#PastebinMonday 01/13/2025 Finally Revisiting My Scripts Edition

It's a miracle! For the first time in about two years, I have resumed work on my Puzzle League tutorial series. I have changed how I edit my content since I put together the scripts two years ago so I am rewriting them for my updated style. The content was 98% done two years ago so if you just want to look at the knowledge I have gained, check out my scripts here:

I will be going through what I can muster over the next several weeks to try and put it all together neatly. The only thing left to consider is how I organize the technical specifications that drive the series under the hood. There are a lot of little things that one can miss from just playing through the games casually. I just hope that I can treat the things that my mind wants to be distracted by as mere background noise so I can focus. I get distracted if I DON'T have any noise.

I've been feeling a lot of extra distractions lately, doods. Unlocking stuff in Balatro has been a lot of fun. Still haven't gotten 5 Jacks in my hand to discard at once. Still haven't gotten the right combination to score 100 million points. Still haven't gotten the Flush Five planet card Eris. Still one legendary Joker to get from the Soul spectral card. I've gotten addicted to playing it and that usually means a future video or stream to break out of it. I'm also consuming more live streams of people playing games than usual, especially of that MiSide game that the Vtuber community has been crazy over. In fact, as I'm writing this update, two of them, Matara Kan and... Gawr Gura? After 3 months?... are playing it right now. I personally recommend Elizabeth Rose Bloodflame's for her voice acting and Mori Calliope's if you're horny. Oh, and AGDQ was on a little bit, I guess.

Speaking of AGDQ, I have a really controversial take that I am compelled to share. Remember when Games Done Quick was about, you know, video games being done quickly? About speedruns with no gimmicks, no animals playing them, no live cover bands to interrupt the run? Does no one want to watch plain speedruns anymore? I saw the excitement around the Crazy Taxi run at AGDQ2025 and I ended up feeling... sad... about the state of speedrunning. AGDQ2025 was a far cry from the SGDQ2015 event I first got involved with. It wasn't a speedrunning event. I don't know if I'll ever refer to Games Done Quick as a speedrun event any more. I realized I'm not into all the smoke and mirrors that Games Done Quick is trying to put on. I just want to watch people play games, doods.

Now if you'll excuse me, doods, the next Pokémon Puzzle League tournament is coming soon and I need to figure out every little thing I need to change to get ready. I always miss something.


Today's (permanent) extra streaming goals:

Goal #2: script and record footage for my Puzzle League tutorial series. I have some scripts left to touch up before feeling comfortable with moving on to recording gameplay. Then I will need to record my talking points and edit it all together. Getting back to this will be easier once the workflow for the monthly tournaments is finalized. I hope to finish through them all this month.
Goal #3: finalize the tournament layout once and for all in a way that I can adapt for every game we might play. I have until the end of February to get this part organized before the Tetris Attack championship starts up. Otherwise, I will have to postpone something yet again.
Goal #4: clean up my own stream layout. Most of the framework necessary for a semi-proper stream is done now thanks to streaming the process, though I'm not currently motivated to stream any other part of it at the moment. Next major objective is to make alerts. I have stream reaction clips to put in. Emotes, one or two alternate overlay themes, and alternate timer themes would come soon after, though I will put in any timer theme I can use from Pokémon Puzzle League upon request. As soon as I think of things to put in, I will add them to the list.
Goal #5: catch up on video archives that I have yet to upload since I restarted streaming. I may put them on a separate channel.
Goal #6: edit personal best videos in Tetris Attack Easy – V-Hard (post commentary recorded) and Normal (post commentary recorded)—and everything I did in Pokemon Puzzle Week—and that S-Hard PB—and that V-Hard WR—and that Easy – S-Hard WR—and that TA Easy PB. Standalone archival videos are already attached to my speedrun profile. I'm hoping to make eye-catching productions from each speedrun. I'm considering it to be my personal test to be a YouTuber. I am failing miserably right now.
Goal #7: release the Puzzle League tutorial series YouTube shorts once a day until they're all done. I really do think I need to time the release of the series with a ramping up of my streaming schedule so that I can take advantage of whatever there is to gain from releasing the shorts.
