  1. What is this game? I've never seen it speedran before!
  2.
  3. This game is on the GBA and it's basically a duel simulator. There is 28 duelists, and the game is using TCG rule from 2004. Oh,a dn I'm the only one who ever ran this game, and this is my first Single Segment Attempt for this game, hopefully I won't be too exhausted and be able to finish it.
  4.
  5. How do you reach the end of the game?
  6.
  7. To reach the end of the game, you need to defeat every duelist once. Sounds like only duels, so it's pretty OK, right? Well not really. You have some specifics requirement to unlock every one - the main ones being:
  8. defeat all lvl 1 duelists 3 times to unlock lvl 2 duelists
  9. defeat all lvl 2 duelists 5 times to unlock lvl 3 duelists
  10. defeat all lvl 3 duelists 7 times to unlock lvl 4 duelists
  11. defeat all lvl 4 duelists 10 times to unlock lvl 5 duelists
  12. defeat all lvl 5 duelists 15 times to unlock lvl 6 duelists
  13.
  14. Have that + some miscellaneous stuff, you need to do 252 duels to finish the game! AND THAT'S A LOT.
  15.
  16. What is your deck building strat?
  17.
  18. The basic deck you get at the beggining of the game is overall pretty strong. It will allow me to blaze through lvl 1 and half of level 2 duelists. By the time it gets really bad though I should have obtained enough good cards on the way to not have any problem up to level 3, and then one duelist unlocks an INSANELY good booster that will allow to get through most stuff afterward.
  19.
  20. Something in this game that isn't true for others is you can't use passwords to get other cards. You need to get them legit. After every duels you win, you can get 5 cards from a booster you choose, whoever you defeated. The game is also nice in that it gives you WAY MORE chance to get a card you don't have than a card you already have. So betting to get some cards by grinding a booster is a completly worth it strat.
  21.
  22. What I really plan to get throughout the first half of the run is good monsters. There isn't many good effect monsters in this game so I mostly rely on brute, basic force for the early game, so I'm mostly aiming for 1,8k - 1,9k 4 stars monsters, whatever they are. Why? Because my opponents mostly have the same kind of monsters, so I can actually rivalize with them in strength this way.
  23.
  24. Once I have all the cool monsters (should be mostly done by lvl 4 duelists), I'm building my spell builds (mostly equips such as United We Stands or Mage Power, Raigeki, and rebirth stuff), and start getting the good old combo: Cyber-Stein/3k+ fusion/Megamorph. Now I could do that earlier but I only unlock the boosters that have that on level 4 duelists.
  25.
  26. Once those 2 stuff are down I should be good for the rest of the game. Also once I get to level 5 duelists I'm starting to build 2 decks: one fully offensive because I have to farm some lvl 1-3 duelists in order to unlock newer ones, and by this point my monsters are strong enough to deal with them without any problem, and another deck that has some defensive cards for the lvl 5-6 duelists.
  27.
  28. What are the splits you're using?
  29.
  30. The splits I'm using are from a multi-segment runthrough I did offline. i'll probably not beat them, because it was a really good run, but we shall see :)
  31.
  32. How long do you estimate this run will take?
  33.
  34. I estiamte 4 minutes/duels on average, which gives about 17hours :)
  35.
  36. ... Why?
  37.
  38. Cuz I love this game and I'm stupid!
