- ~~~~~~~~~~~~ My AGDQ 2018 Trip ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- So I figured I give some details of my trip to AGDQ 2018. Should be fun so here goes:
- Wednesday night (1/10) to Thursday (1/11) - flight from HNL to LAX was great actually. I slept almost 3-4 hours of the flight but I woke up here and there which wasn't so bad. My flight from LAX to IAD was not so great. A guy next to me would fall asleep on my right shoulder and I would have to nudge him to stop. I watched War of the Planet of the Apes for a bit just to get me entertained. Arrived in IAD and called the hotel to check on the shuttle. They were very nice and let me know when's the next shuttle.
- Took the shuttle to the hotel and met up with my roommates and dropped off my luggage. Grabbed my goodies and met up with as many friends as I could from the casual room, to the practice room, to the stream room, to the window, to the wall. Afterwards I took a small nap and then worked out a bit. Then played Cards of Humanity with friends. I had crappy cards and they were mostly political ones which were hard to play with.
- Friday (1/12) - Woke up. Played some games and commentated the ALTTPR tourney in the tourney room. Met up with Tapioca and Carcinogen and rehearsed the ZoE2 run for Saturday. Then went to the ALTTPR dinner at the Herndon Community Center. It was neat to see Speedgaming being recognized in the awards ceremony among the great people in the ALTTPR community. Drank some wine with my roommates then hung around the venue. Went to Jordan's little show in the hallway-ish area near the casual room. Then took a small nap before the ZoE2 run.
- Saturday (1/13) - Woke up. Played some rhythm games to get me a little waken up before the ZoE2 run. Commentated the run and it went by so fast, it was like 20 minutes or less under estimate. Went to sleep. Woke up and walked around a bit. Got the ballistic missile notification and text messages about it from my family. I freaked out. Of course I contacted my family to see what was going on. I texted a few friends in the venue for support, which I am really grateful because I didn't know what to do being somewhat stuck 4000 (5000?) miles away from home and my family. Fortunately 30 mins afterwards (bad on the Hawaii Emergency system people), we were notified that it was a false alarm. It was both a WTH and a wake up call moment because it goes to show how prepared some of us are. I can get into it more but that's all for now. After that fiasco, I hung out with a few more people and met more people that I was hoping to meet. Ate dinner with a few more people. Watched the hyped ALTTPR race with Andy and Christos (what pineapple?). Then get some drinks with Wild and chat for a bit about life and such. Then basically just hung around with friends in their rooms, said my goodbyes, waited until the BOTW run was over and said my goodbyes to a few more people. Didn't sleep.
- Sunday (1/14) - Took my plane ride to LAX and it was amazing. I slept throughout the flight. In LA, hung out with Albert, Agent, and PrincessFlaffy for a bit, then boarded my plane to HNL.

- Overall my trip to AGDQ 2018 was a fun one. I did learn a few things but one of them I'd like to share comes with a little story. I met one of the well known people in the community. You know said hi and what I do. Shake hands, "nice to meet you", so forth. Met him a little later, I offered a little treat, he brushed me off with a "NO". So basically he doesn't really remember who I am and such.
- I was a little bothered by it but I learned something from it. That's the type of person I don't want to be. If you know who I am and what I do, then you know that I do some important stuff (not just in the speedrunning community but I run two conventions in Hawaii). Basically, when people are popular (or in power), they forget that first impressions mean a lot to others and tend to forget they are looked up to. So I plan to not be like that and just treat others with the dignity and respect they deserve from the get go. And if they are not nice to me from the beginning, I'll do my best to be nice to them. I think that's going to be my New Year's Resolution as well. Btw, I'm not mad or bothered about the guy anymore. It's his personality or how he is so I can't help it.
- Anyways AGDQ 2018 is over and hopefully won't be my last. As for SGDQ 2018, we'll see. Chances went up about 5% due to the earlier date. So we'll see. Thanks for reading!
- TLDR - Fun trip, good times, don't be a jerk, I'm weird. Thanks for reading!
