registering the pain from my shattered ankle.”
  127.
  128. “Hm, well we aren’t too far from the town. Once we drop these eggs off, I’ll carry you the rest of the way.”
  129.
  130. You think about it for only a second.
  131.
  132. “I think I’ll be fine. I have a feeling if I left it up to you, you’d do something like carry me around like a princess.”
  133.
  134. “Tch…way to ruin my fun,” she replies playfully
  135.
  136. “You mean, you were!?”
  137.
  138. “Seriously, though I don’t like seeing you in pain, so I can carry you around if you let me.”
  139.
  140. Tiona sounds hopeful almost desperate in a way…
  141. Perceptive activates.
  142. Ah…she blames herself for my injury, huh?
  143.
  144. “Mmm, fine. It would be a great help if you could carry me to town the whole way.”
  145.
  146. Without waiting another second, Tiona scoops you up and begins running with you in your arms.
  147.
  148. “Woah!”
  149.
  150. “Come on, let’s get our payment, and get something to eat while we’re at it. Maybe if we tell them all about that giant lightning bolt you used we can impress them enough to grab a drink too.”
  151.
  152. “Sure, sure.”
  153.
  154. Soon enough, Tiona delivers the eggs and gets you something to eat at town.
  155. The two of you head back to Orario that very same night.
  156. -
  157. -Eris Story Start-
  158.
  159. “Hyah!”
  160.
  161. “Dammit!”
  162.
  163. You fall back, your sword falling through numb fingers.
  164.
  165. “What’s wrong, Archie? You’re losing your touch.”
  166.
  167. Eris holds out her hand helping you get up.
  168. To help Astraea get a good grip on your constant growth she’s taken to having spars and training with you.
  169.
  170. “That’s not it…you’ve just seen everything already.”
  171.
  172. “Hm? I know your skillset and tricks but what does that have to do with anything?”
  173.
  174. “Haha…that’s all I have. My skillset is about what I’m good for. Even…”
  175.
  176. You hold your tongue. You were about to go on a rant there, and Eris doesn’t deserve that, especially this early into your relationship.
  177.
  178. “Even?” Eris asks
  179.
  180. “It’s nothing…”
  181.
  182. “Hm…”
  183.
  184. The two of you move to another part of the courtyard sitting down and drinking some water to refresh yourselves.
  185. The area is quiet and devoid of life besides the two of you.
  186. For a few minutes, you just sit down and look up at the sky not really initiating any conversation.
  187.
  188. “You know-“
  189.
  190. “Huh, what?” you ask a bit startled
  191.
  192. “Oh, it’s just…you know that we didn’t pick you up just because of your stealth skill, right?”
  193.
  194. “But it was a major part of that decision…” you reply smiling bitterly
  195.
  196. It’s fine with you, after all you just wanted a familia that could advance your own fame.
  197. Being a ‘good guy’ and having no real competitors within the familiar is just part of that.
  198. You’re taking advantage of them as much as they are taking advantage of you.
  199.
  200. Eris looks at your expression and gets serious.
  201.
  202. “No.”
  203.
  204. “No?”
  205.
  206. “I didn’t tell Astraea about you because of your stealth skill. I told her about you because you are talented. What I saw in the arena was someone desperate and full of the desire to prove themselves. You wanted to win more than anyone else there. Yes, you relied on your stealth skill and trickery to overcome level 1s, but I don’t believe that makes it somehow not your victory.”
  207.
  208. “Talented? I’m not…I don’t…”
  209.
  210. “Could anyone not talented have survived in the dungeon for a month without a falna?”
  211.
  212. “…”
  213.
  214. “Your drive is like a flame that can never be put out. I wish I had your kind of resolve to be honest. Have faith.”
  215.
  216. “You think that highly of me?”
  217.
  218. “Do you think I’d fall in love with any scrawny male that happens to win a tournament?”
  219.
  220. “Wha!?”
  221.
  222. “Hahaha, why that face? You said it first didn’t you?”
  223.
  224. “I know but…” you look down at the floor
  225.
  226. Eris leans her head on your shoulder.
  227.
  228. “You’re getting stronger you know? Just because I’ve seen all your tricks doesn’t mean you can’t come up with new ones, and even beyond that your growing more and more skilled with those weapons of yours.”
  229.
  230. “Maybe.”
  231.
  232. “My eyes haven’t led me astray yet.”
  233.
  234. How sappy…
  235. Still, she’s right. Enough excuses about tricks and skills, you just have to grow stronger that’s all.
  236. Then eventually…everyone will know your name.
  237.
  238. You slap your cheeks.
  239.
  240. “Okay!”
  241.
  242. “You feeling better?”
  243.
  244. “Yeah, so…another round!”
  245.
  246. You bounce onto your feet and strut out into the field.
  247.
  248. “Sure thing. Try not to let go of your sword this time.”
  249.
  250. “I won’t, because this time I’m going to win.”
  251.
  252. Eris matches your determined expression with her own.
  253.
  254. “We’ll see about that!”
  255.
  256. Eris brings her sword up and points it at you then the fight begins again.
  257. -
