  1. The young boy lead down in the grass, a straw of hay in his mouth. The wind briskly rolled along the hills and through the valley, swishing blades of grass to and fro. His hands behind his head, held it, elbows stuck out in a 'W' formation. One eye closed he smirked towards the clouds taking in the scent of the nature around him "What a scene, nature at it's purest. Not a soul in sight. Well, not a soul but me." he said to himself as he bent his knee.
  2.
  3. He rested in white tatty robes, dirt on his knees and elbows, on his feet cloth straps bandaged up to his shin. On his waist a brown cloth belt and attached to that with golden string a pouch made of what seemed to be leather, shining in the sunlight. The Ookami's black ears twitched as he heard voices calling in the distance. His eye moved to look back behind himself as if he could see the other side of the hill.
  4.
  5. "Thief! Thief! Catch that rotten bastard!" the voice called
  6.
  7. "Heh, looks like they're gettin' close." the Ookami said mischievously.
  8.
  9. He waited for a brief few moments, his ears cocking to the side every few seconds in a playful manner. The young boy then moved his hands from behind his head, raised his body and patted the grass beside him "Any second now. . ." he anticipated the arrival of the voices. He then Jumped to his feet and glared off to the curving of the hill, his violet eyes dilated, sharpening as he watched like a beast stalking its pray. he shouted out before spinning around "Took you that long to get here? Geeze, you guys sure are slow!" . His long wavy midnight hair glistened in the sunlight like a raven's feathers giving off a rainbow shine. He leaped forth, using the top of his foot to propel himself down the hill. His speed ever increasing, cutting through the blades of grass. He rushed with all his speed, panting as he moved. His arms violently thrusted back and forth as his legs pushed vigorously against the ground. His hands open as he ran, claws piercing through the air.
  10.
  11. As he reached the summit of the hill he took a turn towards the woods. As he hooped from rock to rock the months of moss that clinged to the stones tore cascading into the babbling brook from where their drew their growth. One foot stepped within the water of the stream for but a second, particles and droplets, splashed up from the step causing a disturbance in the nature around him. Ripples pushed out moving the course of the water for the occasion, the fish of minute proportion scarpered turning tail all in their schools fled the disruption. Birds flocked into the sky, frogs dived into water and vowles buried back into their banks. Though the nature around him was greatly disturbed, He pressed on in an attempt to escape the group of name callers.
  12.
  13. His eyes were wide, pupils dilated and beamed, his mouth open bearing his fangs with delight - He loved the case, the thrill of being hunted causing his mischief and proving his worth to.. To whom? No-one but himself at this date though hopefully this was to change. His heart pounded, he could hear it in his ears the throbbing of excitement. "Keh, those idjits. They'll never catch me in here" he said as his palms connected with a tree branch, swinging himself off into the dark woods, sunlight did not reach the forest floor the leaves were too thick. This was a place untouched by mankind and their industrial ways but more importantly a place for Seth to hide.
  14.
  15. He jumped from tree to tree until seeing a break in the dense brush - A clearing An anomaly, a break in the darkness which shrouded the kingdom of woodland spirits. - This place giving way to sunlight. It was rather beautiful, a small natural pond, rocks surrounding the outside and sunlight bursting down.
  16.
  17. The boy landed with a thud, his heals breaking the ground below him, soil kicked up. He thought to himself "This'll do.. I suppose" - Seth did not care much for nature in this stage of life, though he still found it beautiful, he felt the same for humanity. His deepest concern was for himself and his own welfare. Almost an adolescent he had spent the past four years fending for himself. Stealing from markets, hunting in the woods and on the rarest occasions helping the odd fellow with a task in exchange for coin - Though it was easier to steal. That was his only judgment by it. His mother had passed away but four years earlier from unknown causes to Seth. His father, non-existent. He had never thought to question about him to his mother and his mother had never spoken to him about it. All he knew was that his mother was not like him, he was different - Ookami. He had grown up on the streets, begging for crowns and bread though more often than not they were given nothing. His mother resorted to prostitution which brought a fair amount of pay for them though not enough to be deemed a wage. The title of peasant is not a deeming title and yet they were below this, to all but them indistinguishable from 'scum'.
  18.
  19. Seth pulled the strings of the leather purse and looked down to its contents. He drew out the crowns which were stored inside "Hmph.. Hundred and forty crowns.. At least I can count, all that's needed, money is all that matters." he murmured under his breath before looking down into the pond. Under the water a cluster of frog's eggs sat cuddled together left all alone. "Hm.. So you guys don't have anyone either.. This shit sucks, what's the point of family if they ain't gonna be around for ya'." He said, his teeth grit a strange bond between him and the orphan frogs though the difference was that, that was a way of nature. "Nah.. It ain't her fault... Jus' some kids keep their parents. Like those good for nothin' nobles. They get everythin' they want, food, drink, clothes, homes. And what do we get, eh? Fuck all. Notta' single thing. And why's that? 'Cus of the fuckin' kings. They don't care about scum like us, the slums or beggars. We're jus' a waste to them." He carried on, dwelling in his thoughts. "You can't blame me for takin' this, they ain't gonna pay for a meal for me so I have to get the meal myself..". He was a young boy lost in a twisted world, many changes occurring in his life. His growth into a man was about to begin and he nothing but a few odd crowns to his name.
  20.
  21. When suddenly there was a crack from behind, a rasping voice, a gurgling sound. From within the darkness two deep crimson eyes illuminated, drawing closer to him. He flinched. His own eyes darted from side to side looking for a weapon, he dropped to the ground reaching for a fallen branch. Gripping it tightly he prepared to face what beast may lurk in the darkness.
  22.
  23. More branches snapped, stepping forth a creature with dry yellow skin, glowing scarlet eyes. It's hands large, black, enormous claws. Only three fingers and thumb per hand. It's feet the same with large lead claws. Saliva drolled from it's mouth, it stepped over a moss covered log, breaking it in half under it's weight. It held out it's monsterous palm, grasping the air for Seth.
  24.
  25. "Get back you.. You fuckin' monster!" he shouted, the boy jumped forward and swung the large branch though the Yokai raised it's hand and sliced through the branch, leaving a sharp pointed end to the fallen 'Tree-arm'. The Ookami smirked "Keh, thanks." he said as his body somersaulted over the beast, slashing it's back from behind. He began to move around it, keeping a fair distance while gashing through it's hardened skin. His circling causing some confusion to the creature. A combination of lightning quick kicks collided with the beast, sending a pain through Seth's body as well as the Yokai's. He was untrained, not a warrior yet, just a thief with instinct. His body was not prepared for combat with beasts such as these.
  26.
  27. The Yokai also attacked back, countering some of his blows allowing it's claws the cut through the boy's skin. Seth stood back on a rock before he leaped forward once again. He kicked his feet against the chest of the Yokai using his momentum and the weight of the Yokai to his advantage which caused it to topple over. As it fell to the ground he prepared himself for a hard landing though due to luck - not his own skill as he believed it to be- he landed without taking any harm. He stared down at the beast, a grin of malice plastered across his face. He raised his stick above the monstrosity, one foot pressed against it's chest to hold the Yokai in place "Now die you filthy beast!" he snarled, as his blade struck the creature's neck. The wood pierced the hardened skin and tore into it's arteries. Dark blood pumped out and coated his weapon. Blood oozed from it's wound along the luscious grass. His movements carried on, he struck down once again yet the light from within the beasts eyes had faded he still persistently repeated the processes a withering stare cursing the abused corpse. His pupils dilated to dots, a smile still on his face with his fangs bare.
  28.
  29. After half a minute of stabbing which felt like an hour to Seth he stopped and left the stick punctured inside the throat of the beast. His first kill on a some-what sentient being, a creature which studies may show to have a conscience but Seth felt no mercy nor guilt. Rather relaxation, his bottled up feelings of oppression and hormonal anxiety had faded - Killing was relieving?
  30.
  31. He turned to the pond and cupped his hand. He splashed water on himself, cleaning away his own blood and the blood of the Yokai. He then raised his hands to his mouth and sipped away at the water from his palms, though some drained through and streamed onto the grass beneath him, it ran back being to be reunited with the pool. He then pushed his hands against his face and shook his head before he stood up. He turned towards the darkness of the forest and prepared himself for nightfall. He had to collect wood for a fire to stay warm and to try and cook the mangled beast which lay lifeless beside the pool.
