  1. >You wake in a cold sweat.
  2. >You peer out the window again, looking at the night stars that shine ever so beautifully into your room.
  3. >You had that dream again.
  4. >The one where you wake up with the indescribable feeling of dread and depression.
  5. >Every time you begin to think there may be some hope for you, it comes along and sends you back to square one.
  6. >It always starts the same, sending you back in time to when you were happy.
  7. >Back when you had friends, a loving family, and her.
  8. >You always see her, she’s always there, just out of reach.
  9. >She says your name, and you move forward to touch her.
  10. >To feel that familiar yet distant feeling that you longed for.
  11. >But just before you can reach her, it all falls apart.
  12. >All at once, you are brought back to reality, where you have nothing.
  13. >No one.
  14. >Everything is gone.
  15. >Then you wake up.
  16. >You’ve learned to cope with the dreams over time, but the pain they give you never seems to lessen.
  17. >After all, you’d been having them for over 5 years now.
  18. >You get yourself out of bed, throwing on your old shirt that Thread Chaser so graciously washed and repaired for you.>Other than your memories, it was the only remnant of your old life.
  19. >You slowly walk outside to the balcony outside your room.
  20. >You stare at the night sky like you’ve become so accustomed to doing over the years.
  21. >The Equestrian night sky beat Earth’s by a long shot.
  22.
  23. >”Are you having trouble sleeping, Anon?”
  24. >You are startled by the familiar voice behind you.
  25. “Luna, what are you doing here?”
  26. >She lays down beside you on the balcony, eyes gazing up into to her beautiful night sky.
  27. >She sighs.
  28. >”Anonymous, my duties as Princess of the night… they come with certain responsibilities.”
  29. >I suppose you’d never considered that.
  30. >I guess she does more than just raise and lower the moon.
  31. >”One of which, includes going into other p0nies dreams.”
  32. >”Sometimes I just observe, sometimes I guide them on the right path. But nonetheless, I experience what they experience.”
  33. >Wait…
  34. “So… you saw what I dreamed of?”
  35. >”I did.”
  36. >You don’t know what to say.
  37. >What does she think of you now?
  38. “I’m sorry.”
  39. >She looks at you, a confused look comes across her face.
  40. >”I don’t understand. Sorry for what?”
  41. “I’m sorry you had to see that. The things I feel when I have that dream…”
  42. >You look away from her, ashamed.
  43. “I would not wish that upon anyone.”
  44. >She moves closer to you and rests her head on your shoulder.
  45. >”It reminds me a lot of a dream that used to haunt me.”
  46. “Really?”
  47. >She doesn’t say anything, just enjoying the moment you two are sharing.
  48. >A moment that feels like an eternity.
  49. >”Anon, get on my back.”
  50. “I’m sorry?”
  51. >”I want to take you somewhere.”
  52.
  53. >You are hesitant, but you get on Luna’s back.
  54. >She slowly stands up, seemingly lifting your weight with ease.
  55. >She spreads her wings and leaps from the balcony.
  56. >You wrap your arms tightly around her neck, doing your best to not hold on TOO tight.
  57. >You two glide over the town that sleeps.
  58. >She flaps her wings, sending you two into the clouds.
  59. “Oh my god….”
  60. >”Do you enjoy the view?”
  61. “This is amazing….”
  62. >You are no longer in fear, but rather amazement at the view, as well as the experience.
  63. >She banks to the left, gliding below the clouds and into a dense forest area.
  64. >You do not have good experience with the forests here, but you trust her.
  65. >She gracefully lands, before laying down to let you off.
  66. >Slowly you dismount and look up at the ruins that lay ahead of you.
  67. “Luna, where are we?”
  68. >You look around you, taking in the sight of this place.
  69. >There’s a circular formation of derelict ruins, overtaken by nature.
  70. >Surrounding you are looming trees.
  71. >In the very middle of the ruins, though, is a clear view of the night sky.
  72. >”I told you that I go to the garden to clear my mind, but this place…”
  73. >She walks forward into the middle of the structure,
  74. >”This is where I come to escape.”
  75. >Luna turns to you,
  76. >”Are you coming?”
  77. >You follow her into the large patch of grass that has taken over what once must have been an incredible structure.
  78.
  79. >She lays down, and you follow suit, laying down on your back next to her.
  80. “I can see why. This place feels so… free from everything.”
  81. >Luna stays silent for a moment, before speaking softly,
  82. >”That dream I used to have…”
  83. >”I told you how p0nies do not appreciate the night that I bring to them.”
  84. >You remember your first night here, out on the balcony.
  85. >”A long time ago, I let that jealousy overcome me. I…”
  86. >Her voice began to quiver, you turn your head to look at her and see her fighting back tears.
  87. >”I turned into a monster. I vowed to make my night reign eternal.”
  88. >You sit up now, wrapping an arm around her back in comfort.
  89. >”My sister managed to stop me. It was an incredible mistake, and I thought I would never be able to come back from what I had done. She’d banished me for over 1000 years.”
  90. >She seemed to compose herself, but you knew the sadness that she must feel.
  91.
  92. “But you’re here right now. You are still the sister of Celestia, and still Princess of the night. You overcame something you thought impossible to overcome. Maybe it wasn’t easy, but life isn’t meant to be easy. There will be obstacles, whether they are ones thrown at you or ones you create yourself.”
  93. >She turns to look at you, breaking her saddened, distant gaze.
  94. “I told you before how I didn’t have anyone to call a friend in my past life. You saw my dream, you know now the extent of that feeling I had.”
  95. >Now it was your turn to get choked up,
  96. “When I got here, Celestia had wondered how I ended up in this world, out of the infinitely many worlds I could have ended up in."
  97. >Luna sat silently, listening to each word you spoke.
  98. "I told the person at the gate, ‘I don’t care where I go, but put me somewhere I can have a chance at being happy.’ And here I am.”
  99. >Luna wraps her wing around you again, covering you in comfort and warmth in the cold night.
  100. “I too had gone through something in which I thought there was no possible way to recover from. And as much as I thought that, I see now that wasn’t true.”
  101.
  102. >You look up into the stars, as you’ve become so accustomed to doing in this world.
  103. “Do you know why I like looking into the starry sky?”
  104. >”Why is that?”
  105. >Luna’s voice is soft and tender,
  106. “I find myself getting lost in it’s beauty.”
  107. >Luna nudges herself closer to you.
  108. “Something about it… so full of beauty and purity. It beckons at my human sense of exploration. Something deep down inside of me sometimes wants nothing more than to go there. And despite knowing that will not happen, it gives me comfort when nothing else will.”
  109. >You sit next to Luna in these ruins, lost in the stars.
  110. >You are surprised by a set of lips that meet yours.
  111. >You’re pulled out of your trance by the soft and gentle kiss of the princess of the night.
  112. >Her lips are so tender, so sweet.
  113. >She pulls away after what seems like a lifetime.
  114. >You stare into those beautiful blue eyes of hers, speechless
  115. >A blush comes across her face.
  116. >”I… I’m sorr-“
  117. >You cut her off by putting a hand on her face and meeting her lips again.
  118. >She wraps a hoof around your head, pulling you into her embrace.
  119. >Your tongues dance, you feel her loosen up at your touch, as you do hers.
  120. >Your fingers run through that mane that so elegantly flows in the air, bringing you solace.
  121. >This time you are the one to pull away.
  122. >You look again into those beautiful, bashful eyes of hers.
  123. “Luna…. You are the happiness I’ve spent my life looking for.”
  124. >You lay back in the grass, staring into the night.
  125. >A million thoughts race through your head.
  126. >Luna rests her head on your chest as you slowly drift off to sleep in these ruins.
