  1. Taako discovers two things in the first month of winter. The first: he's going to have a baby. They made one, he and Magnus, and it's this crazy, beautiful, utterly /fucked/ concept that he's not sure he'll get his head around fully before his kid pops out.
  2.
  3. The second discovery: the way his husband looks at him /can/ in fact get fonder, even though Taako thought the big goof had the highest possible concentration of love in his eyes already.
  4.
  5. --
  6.
  7. Another discovery comes at the end of spring.
  8.
  9. It's going to be a girl.
  10.
  11. He sees Magnus' knees almost buckle, but Taako is too breathless to tease.
  12.
  13. --
  14.
  15. Summer brings many gifts with it, as it always has and will. His favourite season is spent sunbathing, meditating, and narrowing his focus to the little pattering of heartbeat inside his belly.
  16.
  17. They both talk to her, a lot. It's summer when they decide on her name, Marjorie, and Taako spends every honey-sunlit evening practicing nicknames for her.
  18.
  19. Maaj, Mari, Marjo, Midge.
  20.
  21. --
  22.
  23. Autumn is tedious. It brings a swollen belly, and sore feet, and hair-trigger moods so bad that even the /sound/ of Magnus carving more baby furniture sets him off.
  24.
  25. Autumnal nights are better, though. The breeze that blows through their bedroom window is cool enough that Taako can curl up to his husband and pretend it's just the weather driving him closer.
  26.
  27. --
  28.
  29. Taako always hated winter. Most sun elves probably do, he's pretty sure, though others handle it with more grace than he.
  30.
  31. This winter brings very little, as winters are prone to do.
  32.
  33. Taako brings the winter something, though. He gives winter the smallest, most beautiful baby girl the world has ever seen, with dark skin like her papa and pointed ears so delicate he can hardly believe it.
  34.
  35. The cold is bitter and nothing much grows, but inside their home it's warm, and she blooms.
