  1. Ways of using Gmail and other Google applications with SugarCRM:
  2. * SugarCRM Email Client. SugarCRM has an embedded webmail-style client. It can be linked with an existing Gmail account via IMAP and SMTP settings. Email can be checked via the SugarCRM interface, then saved into the history of corresponding Accounts, Contacts, Leads, etc. Benefits large teams needing a single, non-mobile and standard way of using email. Disadvantage: the interface sucks, especially if you're accustomed to Gmail.
  3.
  4. * SNIP/Email Archiving Tool (Paid versions only). By forwarding or cc/bcc'ing a given email address (e.g. psi12345@sugarondemand.com) the email will be associated to the Account, Contact, Lead, etc. associated to the email address. Benefits those needing to use mobile devices to send emails frequently, as it’s easy to BCC an address from iPhone or Android mail.
  5.
  6. * SugarCRM Gmail Plugin for Google Chrome Web Browser, provided (for cost) by another SugarCRM business partner, ATCORE Systems. This browser plug-in allows emails to be recorded into SugarCRM from the Gmail window. Does not support mobile, but emails can be sync'd later on via the browser. Chrome/Chromium browser only (i.e. no Safari, IE or Firefox support)
  7.
  8. * Outlook Plugin (Professional versions only). Outlook is actually compatible with Gmail, and using SugarCRM’s Outlook Plugin is the preferred way of most partners and customers to get email into Sugar.
  9.
  10. * Opacus SugarCRM Plugins for Thunderbird Email Client. Thunderbird works nicely with Gmail, and Opacus provides a connector to link Thunderbird with SugarCRM in a similar manner of the Outlook Plugin. There is a free and premium version of this integration; the free version allows recording of emails to existing Leads/Contacts/etc. while the premium versions adds the ability to create new Leads/Contacts from within Thunderbird.
  11.
  12. * Collabspot (https://www.sugaroutfitters.com/addons/collabspot) is a Gmail/Sugar integration that is installed in the Google Chrome web browser, includes a Sugar sidebar in Gmail window, and costs about $10/user/month. Google Chrome only, but is considered to have a great interface and reasonable price point.
  13.
  14. * Gmail, Google Calendar and Google Documents integration is provided by the "Gmail and Google Sync" plugin from RolusTech: https://www.sugaroutfitters.com/addons/gmail-sync
  15.
  16. * Sugar 6 featured a built-in Google Document integration within the Documents module, but it has not been updated for Sugar 7
  17.
  18. * Sugar 6 and 7 feature a built-in iCal integration. In the User's profile, find the iCal link. This can be imported into Google Calendar directly following documented instructions. It works, but it's read-only and the updates that Google Calendar pulls down are cannot be requested manually (i.e. there's no "refresh" button) and the schedule for updating the Google Calendar from Sugar is sporadic.
