  9. Discord Music Bots That Still Work: Best Ryhthm Music Bot Alternative Right Now!
  10. Streaming and community building have taken the forefront since the pandemic was started. Apps and services like Clubhouse, Discord and Twitter Spaces have taken the forefront and most users seem to feel comfortable when communicating over audio.
  11. Discord has been a long-standing player in this place and is rightly among the top industry solutions for audio collaboration and community building. If you have been using Discord for a long time then you might be aware that Rhythm and Groovy music bots are no longer available on Discord. These music bots were recently taken down by Google.
  12. But what exactly are music bots? And are there any replacements for the Groovy and Rhythm music bots? Let’s find out!
  13. What are Discord Music Bots?
  14. One of the reasons why Discord is hugely popular is because of its comprehensive bots. Discord not only publishes various bots themselves, but the company also allows, third parties, users, and communities to build their own bots. Music Bots have been a long-standing way of playing music within any channel in Discord.
  15. They allow you to play files and music from popular streaming platforms within the service which allows for a more personalized experience. Recently Google served a notice to Groovy and Rhythm, the two most popular Music Bots in Discord. You could use these bots to play music from YouTube in your channel and subscriptions within Discord.
  16. Sadly this is no longer possible and many users are looking for viable alternatives. Fear not here’s a list of Discord Music Bots that still work in Discord as of writing this post in the third week of September 2021.
  17. Discord Music Bots that still work [Sept 2021]
  18. Here are popular Music Bots in Discord that still seem to work. Some of these bots still use YouTube and we expect Google to take them down in the future as the bot gets popular. Hence, keep this in mind when making your choice for a music bot in Discord.
  19. Hydra Bot
  20. Hydra Bot is a longstanding music bot with the ability to play music across all your channels. You can even have the global audio control to your servers and even add audio effects to the currently playing track if you wish. Here are some prominent features offered by Hydra Bot.
  21.
  22. Tons of customizations
  23. Command list
  24. Multiple region-based localizations
  25. Global Volume Control
  26. Auto-Play
  27. Audio Effects
  28. 24/7 playback
  29. Unlimited saved playlists
  30.
  31. and more. However, keep in mind that Hydra Bot also has a paid premium offering which is required for accessing some of these features. But if you are looking to replace Rhythm or Groovy as soon as possible on your channel, then this might be one of the best choices for you right now. In line with the recent ban wave, Hydra Bot has unfortunately removed YouTube as a supported platform to play content from its servers.
  32. Botify
  33. Botify is a spotify integration bot for Discord that allows you to play content from Spotify within your channels. The bot is also compatible with YouTube and offers the following unique features.
  34.
  35. Play content from Spotify, YouTube, SoundCloud, Twitch, and more.
  36. Free and open source
  37. Create multiple playlists with tons of customizations and cross-platform capability.
  38. Easy to access commands
  39. Ability to sign in to access personal playlists from your Spotify profile.
  40. Ability to add custom names and commands for your bot
  41.
  42. Botify is an underrated bot that hasn’t been much popular despite its exciting features and open-source nature. Still, with the recent ban on Groovy and Rhythm, this could be the perfect time to switch to Botify. If you have been looking for something free and customizable, then Botify should be right up your alley.
  43. JMusicBot
  44. MusicBot is a self-hosted bot available on Github with the ability to sync across multiple platforms and various customizations. This has been the go-to choice for many users when it comes to self-hosted music bots on Discord thanks to its ability to offer content from YouTube, Soundcloud, and more. Here are the prominent features of MusicBot.
  45.
  46. Easy to setup (Requires Java)
  47. Comparatively faster as it will be self-hosted
  48. Requires a Discord Bot token
  49. Supported Sources: YouTube, SoundCloud, Bandcamp, Vimeo, Twitch Streams, Local Files, HTTP URLs
  50. Supported Formats: Mp3, Flac, WAV, WebM, AAC, Opus, Vorbic, Mp4, M4A, M3U, and PLS.
  51.
  52. We recommend that you use a self-hosted bot at this point considering the recent ban wave from Google. Industry speculations suggest that this could also be because Google is looking to release their official integration for Discord but that is yet to be seen.
  53. Using MusicBot would be the best choice at this point as it will be self-hosted, is completely free, and offers various features often locked behind paywalls by other bots.
  54. Vexera (Recommended Rhythm Alternative)
  55. Do you miss Rhythm and don’t wish to part with it? Then check out Vexera! Vexera is a premium bot with a lot of offerings apart from music playback. You can moderate channels, assign auto roles, have some fun, play games, share and view images, and much more.
  56. If you have been looking for an all-around solution with the ability to play music as well, then Vexera might be the perfect choice for you. Here are some of the prominent features of Vexera that should help you give a better idea about its capabilities.
  57.
  58. Moderate your channel with the ability to kick, ban, remove, and more.

  60. Play games, get jokes, emoji conversion, and much more.
  61. Image sharing capabilities
  62. Music bot with playback and source control along with playlist management.
  63.
  64. However, keep in mind that this is not all Vexera has to offer. The bot also has a premium offering that will help you get additional features like autoplay capabilities, bass adjustment, the ability to accept donations, global volume management, and more. So if you are looking for something more comprehensive, then Vexera might just be the perfect choice for you.
  65. Lofi Radio
  66. Looking for something minimal and easy to use? Then Lofi Radio might be the perfect choice for you. This is a simple bot that plays a Lofi Radio 24/7 on your channel. It is available whenever you want and can be stopped or started at your discretion.
  67. You get easy to access and aesthetically pleasing UI, HQ audio quality, and a huge selection of Lofi songs curated into a specific playlist daily. Lofi Radio just needs to be installed and started on your server. There are no additional customizations, track choices, or playlists that you can choose from. You get access to a simple minimal Lofi radio available to you 24/7.
  68. Fredboat
  69. Fredboat is another popular music bot that can play content from most content streaming websites including YouTube, Twitch, SoundCloud, and more. The bot even has an integrated search engine that can search across Youtube and Soundcloud servers.
  70. While Fredboat has been designed with small servers and communities in mind, that does not mean it does not have moderation features. You can easily restrict users from editing your playlist when using Fredboat on your server. Here are some other prominent features offered by Fredboat.
  71.
  72. Play, Pause, Shuffle, Repeat and playlist management commands.
  73. Ability to create new playlists specific to your channels.
  74. Supports content from YouTube, SoundCloud, Bandcamp, Twitch, Vimeo, and Mixer.
  75. Hidden fun commands to have some much-needed fun on boring days.
  76. Debugging tool.
  77.
  78. Fredboat is quite popular thanks to the ability to access all the above-stated features for free. The bot also has a Patreon version where additionally you get the ability to set up and play Spotify playlists, something that is unavailable to free users.
  79. Things to keep in mind when using Music bots in Discord
  80. While Discord Music Bots might seem harmless, there are certain things that you should keep in mind when setting up your bots and managing your channels.
  81.
  82. Ensure that you run and download bots only from reputable developers.
  83. Ensure that you have proper moderation setup: Bots can play content from various services and malicious users might misuse this to violate community guidelines if everyone has access to your music bot.
  84. Ensure that you have a proper Bot ID to avoid setup issues when setting up your bot.
  85. You will not get any support from the bot developers if you decide to modify the bot according to your own needs.
  86.
  87. We hope you were able to find some good alternatives to Groovy and Rhythm in Discord. If you still face issues with music bots, feel free to reach out to us using the comments below.
  88. Mudit
  89. Spectroscopic collection of human cells trying to pave a path via words.
  90. Discord Music Streaming Bot Alternatives to Rythm
  91. You might already know that Groovy has left Discord and that the beloved Rythm bot will be shutting down soon too. We can spam “F” to show our opposition to this, but we cannot stop YouTube from taking them down—sedge, but that’s how the ball rolls. With that said, we still would like to enjoy and chill around in our respective Discord lobbies, which is why we procured a list of other bot alternatives present in Discord. Here we go.
  92. What is a Discord bot?
  93. If you’re reading this, then you probably already know what a Discord bot is, but for those who do not; Discord is a bot (yeah surprising), that runs on the platform to provide users functions and quirks that are coded to them—giving the server some personality. Some are Chatbots that try to replicate human speech, Moderation Bots that basically acts like a security guard for those who violate server rules, or the must-have Music Bots that can stream music for those in a Channel—next thing you know, you will be hearing is Mulan’s ‘I’ll make a man out of you’ as you casually play some games.
  94. With that out of the way, let us proceed to the alternatives you can have in your Discord server.
  95. MEE6
  96. First up on this list is the cute, joyful-looking MEE6 bot. More known to be a top-notch moderation bot, MEE6 can also stream music, supporting SoundCloud, Spotify, YouTube, and many more. Instead of using commands such as ‘!play’ or ‘!search’, users can hop into MEE6’s dashboard and use the visual player present to monitor music and playlists. Aside from its visual player, MEE6 also features 24/7 playing, meaning it can sit on a server and play music—just like how you would constantly hear lobby music at a hotel to accommodate guests. Yeah, it gives off that kind of vibe.
  97. Do note that these features are locked behind payment, it can be paid monthly for a price of USD 11.95, yearly for USD 43.02, and a one-time payment of USD 79.90.
  98. Chip
  99. If you are the type of chap that likes to control music equalizers such as bass, treble, mids, highs—the whole lot, Chip bot might be the one for you. Created by user Kyoso, Chip supports Twitch, Bandcamp, YouTube, Mixer, Vimeo, and SoundCloud and gives access to audio controls for vocal, treble, and bass boost, as well as an audio equalizer. If you do install this, it uses the code “ch!” for the commands. To add to these, Chip can also stream 180 radio stations from around the world—poggers.
  100. The bot is free to use, however, users can opt to support its creator with, USD 5.00 per month for user premium and USD 12.50 per month.
  101. ProBot
  102. Just like MEE6, ProBot is a very customizable multipurpose bot for welcome images, In-depth logs, Social commands, Music, Moderation, plus it is multilingual and can support more than 13 languages. In addition, it boasts an uptime of 99.99%, meaning you wouldn’t have moments of the bot dying mid-montage music. It also features anti-raid protection, which responds to attempts when the server gets randomly populated by trollers or other bots.
  103. The bot is free to use, however, users can donate to its developers via ProBot Support.
  104. Octave bot
  105. Next on the list is Octave (formerly known as Gnar), another popular Discord bot offering both free and premium features. Octave supports playlist creation, queues, and shuffles from YouTube and SoundCloud platforms for its free features. Its premium features, on the other hand, grant access to audio filters, custom playlists, and longer queue playlists for those long hours of gaming or group bonding time.
  106. As for prices, Octave is priced at USD 5.00 per month for one server. However, if you spend USD 10.00 per month, you get premium access to Octave on two servers.
  107. Hydra
  108. Last but not certainly the least is Hydra. This Discord bot allows users the usual music playlists, queues, loop and etc., supporting YouTube, SoundCloud, Spotify, Deezer, Bandcamp, and radio streaming. Plus if you are in the middle of listening to a banging song, you can search for its lyrics and other information. Hydra bot also offers a premium service that grants access to volume control, audio effects, 24/7 playback streaming, and unlimited saved playlists.
  109. Users can access these premium services at USD 1.99 per month or USD 19.99 per year. If you want to opt for server premium services it will cost USD 2.99 per month while it will be USD 29.99 per year.
  110. And there you have it, a list of alternative music streaming Discord bots that you can install today. It is quite haunting that Rythm’s creator stated that all music streaming bots would eventually be hunted down by the big YouTube platform. The current victims amount to two as of the writing of this article, but who will be next? If you are curious as to what happened, click here.
  111. Tell us your thoughts and experiences in Discord in the comments below; also, feel free to share your opinions on YouTube shutting down these Discord bots.
  112. Another Discord music bot is biting the dust this month
  113. Nearly three weeks after Google killed Discord music bot Groovy (opens in new tab) , another one is set to bite the dust later this month.
  114. It's my personal favourite that's on the chopping block this time, with the Rythm bot set to shut down on September 15. It's one of Discord's most popular rhythm bots, being installed on around 20 million Discord servers and around 30 million active monthly users. It worked the same as Groovy, with users able to feed the bot YouTube links which could then be played to everybody in a voice channel. Now just like Groovy, Rythm's developer has been sent a cease and desist by Google.
  115. "One way or another we knew this was due to happen eventually," Rythm's creator Yoav told The Verge. (opens in new tab) "Which is why we started working on something new a year ago. Groovy receiving one just meant it would happen sooner rather than later."
  116. After 5 years of service and over 20 million users. Rythm will be shutting down on September 15thThis is not the end! We have been working tirelessly on a new project that we can't share yet! If you would like updates on this, check out our site here: https://t.co/iw2K1yWv5T ❤️September 12, 2021
  117. Rythm's new project was briefly touched upon in a post on its official website (opens in new tab) announcing its imminent closure, writing "we can't tell you too much yet, but we're working on something awesome in the music space." It sounds like an alternative may be in the works, one that most likely won't rely on YouTube videos and circumventing Google's ads.
  118. With two of Discord's most popular music bots now out of commission, Yaov reckons others will see similar notices from Google over the coming weeks. "I believe that now we received the letter, all music bots will be getting them too in the following weeks and I strongly believe all of them will shut down," Yaov continued to The Verge. "As someone that was a very early user on Discord, it's hard to envision Discord without music bots. They've become key to the experience and bring so much fun and engagement to a community. It's a sad end of an era here for everyone on the platform."
  119. Music bots really do feel like a big part of Discord's culture. Rythm regularly ends up in whatever voice channel I'm hanging out in, and even if I'm not actively listening to it, it's a nice tool to have. But Discord is expanding beyond its gaming roots, and its increasing popularity means it's no surprise that big companies like Google are starting to take notice of what goes on within its communities. Regardless, it's hard not to wonder and be worried about what the future of Discord looks like. (opens in new tab)
