  1. Character Name is half elf and half halfling, maybe he'll have some sort of nickname regarding that, like "Three Halves" or something dumb. He comes from a wealthy family where his mother and father co-run the family trading company, though they're primarily a transporter of goods rather than buyer/seller. His father, Dad Name, runs the business side of things while his mother, Mom Name, oversees the technical side of things, managing routes and caravan security teams to ensure the safety of the cargo, something she takes to quite well seeing as she is a Valteri Elf (I think that's the proper term). Character lives with his parents as well as the rest of his extended family, who are mostly unimportant (because a lot of them are nasty pieces of work), except for his favorite uncle, Uncle Dain, who is a dwarf. Character isn't entirely certain his relation to Uncle Dain, as nobody will give him a straight answer about their relation, but the looks on their faces convey a lot, primarily that Character's dad was likely in a lot of trouble and Uncle Dain saved him tremendously. Nobody openly talks about the specifics, though. Nonetheless, Dain is Character's favorite uncle. They spend much time together, seeing plays, comedy shows, and a theater craft that originated in City State known as "It's Illusion Magic Movies and Cartoons But I Couldn't Think of a Good Name". Wow. Frequently, Dain would regale Character with his own stories, ones about his adventures as a member of a gang back in the dwarf kingdom, something he assures Character was a much more respectable position in dwarf culture, and his time as a member of a mercenary company, going on daring missions to liberate towns from bandits, and also his time as a sailor, though where he was sailing and for what purposes he never really went too far into detail about. These stories truly captured Character's attention, and he genuinely looks up to his uncle. As he got older though, time soon came for him to choose his own path. It was rather clear what he should choose, the family business was quite easy to manage, and working under his father and inheriting the family business would see that he is taken care of for the rest of his life so long as he avoids complete and total mismanagement of the company. However, that was not the life that called to him. He wanted to have experiences like his uncle. Of course, joining a gang was out of the question, and being a sailor did not sound so exciting when all the positions put forth sounded just like managing the trade company, but with water instead of roads, so the choice was obvious: he must join a mercenary company. This made his parents uneasy, though, as he was not really the spitting image of a "soldier", as he was the pampered child of wealth, being looked after most of his life. However, his heart was set on it, and so Dain helped them out a bit by suggesting the Mutani 1st, a mercenary company that was rather widespread and popular among the nobility, in particular because they would take "special care" of the nobles in their ranks in exchange for a "donation" from their family. And so with this, Character set off on his journey to Join the Mutani 1st. He was accepted and put into one of the Mutani 1st's new Musket regiments, and over the course of the next 2 years he would be instructed in the ways of combat, both mentally and physically. However, 6 months into this 2 year process, at the end of his basic training, Character and some of his fellow trainees caught ill. For several weeks they were bed ridden, until just as suddenly as it had caught on it went away, for most of them at least. To make matters stranger, as the sick group was undergoing physical checkups before being reintegrated into intermediate combat training, it was discovered that some of them were displaying signs of magical ability. The regiment being strangely accepting of this, immediately set to have the group transferred to a magical training facility over in a different city state. However, upon arrival, they were redirected by someone representing the Mutani 1st, saying that the facility was currently undergoing an investigation, and training could not be conducted there, so instead they were to be sent to the Saltmarsh training facility, which is where Character finds himself now, and Ramon has to fukken write what happens next cuz I dunno what mission he'd be given.
